22 Amos

29 Proverbs of Solomon 5:1-23 1My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: 2That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

3For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. 6Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. 7Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. 8Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: 9Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: 10Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; 11And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, 12And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; 13And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. 16Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. 17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers with thee. 18Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. 20And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? 21For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

22His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.(KJV)

29 Proverbs of Solomon 5:1-23 1My son, attend unto my wisdom;

Incline thine ear to my understanding:

2That thou mayest preserve discretion,

And that thy lips may keep knowledge.

3For the lips of a strange woman drop honey,

And her mouth is smoother than oil:

4But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,

Sharp as a two-edged sword.

5Her feet go down to death;

Her steps take hold on Sheol;

6So that she findeth not the level path of life:

Her ways are unstable, and she knoweth it not.

7Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me,

And depart not from the words of my mouth.

8Remove thy way far from her,

And come not nigh the door of her house;

9Lest thou give thine honor unto others,

And thy years unto the cruel;

10Lest strangers be filled with thy strength,

And thy labors be in the house of an alien,

11And thou mourn at thy latter end,

When thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

12And say, How have I hated instruction,

And my heart despised reproof;

13Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers,

Nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14I was well-nigh in all evil

In the midst of the assembly and congregation.

15Drink waters out of thine own cistern,

And running waters out of thine own well.

16Should thy springs be dispersed abroad,

And streams of water in the streets?

17Let them be for thyself alone,

And not for strangers with thee.

18Let thy fountain be blessed;

And rejoice in the wife of thy youth.

19As a loving hind and a pleasant doe,

Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times;

And be thou ravished always with her love.

20For why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman,

And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

21For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah;

And he maketh level all his paths.

22His own iniquities shall take the wicked,

And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

23He shall die for lack of instruction;(ASV)

29 Proverbs of Solomon 5:1-23 1MY son, attend to my wisdom and incline your ear to my understanding, 2That you may heed counsel and that your lips may keep knowledge. 3For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her words are smoother than oil; 4But the end of her life is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5Her feet cause men to go down to death; her steps take her to Sheol. 6She does not tread upon the land of the living, her paths are devious, and are unknown. 7Hear me now therefore, O you children, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. 8Remove your way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house; 9Lest you give your strength to others, and your years to the cruel; 10Lest strangers be filled with your wealth, and your labors be in the house of strangers; 11And you have remorse in your old age, when the flesh of your body is consumed, 12And you say, Why did I hate instruction, and my heart despise reproof, 13And why have I not obeyed the voice of my teacher, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me? 14I was in almost all kinds of evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15¶ Drink water out of your own well, and running water from your own spring. 16Let your water overflow into your streets, let it be disbursed abroad. 17Let it be for yourself alone, let not strangers be partners with you. 18Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19Let her be like a loving hind, and pleasant mountain roe; learn her ways always, and be mindful of her love. 20My son, be not misled by a strange woman, neither embrace the bosom of a strange woman. 21For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and all his paths lie open in his presence. 22The wicked shall be caught by his own iniquities, and he will be bound with the cords of his sins. 23He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. 29 Proverbs of Solomon 5:1-23 1My son, be attentive to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; 2that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. 3For the lips of a loose woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; 4but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol; 6she does not take heed to the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it. 7And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. 8Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house; 9lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless; 10lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of an alien; 11and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed, 12and you say, "How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof! 13I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors. 14I was at the point of utter ruin in the assembled congregation." 15Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well. 16Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you. 18Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, 19a lovely hind, a graceful doe. Let her affection fill you at all times with delight, be infatuated always with her love. 20Why should you be infatuated, my son, with a loose woman and embrace the bosom of an adventuress? 21For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he watches all his paths. 22The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is caught in the toils of his sin. 23He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is lost. (RSV)

29 Proverbs of Solomon 5:1-23 1My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight,

2that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge. 3For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; 4but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. 5Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. 6She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not. 7Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say. 8Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house, 9lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is cruel, 10lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich another man's house. 11At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent. 12You will say, "How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction! 13I would not obey my teachers or listen to my instructors. 14I have come to the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly." 15Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. 16Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? 17Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. 18May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19A loving doe, a graceful deer -- may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love. 20Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife? 21For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths. 22The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. 23He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly.(NIV)
