44 Acts 2:14-36 14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.(KJV)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14But Peter, standing up with the 11, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the hour 3 of the day. 25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy 1 to see corruption. 36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.(KJV/NC)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my words. 15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17And it shall be in the last days, saith God,

I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh:

And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

And your young men shall see visions,

And your old men shall dream dreams:

18Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days

Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

19And I will show wonders in the heaven above,

And signs on the earth beneath;

Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

20The sun shall be turned into darkness,

And the moon into blood,

Before the day of the Lord come,

That great and notable day.

21And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know; 23him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay: 24whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25For David saith concerning him,

I beheld the Lord always before my face;

For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;

Moreover my flesh also shall dwell in hope:

27Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades,

Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.

28Thou madest known unto me the ways of life;

Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance.

29Brethren, I may say unto you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day. 30Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set one upon his throne; 31he foreseeing this spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left unto Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32This Jesus did God raise up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33Being therefore by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath poured forth this, which ye see and hear. 34For David ascended not into the heavens: but he saith himself,

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

36Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified. (ASV)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14¶ And afterwards Simon Peter stood up together with the eleven disciples, and lifted up his voice and said to them, Men of Jewish race, and all that dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and hearken to my words; 15For these men are not drunken as you suppose, for behold it is but the third hour of the day. 16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17It shall come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams; 18And upon my menservants and upon my maidservants will I pour out my Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy; 19And I will show wonders in heaven and signs on the earth: blood and fire and vapor of smoke: 20The sun shall be changed into darkness and the moon into blood, before that great and fearful day of the Lord shall come. 21And it shall come to pass that whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man of God, who appeared among you by miracles and signs and wonders which God did by him among you, as you yourselves know, 23The very one who was chosen for this purpose from the very beginning of knowledge and will of God, you have delivered into the hands of wicked men, and you have crucified and murdered him; 24Whom God has raised up, having destroyed the pains of death, because it was not possible for Sheol to hold him. 25For David said concerning him, I foresaw my Lord always, for he is on my right hand, so that I should not be shaken; 26Therefore my heart is comforted and my glory is exalted; even my body shall rest in hope, 27Because you will not leave my soul in Sheol, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. 28You have revealed to me the way of life; you will fill me with joy with your presence. 29Now men and brethren, permit me to speak to you openly concerning Patriarch David, who is dead and buried and whose sepulchre is with us to this day; 30For he was a prophet, and he knew that God had sworn by an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up one to sit on his throne. 31So he foresaw and spoke concerning the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in the grave, neither did his body see corruption. 32This very Jesus, God has raised up, and we are all his witnesses. 33It is he who is exalted by the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, and has poured out gifts which you now see and hear. 34For David did not ascend into heaven, because he himself said, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this very Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. (LAM)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day; 16but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17`And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. 19And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day. 21And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

22"Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know-- 23this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. 25For David says concerning him, `I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; 26therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh will dwell in hope. 27For thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let thy Holy One see corruption. 28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence.'

29"Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne, 31he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. 33Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear. 34For David did not ascend into the heavens; but he himself says, `The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, 35till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet.' 36Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."(RSV)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17"`In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

22"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25David said about him: "`I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 26Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, 27because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'

29"Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. 33Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, "`The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand 35until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."'

36"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."(NIV)

44 Acts 2:14-36 14And afterwards Simon Peter stood up together with the 11 disciples, and lifted up his voice and said to them, Men of Jewish race, and all that live at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words; 15For these men are not drunk as you suppose, for look it is but the 3rd hour of the day. 16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17It will come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour my spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams; 18And on my male servants and on my female servants I will pour out my Spirit in those days; and they will prophesy; 19And I will show wonders in heaven and signs on the earth: blood and fire and vapor of smoke: 20The sun will be changed into darkness and the moon into blood, before that great and fearful day of the Lord will come. 21And it will come to pass that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. 22Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man of God, who appeared among you by miracles and signs and wonders which God did by him among you, as you yourselves know, 23The very one who was chosen for this purpose from the very beginning by the knowledge and will of God, you have delivered into the hands of wicked men, and you have crucified and murdered him; 24Whom God has raised up, having destroyed the pains of death, because it was not possible for Sheol to hold him. 25For David said concerning him, I foresaw my Lord always, for he is on my right hand, so that I should not be shaken; 26Therefore, my heart is comforted and my glory is exalted; even my body will rest in hope, 27Because you will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will you permit your Holy One to see corruption. 28You have revealed to me the way of life; you will fill me with joy with your presence. 29Now men and brothers, permit me to speak to you openly concerning Patriarch David, who is dead and buried and whose sepulcher is with us to this day; 30For he was a prophet, and he knew that God had sworn by an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up one to sit on his throne. 31So he foresaw and spoke concerning the resurrection of Messiah, that his soul was not left in the grave, nor did his body see corruption. 32This very Jesus, God has raised up, and we are all his witnesses. 33It is he who is exalted by the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, and has poured out gifts which you now see and hear. 34For David did not ascend into heaven, because he himself said, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, 35Until I make your foes your footstool. 36Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this very Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Messiah.
