42 Mark 5:9-20 ⁹ܘܫܐܠܗ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܫܡܟ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܓܝܘܢ ܫܡܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܤܓܝܐܐ ܚܢܢ ܀ ¹⁰ܘܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܤܓܝ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܕܪܝܘܗܝ ܠܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܐ ܀ ¹¹ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܛܘܪܐ ܒܩܪܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܕܚܙܝܪܐ ܕܪܥܝܐ ܀ ¹²ܘܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܗ ܗܢܘܢ ܫܐܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܫܕܪܝܢ ܥܠ ܗܢܘܢ ܚܙܝܪܐ ܕܒܗܘܢ ܢܥܘܠ ܀ ¹³ܘܐܦܤ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܢܦܩ ܪܘܚܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܒܚܙܝܪܐ ܘܪܗܛܬ ܗܝ ܒܩܪܐ ܠܫܩܝܦܐ ܘܢܦܠܬ ܒܝܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܬܪܝܢ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܘܐܬܚܢܩܘ ܒܡܝܐ ܀ ¹⁴ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܪܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܪܩܘ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܦ ܒܩܘܪܝܐ ܘܢܦܩܘ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܗܘܐ ܀ ¹⁵ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܚܙܐܘܗܝ ܠܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܠܒܝܫ ܘܡܢܟܦ ܘܝܬܒ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܠܓܝܘܢ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܀ ¹⁶ܘܐܫܬܥܝܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܚܙܘ ܕܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܦ ܥܠ ܗܢܘܢ ܚܙܝܪܐ ܀ ¹⁷ܘܫܪܝܘ ܒܥܝܢ ܡܢܗ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܬܚܘܡܗܘܢ ܀ ¹⁸ܘܟܕ ܤܠܩ ܠܤܦܝܢܬܐ ܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܕܥܡܗ ܢܗܘܐ ܀ ¹⁹ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܗ ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܙܠ ܠܒܝܬܟ ܠܘܬ ܐܢܫܝܟ ܘܐܫܬܥܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝܟ ܀ ²⁰ܘܐܙܠ ܘܫܪܝ ܡܟܪܙ ܒܥܤܪܬ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܬܡܝܗܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܀ (SYP)

42 Mark 5:9-20 ⁹And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. ¹⁰And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. ¹¹Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. ¹²And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. ¹³And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. ¹⁴And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. ¹⁵And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. ¹⁶And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. ¹⁷And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. ¹⁸And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. ¹⁹Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. ²⁰And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass. ¹⁵And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him that had the legion: and they were afraid. ¹⁶And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine. ¹⁷And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. ¹⁸And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him. ¹⁹And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee. ²⁰And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled. And he said to him, Our name is Legion, because we are many. ¹⁰And he begged him eagerly that he would not send him out of the country. ¹¹Now there was near the mountain a large herd of swine feeding. ¹²And the lunatics begged him saying, Send us to the swine, that we may attack them. ¹³And he permitted them. And the lunatics went out and attacked the swine; and the herd ran to the steep rocks, and fell into the sea; they were about two thousand, and they were drowned in the water. ¹⁴And those who fed them, fled, and told it in the city and also in the villages. So they went out to see what had happened. ¹⁵And they came to Jesus, and saw the lunatic, clothed and well behaved, and sitting down quietly, even the one who once had the legion within him; and they were afraid. ¹⁶And those who saw it told them just what happened to the lunatic and also to the swine. ¹⁷So they began to urge him to leave their border. ¹⁸As he went up to the boat, the lunatic begged him to remain with him. ¹⁹And he would not permit him, but said to him, Go to your home, to your own people, and tell them what the Lord has done for you, and that he has had mercy on you. ²⁰And he went away, and began to preach in the ten cities about what Jesus had done for him; and they were all astonished. He replied, "My name is Legion; for we are many." ¹⁰And he begged him eagerly not to send them out of the country. ¹¹Now a great herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; ¹²and they begged him, "Send us to the swine, let us enter them." ¹³So he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.

¹⁴The herdsmen fled, and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. ¹⁵And they came to Jesus, and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. ¹⁶And those who had seen it told what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine. ¹⁷And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their neighborhood. ¹⁸And as he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. ¹⁹But he refused, and said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." ²⁰And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decap'olis how much Jesus had done for him; and all men marveled.(RSV)

42 Mark 5:9-20 ⁹Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." ¹⁰And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

¹¹A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. ¹²The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." ¹³He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

¹⁴Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. ¹⁵When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. ¹⁶Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man -- and told about the pigs as well. ¹⁷Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.

¹⁸As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. ¹⁹Jesus did not let him, but said, "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." ²⁰So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.(NIV)
