42 Mark 10:32-45 ³²And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, ³³Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: ³⁴And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

³⁵And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. ³⁶And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? ³⁷They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. ³⁸But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? ³⁹And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: ⁴⁰But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. ⁴¹And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. ⁴²But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. ⁴³But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: ⁴⁴And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.(KJV)

And Jesus said unto them, The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: ⁴⁰but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared. ⁴¹And when the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation concerning James and John. ⁴²And Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them. ⁴³But it is not so among you: but whosoever would become great among you, shall be your minister; ⁴⁴and whosoever would be first among you, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. 42 Mark 10:32-45 ³²¶ While they were going up on their way to Jerusalem, Jesus was ahead of them; and they were amazed; and they followed him with fear. And he took his twelve aside, and began to tell them what was surely to happen to him, saying, ³³Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered to the high priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him to the Gentiles. ³⁴And they will mock him and scourge him and spit in his face and kill him; and on the third day he will rise up. ³⁵And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, Teacher, we wish you would do for us whatever we ask. ³⁶He said to them, What do you wish me to do for you? ³⁷They said to him, Grant us to sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your glory. ³⁸He said to them, You do not know what you are asking; can you drink the cup which I drink and be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized? ³⁹They said to him, We can. Jesus said to them, The cup which I shall drink, you too will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized also; ⁴⁰But to sit at my right and at my left is not mine to give; except to those for whom it is prepared. ⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to murmur at James and John. ⁴²Jesus called them and said to them, You know that those who consider themselves princes of the people are also their lords; and their officials rule over them. ⁴³Let not this be so among you; but he who wishes to be great among you, let him minister to you. ⁴⁴And anyone of you who wishes to be first, let him be a servant to all. ⁴⁵For the Son of man also did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life as a salvation for the sake of many. 42 Mark 10:32-45 ³²And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, ³³saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; ³⁴and they will mock him, and spit upon him, and scourge him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise."

³⁵And James and John, the sons of Zeb'edee, came forward to him, and said to him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you." ³⁶And he said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?" ³⁷And they said to him, "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." ³⁸But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" ³⁹And they said to him, "We are able." And Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; ⁴⁰but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared." ⁴¹And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. ⁴²And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. ⁴³But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. ⁴⁵For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."(RSV)

42 Mark 10:32-45 ³²They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him. ³³"We are going up to Jerusalem," he said, "and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, ³⁴who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise."

³⁵Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. "Teacher," they said, "we want you to do for us whatever we ask."

³⁶"What do you want me to do for you?" he asked.

³⁷They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory."

³⁸"You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?"

³⁹"We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, ⁴⁰but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared."

⁴¹When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. ⁴²Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. ⁴³Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. ⁴⁵For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."(NIV)

Jesus said to them, 'You_P shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you_P shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; ⁴⁰but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.'

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.

⁴²Jesus summoned them, and said to them, 'You_P know that they who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ⁴³But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant. ⁴⁴Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all. ⁴⁵For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'(WEB)

³⁸But Yeshua said to them, 'You don't know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with?'

³⁹They said to him, 'We are able.'

Yeshua said to them, 'You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with; ⁴⁰but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.'

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards Jacob and Yochanan.
