   1Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
6When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
7The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
8When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
 12And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesars friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
13When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
15But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
 16Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
17And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
19And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
21Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
22Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
 23Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
25Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mothers sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
28After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
 31The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.(KJV)

1THEN Pilate had Jesus scourged.
2And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and placed it on his head, and they covered him with purple robes;
3And they said, Peace be to you, O King of the Jews! and they struck him on his cheeks.
4Pilate again went outside and said to them, Behold, I bring him outside to you, so that you may know that I find not even one cause against him.
5So Jesus went outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robes. And Pilate said to them, Behold the man!
6When the high priests and the guards saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him! Pilate said to them, You take him and crucify him; for I find no cause in him.
7The Jews said to him, We have a law, and according to our law he is guilty of death because he made himself the Son of God.
8When Pilate heard this saying, he was the more afraid;
9So he entered again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus, Where do you come from? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10Pilate said to him, Will you not speak even to me? Do you not know that I have the authority to release you, and I have the authority to crucify you?
11Jesus said to him, You would have no authority whatever over me if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the sin of him who delivered me to you is greater than yours.
12And because of this Pilate wanted to release him; but the Jews cried out, If you release this man you are not a friend of Caesar; for whoever makes himself a king is against Caesar.
13When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus outside; then he sat down on the judgment seat at a place which is called the Stone Pavement, but in Hebrew it is called Gabbatha.
14It was Friday of the passover, and it was about six o'clock; and he said to the Jews, Behold your king!
15But they cried out, Take him away, take him away, crucify him, crucify him! Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your king? The high priests said to him, We have no king but Caesar.
16Then he delivered him to them to crucify him. So they took Jesus and brought him forth,
17Carrying his cross, to the place which is called The Skull, but in Hebrew it is called Golgotha,
18Where they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between.
19Pilate also wrote on a stone tablet, and placed it on his cross. And the writing was, THIS IS JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20And a great many Jews read this tablet, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew and in Greek and in Roman.
21The high priests then said to Pilate, Do not write that he is the King of the Jews; but that he said, am the King of the Jews.
22Pilate said, What I have written I have written.
23¶ Now when the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, a part to each of the soldiers; but his robe was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24So they said one to another, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be. And the scripture was fulfilled, which said, They divided my clothes among them, and for my robe they cast lots. These things the soldiers did.
25¶ Now there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother's sister and Mary of Cleopas and Mary of Magdala.
26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son!
27Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that very hour the disciple took her with him.
28After these things Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished; and that the scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst.
29Now there was a pitcher full of vinegar placed there; so they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on the point of a reed and placed it on his mouth.
30¶ When Jesus drank the vinegar, he said, It is fulfilled; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31Now since it was Friday the Jews said, Let not these bodies remain on their crosses because the sabbath is dawning; for that sabbath was a great sabbath. So they besought Pilate to have the legs of those who were crucified broken, and to have the bodies lowered down.
32So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him.
33But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was dead already, so they did not break his legs.
34But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35And he who saw it testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows well that what he said is true, that you also may believe.
36For these things happened that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, Not even a bone shall be broken in him;
37And again another scripture which said, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38¶ After these things Joseph of Ramtha, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.
39And there came also Nicodemus, who at first had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pints.
40So they took away the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial.
41Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no man was yet laid.
42So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.

25So the soldiers did this. But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Mag'dalene.

38After this Joseph of Arimathe'a, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him leave. So he came and took away his body.
39Nicode'mus also, who had at first come to him by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds' weight.
40They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.
41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had ever been laid.
42So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.(RSV)

1Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
2The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe
3and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face.
4Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, "Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him."
5When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"
6As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him."
7The Jews insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God."
8When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,
9and he went back inside the palace. "Where do you come from?" he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.
10"Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?"
11Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."
12From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."
13When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge's seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha).
14It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour. "Here is your king," Pilate said to the Jews.
15But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!" "Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked. "We have no king but Caesar," the chief priests answered.
16Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.
17Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).
18Here they crucified him, and with him two others -- one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.
21The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, "Do not write `The King of the Jews,' but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews."
22Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."
23When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24"Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it." This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, "They divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing." So this is what the soldiers did.
25Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son,"
27and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
28Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty."
29A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips.
30When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
32The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.
33But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
35The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.
36These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken,"
37and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced."
38Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away.
39He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.
40Taking Jesus' body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.
41At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.
42Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.(NIV)

5Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, 'Behold, the man!'
6When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, 'Crucify! Crucify!' Pilate said to them, 'Take him yourselves, and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.'
7The Jews answered him, 'We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.'
8When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.
9He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, 'Where are you from?' But Jesus gave him no answer.
10Pilate therefore said to him, 'Aren't you speaking to me? Don't you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?'
11Jesus answered, 'You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.'
12At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, 'If you release this man, you aren't Caesar's friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!'
13When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called 'The Pavement,' but in Hebrew, 'Gabbatha.'
14Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, 'Behold, your King!'

5So Jesus went outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robes. And Pilate said to them, Look the man.
6When the high priests and the guards saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, You take him and crucify him; for I find no cause in him.
7The Jews said to him, We have a law, and according to our law he is guilty of death because he made himself the Son of God.
8When Pilate heard this saying, he was even more afraid;
9So he entered again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus, Where do you come from? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10Pilate said to him, Will you not speak even to me? Do you not know that I have the authority to release you, and I have the authority to crucify you?
11Jesus said to him, You would have no authority whatever over me if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the sin of him who delivered me to you is greater than yours.
12And because of this Pilate wanted to release him; but the Jews cried out, If you release this man you are not a friend of Caesar; for whoever makes himself a king is against Caesar.
13When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus outside; then he sat down on the judgment seat at a place which is called the Stone Pavement, but in Hebrew it is called Gabbatha.
14It was the day before preparation day, and it was about the 6th hour; and he said to the Jews, Look your king.
15But they cried out, Take him away, take him away, crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, Should I crucify your king? The high priests said to him, We have no king but Caesar.
16Then he delivered him to them to crucify him. So they took Jesus and brought him out,

30When Jesus drank the vinegar, he said, It is fulfilled; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31Now since it was evening the Jews said, Do not let these bodies remain on their crosses because the sabbath is dawning; for that sabbath was a great sabbath. So they begged Pilate to have the legs of those who were crucified broken, and to have the bodies lowered down.
32So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him.
33But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they did not break his legs.
34But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35And he who saw it testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows well that what he said is true, that you may also believe.
36For these things happened that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, Not even a bone will be broken in him;
37And again another scripture which said, They will look on him whom they pierced.
38After these things Joseph of Ramtha, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of fear of the Jews, begged Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.
39And there also came Nicodemus, who at first had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about 100 pints.
40So they took away the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial.
41Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no man was yet laid.
42So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.
