49 Second Timothy 2:1-7 ¹Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. ²And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. ³Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. ⁵And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. ⁶The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. ⁷Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 49 Second Timothy 2:1-7 ¹YOU, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Jesus Christ. ²And the things which you have heard from me by many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. ³Therefore endure hardships as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴No man can be a soldier and also entangle himself with the things of this life, if he would please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. ⁵And if a man also strive for mastery in contest, he is not crowned except he compete lawfully. ⁶The husbandman who labors should be the first to be sustained by the fruits. ⁷Perceive these things: and may our Lord give you wisdom in all things. 49 Second Timothy 2:1-7 ¹You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, ²and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. ³Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴No soldier on service gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to satisfy the one who enlisted him. ⁵An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. ⁶It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. ⁷Think over what I say, for the Lord will grant you understanding in everything.(RSV)

49 Second Timothy 2:1-7 ¹You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. ²And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. ³Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs -- he wants to please his commanding officer. ⁵Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. ⁶The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. ⁷Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.(NIV)
