54 Hebrews 11:32-40 ³²ܘܡܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܐܡܪ ܙܥܘܪ ܗܘ ܠܝ ܓܝܪ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܐܫܬܥܐ ܥܠ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܒܪܩ ܘܥܠ ܫܡܫܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܢܦܬܚ ܘܥܠ ܕܘܝܕ ܘܥܠ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܘܥܠ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܀ ³³ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܙܟܘ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܘܩܒܠܘ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܘܤܟܪܘ ܦܘܡܐ ܕܐܪܝܘܬܐ ܀ ³⁴ܘܕܥܟܘ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܘܐܬܦܨܝܘ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܐ ܕܤܝܦܐ ܘܐܬܚܝܠܘ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܘܗܘܘ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܒܩܪܒܐ ܘܤܚܦܘ ܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܕܒܥܠܕܒܒܐ ܀ ³⁵ܘܝܗܒܘ ܠܢܫܐ ܒܢܝܗܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܝܡܬܐ ܕܡܝܬܐ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܒܫܢܕܐ ܡܝܬܘ ܘܠܐ ܤܟܝܘ ܠܡܬܦܨܝܘ ܕܩܝܡܬܐ ܡܝܬܪܬܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܀ ³⁶ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܒܙܚܐ ܘܠܢܓܕܐ ܥܠܘ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܠܐܤܘܪܐ ܘܠܚܒܘܫܝܐ ܐܫܬܠܡܘ ܀ ³⁷ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܪܓܡܘ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܢܤܪܘ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܒܦܘܡܐ ܕܤܝܦܐ ܡܝܬܘ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܟܪܟܘ ܟܕ ܠܒܝܫܝܢ ܡܫܟܐ ܕܐܡܪܐ ܘܕܥܙܐ ܘܤܢܝܩܝܢ ܘܐܠܝܨܝܢ ܘܡܛܪܦܝܢ ܀ ³⁸ܐܢܫܐ ܕܠܐ ܫܘܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܘܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܛܥܝܐ ܒܚܘܪܒܐ ܘܒܛܘܪܐ ܘܒܡܥܪܐ ܘܒܦܥܪܝܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܀ ³⁹ܘܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܗܘܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܤܗܕܘܬܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܩܒܠܘ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܀ ⁴⁰ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܩܕܡ ܚܪ ܒܥܘܕܪܢܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܕܠܐ ܒܠܥܕܝܢ ܢܬܓܡܪܘܢ ܀ (SYP)

54 Hebrews 11:32-40 ³²And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: ³³Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. ³⁵Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: ³⁶And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: ³⁷They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; ³⁸(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. ³⁹And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: ⁴⁰God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.(KJV)

For time would fail me to tell of Gideon and of Barak and of Samson and of Jephthah and of David also and Samuel and of the rest of the prophets, ³³Who through faith conquered kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, routed the Camps of enemies, ³⁵Restored to women their sons, raised people from the dead; while others died through tortures, not hoping for deliverance, that they might have a better resurrection; ³⁶Others endured mockings and scourgings; still others were delivered to bonds and imprisonment; ³⁷Some were stoned, some were sawn apart, some died by the edge of the sword; others wandered about, wearing sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, afflicted and tormented, ³⁸Of whom the world was not worthy; they were like those who are lost in the desert, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. ³⁹Thus these all, having obtained a testimonial through the faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰Because God from the beginning provided for our help, lest without us they should not be made perfect. For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets-- ³³who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. ³⁵Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. ³⁶Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. ³⁷They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated-- ³⁸of whom the world was not worthy-- wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

³⁹And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, ⁴⁰since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.(RSV)

I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, ³³who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, ³⁴quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. ³⁵Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. ³⁶Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. ³⁷They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated -- ³⁸the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.

³⁹These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. ⁴⁰God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.(NIV)
