58 Second Corinthians 2:5-11 ⁵But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. ⁶Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. ⁷So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. ⁸Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. ⁹For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. ¹⁰To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; ¹¹Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 58 Second Corinthians 2:5-11 ⁵¶ But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me only, but to a certain degree all of you; therefore the news will not be a shock to you. ⁶The rebuke of many persons is sufficient for such a man. ⁷So that from henceforth you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one will be overcome with excessive grief. ⁸I beseech you therefore that you confirm your love toward him. ⁹For that is why I wrote you, that I might know by your word whether you are obedient in all things. ¹⁰To whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for anything which I have forgiven, to whomever I forgave it, it is for your sakes I forgave it in the presence of Christ, ¹¹Lest Satan might take advantage of us; for we know his devices. 58 Second Corinthians 2:5-11 ⁵But if any one has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure--not to put it too severely-- to you all. ⁶For such a one this punishment by the majority is enough; ⁷so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. ⁸So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. ⁹For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything. ¹⁰Any one whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, ¹¹to keep Satan from gaining the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his designs.(RSV)

58 Second Corinthians 2:5-11 ⁵If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent -- not to put it too severely. ⁶The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. ⁷Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. ⁸I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. ⁹The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. ¹⁰If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven -- if there was anything to forgive -- I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, ¹¹in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.(NIV)
