40 John 6:4-14 ⁴ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܥܕܥܕܐ ܕܦܨܚܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܀ ⁵ܘܐܪܝܡ ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܚܙܐ ܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܦܝܠܝܦܘܤ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܢܙܒܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܕܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܀ ⁶ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܟܕ ܡܢܤܐ ܠܗ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܐ ܥܬܝܕ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܀ ⁷ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܦܝܠܝܦܘܤ ܕܡܐܬܝܢ ܕܝܢܪܝܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܠܐ ܤܦܩ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܩܠܝܠ ܩܠܝܠ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܤܒ ܀ ⁸ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܐܢܕܪܐܘܤ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܕܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܀ ⁹ܐܝܬ ܬܢܢ ܛܠܝܐ ܚܕ ܕܐܝܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܚܡܫ ܓܪܝܨܢ ܕܤܥܪܐ ܘܬܪܝܢ ܢܘܢܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܀ ¹⁰ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܥܒܕܘ ܐܢܫܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܢܤܬܡܟܘܢ ܥܤܒܐ ܕܝܢ ܤܓܝ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܗܝ ܘܐܤܬܡܟܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܒܡܢܝܢܐ ܚܡܫܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܀ ¹¹ܘܫܩܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܪܟ ܘܦܠܓ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܤܡܝܟܝܢ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܡܢ ܢܘܢܐ ܟܡܐ ܕܨܒܘ ܀ ¹²ܘܟܕ ܤܒܥܘ ܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܟܢܫܘ ܩܨܝܐ ܕܝܬܪܘ ܕܠܐ ܢܐܒܕ ܡܕܡ ܀ ¹³ܘܟܢܫܘ ܘܡܠܘ ܬܪܥܤܪ ܩܘܦܝܢܝܢ ܩܨܝܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܬܪܘ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܟܠܘ ܡܢ ܚܡܫܐ ܠܚܡܝܢ ܕܤܥܪܐ ܀ ¹⁴ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܚܙܘ ܐܬܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܗܢܘ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܀ (SYP)

40 John 6:4-14 ⁴And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

⁵When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? ⁶And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. ⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother, saith unto him, ⁹There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? ¹⁰And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. ¹¹And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. ¹²When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. ¹³Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. ¹⁴Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.(KJV)

Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about 5000. ¹¹And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. ¹²When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. ¹³Therefore they gathered them together, and filled 12 baskets with the fragments of the 5 barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. ¹⁴Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.(KJV/NC)

40 John 6:4-14 ⁴Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. ⁵Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat? ⁶And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷Philip answered him, Two hundred shillings' worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little. ⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, ⁹There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what are these among so many? ¹⁰Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. ¹¹Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down; likewise also of the fishes as much as they would. ¹²And when they were filled, he saith unto his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which remain over, that nothing be lost. ¹³So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which remained over unto them that had eaten. ¹⁴When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world. ⁵¶ And Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw a large crowd coming to him, and he said to Philip, Where can we buy bread that all these may eat? ⁶He said this merely to test him; for he knew what he would do. ⁷Philip said to him, Two hundred pennies worth of bread would not be sufficient for them, even if each one should take a little. ⁸One of his disciples, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, said to him, ⁹There is a boy here who has with him five barley loaves and two fish; but what are these for all of them? ¹⁰Jesus said to them, Make all the men sit down. There was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, five thousand in number. ¹¹And Jesus took the bread and blessed it, and distributed it to those who were sitting down; likewise the fish also, as much as they wanted. ¹²When they were filled, he said to his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, so that nothing is lost. ¹³And they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces which were left over by those who ate from five barley loaves. ¹⁴Then the men who saw the miracle which Jesus performed said, Truly this is the prophet who is to come into the world. 40 John 6:4-14 ⁴Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. ⁵Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a multitude was coming to him, Jesus said to Philip, "How are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?" ⁶This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little." ⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, ⁹"There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what are they among so many?" ¹⁰Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place; so the men sat down, in number about five thousand. ¹¹Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. ¹²And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, "Gather up the fragments left over, that nothing may be lost." ¹³So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten. ¹⁴When the people saw the sign which he had done, they said, "This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world!"(RSV)

40 John 6:4-14 ⁴The Jewish Passover Feast was near.

⁵When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" ⁶He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

⁷Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"

⁸Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, ⁹"Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"

¹⁰Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. ¹¹Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

¹²When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." ¹³So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

¹⁴After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." (NIV)
