50 First Corinthians 10:6-14 ⁶Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. ⁷Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. ⁸Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. ⁹Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. ¹⁰Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. ¹¹Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. ¹²Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. ¹³There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

50 First Corinthians 10:6-14 ⁶¶ But they became an example to us, so that we should not covet evil things as they did covet. ⁷Neither should we become idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to quarrel. ⁸Neither should we commit adultery, as some of them committed; for in one day twenty-three thousand of them fell dead. ⁹Neither should we tempt Christ, as some of them tempted; for they were destroyed by snakes. ¹⁰Neither should you murmur, as some of them murmured; for they were destroyed by the hand of the destroyer. ¹¹Now all of these things which happened to them are an example for us; and they are written for our admonition, for the fulfillment of the ages has come in our time. ¹²Therefore, let him who thinks he can stand, take heed so that he may not fall. ¹³No other temptation has overtaken you but that which is common to man; but God is faithful; he will not suffer you to be tempted beyond your endurance; but will make a way for you to escape your temptation, so that you may be able to bear it. ¹⁴Therefore, my beloved, keep away from idolatry. 50 First Corinthians 10:6-14 ⁶Now these things are warnings for us, not to desire evil as they did. ⁷Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to dance." ⁸We must not indulge in immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. ⁹We must not put the Lord to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. ¹¹Now these things happened to them as a warning, but they were written down for our instruction, upon whom the end of the ages has come. ¹²Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. ¹³No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

¹⁴Therefore, my beloved, shun the worship of idols. (RSV)

50 First Corinthians 10:6-14 ⁶Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. ⁷Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry." ⁸We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did -- and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. ⁹We should not test the Lord, as some of them did -- and were killed by snakes. ¹⁰And do not grumble, as some of them did -- and were killed by the destroying angel.

¹¹These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. ¹²So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! ¹³No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
