Acts Replay 40 John
43 Luke 23:1-56
1And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
7And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herods jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32And there were also two others, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.(KJV)

48And all the multitudes that came together to this sight, when they beheld the things that were done, returned smiting their breasts.
49And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed with him from Galilee, stood afar off, seeing these things.
50And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good and righteous man
51(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), a man of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was looking for the kingdom of God:
52this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
53And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain.
54And it was the day of the Preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55And the women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how his body was laid.

43 Luke 23:1-56
  1THEN the whole company of them rose up and brought him to Pilate;
2And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man misleading our people and forbidding to pay the head tax to Caesar; and he says concerning himself that he is a King, even the Christ.
3Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? He said to him, That is what you say.
4Then Pilate said to the high priests and the people, I cannot find any fault against this man.
5But they shouted and said, He has stirred up our people, teaching throughout Judea, and beginning from Galilee even to this place.
6When Pilate heard the name Galilee, he asked if the man was a Galilean.
7And when he knew that he was under the jurisdiction of Herod, he sent him to Herod, because he was in Jerusalem at that time.
8When Herod saw Jesus he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some miracle by him.
9And he asked him many questions; but Jesus gave him no answer.
10Then the high priests and the scribes stood and accused him bitterly.
11And Herod and his soldiers insulted him and mocked him, and dressed him in a scarlet robe and sent him to Pilate.
12And that day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other; for there had been a long-standing enmity between them.
13¶ Then Pilate called the high priests and the leaders of the people,
14And he said to them, You brought me this man as if he were misleading your people; and behold, 1 have examined him before your own eyes, and I have found no fault in him concerning all that you accuse him.
15Nor even has Herod; for I sent him to him; and behold, he has done nothing worthy of death.
16I will therefore chastise him and release him.
17For there was a custom to release to them one at the feast.
18But all the people cried out saying, Get rid of him and release to us Bar-Abba;
19(Who because of sedition and murder which had happened in the city, was cast into prison.)
20Again Pilate spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.
21But they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him!
22And he said to them the third time, What evil has he done? I have found nothing in him worthy of death; I will therefore chastise him and release him.
23But they persisted with loud voices, and asked to crucify him. And their voices and that of the high priests prevailed.
24Then Pilate commanded to have their request granted.
25So he released to them the one who because of sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they asked for; and he delivered Jesus to their will.
26¶ And while they took him away, they laid hold of Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming from a village, and they placed the end of the cross on him, to carry it with Jesus.
27And many people followed him, and the women who were mourning and wailing over him.
28But Jesus turned to them and said, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me; but weep over yourselves and over your own children.
29For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never gave birth and the breasts that never gave suck.
30Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31For if they do these things with the green wood, what will be done with dry wood?
32¶ And there were coming with him two others, malefactors, to be put to death.
33And when they came to a place which is called The Skull, they crucified him there, and the malefactors, one on his right and one on his left.
34And Jesus said, O Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. And they divided his garments and cast lots over them.
35The people stood looking on. And even the leaders of the synagogue mocked him, and said, He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ, the chosen one of God.
36And the soldiers ridiculed him, as they came near him and offered him vinegar,
37Saying to him, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.
38There was also an inscription which was written over him, in Greek and Roman and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39Now one of the malefactors who were crucified with him blasphemed against him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and save us also.
40But the other rebuked him and said to him, Do you not fear even God, for you are also in the same judgment?
41And ours is just, for we are paid as we deserve and as we have done; but he has done nothing wrong.
42And he said to Jesus, Remember me, my Lord, when you come in your kingdom.
43Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, Today you will be with me in Paradise.
44¶ Now it was about the sixth hour, and darkness fell upon the whole earth, and lasted until the ninth hour.
45And the sun was darkened, and the curtains at the door of the temple were torn in the center.
46Then Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, O my Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. He said this and it was finished
47When the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said. Truly this was a righteous man.
48And all the people who were gathered together to see this sight, when they saw what had happened, returned, beating their breasts.
49And all the acquaintances of Jesus stood afar off, and the women who had come with him from Galilee, and they were beholding these things.
50¶ There was a man named Joseph the counselor of Ramtha, a city of Judea, a good and righteous man.
51He did not agree with their wishes and their actions; and he waited for the kingdom of God.
52He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
53And he took it down and wrapped it in fine linen, and laid it in a hewn tomb in which no one was ever laid.
54This was a Friday, and the sabbath was approaching.
55The women who had come with him from Galilee were near, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid.
56And they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the sabbath they rested, as it is commanded.

43 Luke 23:1-56
1Then the whole company of them arose, and brought him before Pilate.
2And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king."
3And Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" And he answered him, "You have said so."
4And Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, "I find no crime in this man."
5But they were urgent, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place."
6When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.
7And when he learned that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time.
8When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him.
9So he questioned him at some length; but he made no answer.
10The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him.
11And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him; then, arraying him in gorgeous apparel, he sent him back to Pilate.
12And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.
13Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was perverting the people; and after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him;
15neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Behold, nothing deserving death has been done by him;
16I will therefore chastise him and release him."
17But they all cried out together, "Away with this man, and release to us Barab'bas"--
18a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city, and for murder.
19Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus;
20but they shouted out, "Crucify, crucify him!"
21A third time he said to them, "Why, what evil has he done? I have found in him no crime deserving death; I will therefore chastise him and release him."
22But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
23So Pilate gave sentence that their demand should be granted.
24He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
25And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus.
26And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him.
27But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
28For behold, the days are coming when they will say, `Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave suck!'
29Then they will begin to say to the mountains, `Fall on us'; and to the hills, `Cover us.'
30For if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
31Two others also, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him.
32And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.
33And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments.
34And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!"
35The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him vinegar,
36and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!"
37There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews."
38One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
39But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
40And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
41And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
42And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
43It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,
44while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
45Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!" And having said this he breathed his last.
46Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this man was innocent!"
47And all the multitudes who assembled to see the sight, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts.
48And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance and saw these things.
49Now there was a man named Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathe'a. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man,
50who had not consented to their purpose and deed, and he was looking for the kingdom of God.
51This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
52Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud, and laid him in a rock-hewn tomb, where no one had ever yet been laid.
53It was the day of Preparation, and the sabbath was beginning.
54The women who had come with him from Galilee followed, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid;
55then they returned, and prepared spices and ointments. On the sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

1Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.
2And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king."
3So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
4Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."
5But they insisted, "He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here."
6On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.
7When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
8When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform some miracle.
9He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.
10The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him.
11Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate.
12That day Herod and Pilate became friends -- before this they had been enemies.
13Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,
14and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.
15Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.
16Therefore, I will punish him and then release him."
17
18With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!"
19(Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.
21But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"
22For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."
23But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
24So Pilate decided to grant their demand.
25He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
26As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
27A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.
28Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
29For the time will come when you will say, `Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!'
30Then "`they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!"'
31For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
32Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.
33When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals -- one on his right, the other on his left.
34Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
35The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."
36The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar
37and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."
38There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence?
41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,
45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.
47The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man."
48When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.
49But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
50Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
51who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.
52Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body.
53Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.
54It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
55The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.
56Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.(NIV)
