43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܝܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܘܢܦܩ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܓܘܤܛܘܤ ܩܤܪ ܕܢܬܟܬܒ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܘܚܕܢܗ ܀ ²ܗܕܐ ܡܟܬܒܢܘܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܒܗܓܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܩܘܪܝܢܘܤ ܒܤܘܪܝܐ ܀ ³ܘܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܟܠܢܫ ܕܢܬܟܬܒ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܗ ܀ ⁴ܤܠܩ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܝܘܤܦ ܡܢ ܢܨܪܬ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܓܠܝܠܐ ܠܝܗܘܕ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܒܝܬ ܠܚܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ ܘܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܀ ⁵ܥܡ ܡܪܝܡ ܡܟܝܪܬܗ ܟܕ ܒܛܢܐ ܕܬܡܢ ܢܬܟܬܒ ܀ (SYP)

43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. ²(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) ³And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. ⁴And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) ⁵To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹Now it came to pass in those days, there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled. ²This was the first enrolment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. ³And all went to enrol themselves, every one to his own city. ⁴And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David; ⁵to enrol himself with Mary, who was betrothed to him, being great with child. 43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹AND it happened in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus to take a census of all the people in his empire. ²This first census took place during the governorship of Quirinius in Syria. ³And every man went to be registered in his own city. ⁴Joseph also went up from Nazareth, a city of Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and family of David; ⁵With his purchased bride Mary, while she was with child, that they might be registered there. 43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. ²This was the first enrollment, when Quirin'i-us was governor of Syria. ³And all went to be enrolled, each to his own city. ⁴And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, ⁵to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 43 Luke 2:1-5 ¹In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. ²(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) ³And everyone went to his own town to register.

⁴So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. ⁵He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. (NIV)
