26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ ²בְּךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה חָ֭סִיתִי אַל־ אֵב֣וֹשָׁה לְעוֹלָ֑ם בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֥ פַלְּטֵֽנִי׃ ³הַטֵּ֤ה אֵלַ֨י׀ אָזְנְךָ֮ מְהֵרָ֪ה הַצִּ֫ילֵ֥נִי הֱיֵ֤ה לִ֨י׀ לְֽצוּר־ מָ֭עוֹז לְבֵ֥ית מְצוּד֗וֹת לְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ ⁴כִּֽי־ סַלְעִ֣י וּמְצוּדָתִ֣י אָ֑תָּה וּלְמַ֥עַן שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ תַּֽנְחֵ֥נִי וּֽתְנַהֲלֵֽנִי׃ ⁵תּוֹצִיאֵ֗נִי מֵרֶ֣שֶׁת ז֭וּ טָ֣מְנוּ לִ֑י כִּֽי־ אַ֝תָּה מָֽעוּזִּֽי׃ ⁶בְּיָדְךָ֮ אַפְקִ֪יד ר֫וּחִ֥י פָּדִ֖יתָה אוֹתִ֥י יְהוָ֗ה אֵ֣ל אֱמֶֽת׃ ⁷שָׂנֵ֗אתִי הַשֹּׁמְרִ֥ים הַבְלֵי־ שָׁ֑וְא וַ֝אֲנִ֗י אֶל־ יְהוָ֥ה בָּטָֽחְתִּי׃ ⁸אָגִ֥ילָה וְאֶשְׂמְחָ֗ה בְּחַ֫סְדֶּ֥ךָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר רָ֭אִיתָ אֶת־ עָנְיִ֑י יָ֝דַ֗עְתָּ בְּצָר֥וֹת נַפְשִֽׁי׃ ⁹וְלֹ֣א הִ֭סְגַּרְתַּנִי בְּיַד־ אוֹיֵ֑ב הֶֽעֱמַ֖דְתָּ בַמֶּרְחָ֣ב רַגְלָֽי׃ ¹⁰חָנֵּ֥נִי יְהוָה֮ כִּ֤י צַ֫ר־ לִ֥י עָשְׁשָׁ֖ה בְכַ֥עַס עֵינִ֗י נַפְשִׁ֥י וּבִטְנִֽי׃ ¹¹כִּ֤י כָל֪וּ בְיָג֡וֹן חַיַּי֮ וּשְׁנוֹתַ֪י בַּאֲנָ֫חָ֥ה כָּשַׁ֣ל בַּעֲוֹנִ֣י כֹחִ֑י וַעֲצָמַ֥י עָשֵֽׁשׁוּ׃ ¹²מִכָּל־ צֹרְרַ֨י הָיִ֪יתִי חֶרְפָּ֡ה וְלִשֲׁכֵנַ֨י׀ מְאֹד֮ וּפַ֪חַד לִֽמְיֻדָּ֫עָ֥י רֹאַ֥י בַּח֑וּץ נָדְד֥וּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ ¹³נִ֭שְׁכַּחְתִּי כְּמֵ֣ת מִלֵּ֑ב הָ֝יִ֗יתִי כִּכְלִ֥י אֹבֵֽד׃ ¹⁴כִּ֤י שָׁמַ֨עְתִּי׀ דִּבַּ֥ת רַבִּים֮ מָג֪וֹר מִסָּ֫בִ֥יב בְּהִוָּסְדָ֣ם יַ֣חַד עָלַ֑י לָקַ֖חַת נַפְשִׁ֣י זָמָֽמוּ׃ ¹⁵וַאֲנִ֤י׀ עָלֶ֣יךָ בָטַ֣חְתִּי יְהוָ֑ה אָ֝מַ֗רְתִּי אֱלֹהַ֥י אָֽתָּה׃ ¹⁶בְּיָדְךָ֥ עִתֹּתָ֑י הַצִּ֘ילֵ֤נִי מִיַּד־ א֝וֹיְבַ֗י וּמֵרֹדְפָֽי׃ ¹⁷הָאִ֣ירָה פָ֭נֶיךָ עַל־ עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ ה֖וֹשִׁיעֵ֣נִי בְחַסְדֶּֽךָ׃ ¹⁸יְֽהוָ֗ה אַל־ אֵ֭בוֹשָׁה כִּ֣י קְרָאתִ֑יךָ יֵבֹ֥שׁוּ רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים יִדְּמ֥וּ לִשְׁאֽוֹל׃ ¹⁹תֵּ֥אָלַ֗מְנָה שִׂפְתֵ֫י שָׁ֥קֶר הַדֹּבְר֖וֹת עַל־ צַדִּ֥יק עָתָ֗ק בְּגַאֲוָ֥ה וָבֽוּז׃ ²⁰מָ֤ה רַֽב־ טוּבְךָ֮ אֲשֶׁר־ צָפַ֪נְתָּ לִּֽירֵ֫אֶ֥יךָ פָּ֭עַלְתָּ לַחֹסִ֣ים בָּ֑ךְ נֶ֝֗גֶד בְּנֵ֣י אָדָם׃ ²¹תַּסְתִּירֵ֤ם׀ בְּסֵ֥תֶר פָּנֶיךָ֮ מֵֽרֻכְסֵ֫י אִ֥ישׁ תִּצְפְּנֵ֥ם בְּסֻכָּ֗ה מֵרִ֥יב לְשֹׁנֽוֹת׃ ²²בָּר֥וּךְ יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֥י הִפְלִ֘יא חַסְדּ֥וֹ לִ֝֗י בְּעִ֣יר מָצֽוֹר׃ ²³וַאֲנִ֤י׀ אָ֘מַ֤רְתִּי בְחָפְזִ֗י נִגְרַזְתִּי֮ מִנֶּ֪גֶד עֵ֫ינֶ֥יךָ אָכֵ֗ן שָׁ֭מַעְתָּ ק֥וֹל תַּחֲנוּנַ֗י בְּשַׁוְּעִ֥י אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ ²⁴אֶֽהֱב֥וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֗ה כָּֽל־ חֲסִ֫ידָ֥יו אֱ֭מוּנִים נֹצֵ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה וּמְשַׁלֵּ֥ם עַל־ יֶ֝֗תֶר עֹשֵׂ֥ה גַאֲוָֽה׃ (WLC)

26 Psalms 31:1

26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

²Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.

³For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy names sake lead me, and guide me.

⁴Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.

⁵Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

⁶I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

⁷I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;

⁸And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.

⁹Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

¹⁰For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

¹¹I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

¹²I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

¹³For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

¹⁴But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁵My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

¹⁶Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies sake.

¹⁷Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.

¹⁸Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

¹⁹Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

²⁰Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

²¹Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.

²²For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

²³O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

²⁴Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.(KJV)

Let me never be put to shame:

Deliver me in thy righteousness.

²Bow down thine ear unto me; deliver me speedily:

Be thou to me a strong rock,

A house of defence to save me.

³For thou art my rock and my fortress;

Therefore for thy name's sake lead me and guide me.

⁴Pluck me out of the net that they have laid privily for me;

For thou art my stronghold.

⁵Into thy hand I commend my spirit:

Thou hast redeemed me, O Jehovah, thou God of truth.

⁶I hate them that regard lying vanities;

But I trust in Jehovah.

⁷I will be glad and rejoice in thy lovingkindness;

For thou hast seen my affliction:

Thou hast known my soul in adversities;

⁸And thou hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy;

Thou hast set my feet in a large place.

⁹Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, for I am in distress:

Mine eye wasteth away with grief, yea, my soul and my body.

¹⁰For my life is spent with sorrow,

And my years with sighing:

My strength faileth because of mine iniquity,

And my bones are wasted away.

¹¹Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach,

Yea, unto my neighbors exceedingly,

And a fear to mine acquaintance:

They that did see me without fled from me.

¹²I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind:

I am like a broken vessel.

¹³For I have heard the defaming of many,

Terror on every side:

While they took counsel together against me,

They devised to take away my life.

¹⁴But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah:

I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁵My times are in thy hand:

Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

¹⁶Make thy face to shine upon thy servant:

Save me in thy lovingkindness.

¹⁷Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; for I have called upon thee:

Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸Let the lying lips be dumb,

Which speak against the righteous insolently,

With pride and contempt.

¹⁹Oh how great is thy goodness,

Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee,

Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee,

Before the sons of men!

²⁰In the covert of thy presence wilt thou hide them from the plottings of man:

Thou wilt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

²¹Blessed be Jehovah;

For he hath showed me his marvellous lovingkindness in a strong city.

²²As for me, I said in my haste,

I am cut off from before thine eyes:

Nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications

When I cried unto thee.

²³Oh love Jehovah, all ye his saints:

Jehovah preserveth the faithful,

And plentifully rewardeth him that dealeth proudly.

²⁴Be strong, and let your heart take courage,(ASV)

26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹IN thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in thy righteousness. ²Incline thine ear to me and answer me speedily; be thou unto me the God, the helper, and the house of refuge; and save me, ³For thou art my strength and my refuge; therefore for thy name's sake comfort me and guide me. ⁴Pull me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me; for thou art my protector. ⁵Into thy hand I commit my spirit; thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. ⁶I have hated them that observe false worship; but I trust in thee, O LORD. ⁷I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy; for thou hast seen my humility; thou hast known my soul in adversities; ⁸And thou hast not surrendered me into the hand of my enemies; thou hast established my feet in tranquility.

⁹¶ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in distress; mine eye is troubled with wrath, yea, my soul and my body. ¹⁰For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength is weakened because of poverty, and my bones are shaken because of my enemies. ¹¹I have become a reproach to my neighbors and a dread to my acquaintances: they that saw me on the street fled from me. ¹²I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like something given up for lost. ¹³For I have heard of the complicity of many persons; while they connived together against me, they schemed to take away my life. ¹⁴But I trusted in thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my God, O LORD. ¹⁵The times are in thy hand; deliver me from the hand of mine enemies and from them that persecute me. ¹⁶Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me through thy mercies. ¹⁷Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee; let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. ¹⁸Let the lips of the wicked be silent; for they speak falsely and disdainfully against the righteous.

¹⁹¶ Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that worship thee, which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! ²⁰Hide them in the citadel of thy presence from the tumult of men; with thy shadow guard them from contention. ²¹Blessed be the LORD, for he has elected for himself the chosen ones in a strong city? ²²I said in my haste, I am lost from before thine eyes; nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. ²³O love the LORD, all you his righteous ones; for the LORD preserves the faithful, and rewards the wicked according to their works. ²⁴Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all you that trust in the LORD. 26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. ²In thee, O LORD, do I seek refuge; let me never be put to shame; in thy righteousness deliver me! ³Incline thy ear to me, rescue me speedily! Be thou a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! ⁴Yea, thou art my rock and my fortress; for thy name's sake lead me and guide me, ⁵take me out of the net which is hidden for me, for thou art my refuge. ⁶Into thy hand I commit my spirit; thou hast redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God. ⁷Thou hatest those who pay regard to vain idols; but I trust in the LORD. ⁸I will rejoice and be glad for thy steadfast love, because thou hast seen my affliction, thou hast taken heed of my adversities, ⁹and hast not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; thou hast set my feet in a broad place. ¹⁰Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul and my body also. ¹¹For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my misery, and my bones waste away. ¹²I am the scorn of all my adversaries, a horror to my neighbors, an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. ¹³I have passed out of mind like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. ¹⁴Yea, I hear the whispering of many-- terror on every side!-- as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. ¹⁵But I trust in thee, O LORD, I say, "Thou art my God." ¹⁶My times are in thy hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors! ¹⁷Let thy face shine on thy servant; save me in thy steadfast love! ¹⁸Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I call on thee; let the wicked be put to shame, let them go dumbfounded to Sheol. ¹⁹Let the lying lips be dumb, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt. ²⁰O how abundant is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those who fear thee, and wrought for those who take refuge in thee, in the sight of the sons of men! ²¹In the covert of thy presence thou hidest them from the plots of men; thou holdest them safe under thy shelter from the strife of tongues. ²²Blessed be the LORD, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was beset as in a besieged city. ²³I had said in my alarm, "I am driven far from thy sight." But thou didst hear my supplications, when I cried to thee for help. ²⁴Love the LORD, all you his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful, but abundantly requites him who acts haughtily. [ (Psalms 31:25) Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD! ] (RSV)

26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.

²Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;

be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.

³Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

⁴Free me from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.

⁵Into your hands I commit my spirit;
redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.

⁶I hate those who cling to worthless idols;
I trust in the LORD.

⁷I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.

⁸You have not handed me over to the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.

⁹Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;
my eyes grow weak with sorrow,
my soul and my body with grief.

¹⁰My life is consumed by anguish
and my years by groaning;

my strength fails because of my affliction,
and my bones grow weak.

¹¹Because of all my enemies,
I am the utter contempt of my neighbors;

I am a dread to my friends --
those who see me on the street flee from me.

¹²I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;
I have become like broken pottery.

¹³For I hear the slander of many;
there is terror on every side;

they conspire against me
and plot to take my life.

¹⁴But I trust in you, O LORD;
I say, "You are my God."

¹⁵My times are in your hands;
deliver me from my enemies
and from those who pursue me.

¹⁶Let your face shine on your servant;
save me in your unfailing love.

¹⁷Let me not be put to shame, O LORD,
for I have cried out to you;

but let the wicked be put to shame
and lie silent in the grave.

¹⁸Let their lying lips be silenced,
for with pride and contempt
they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

¹⁹How great is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you,

which you bestow in the sight of men
on those who take refuge in you.

²⁰In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from the intrigues of men;

in your dwelling you keep them safe
from accusing tongues.

²¹Praise be to the LORD,
for he showed his wonderful love to me
when I was in a besieged city.

²²In my alarm I said,
"I am cut off from your sight!"

Yet you heard my cry for mercy
when I called to you for help.

²³Love the LORD, all his saints!
The LORD preserves the faithful,
but the proud he pays back in full.

²⁴Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.(NIV)

¹⁰For my life is spent with sorrow,

My strength fails because of my iniquity.
My bones are wasted away.

¹¹Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors,
A fear to my acquaintances.
Those who saw me on the street fled from me.

¹²I am forgotten from their hearts like a dead man.
I am like broken pottery.

¹³For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side,
While they conspire together against me,
They plot to take away my life.

¹⁴But I trust in you, Yahweh_f .
I said, 'You are my God.'

¹⁵My times are in your hand.
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.

¹⁶Make your face to shine on your servant.
Save me in your loving kindness.

¹⁷Let me not be disappointed, Yahweh_f , for I have called on you.
Let the wicked be disappointed. Let them be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸Let the lying lips be mute,
Which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt.

¹⁹Oh how great is your goodness,
Which you have laid up for those who fear you,
Which you have worked for those who take refuge in you,
Before the sons of men!

²⁰In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man.
You will keep them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues.

²¹Praise be to Yahweh,
For he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city.

²²As for me, I said in my haste, 'I am cut off from before your eyes.'
Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you.

²³Oh love Yahweh, all you_P his saints!
Yahweh preserves the faithful,

And pays back him who deals proudly in full.

²⁴Be strong, and let your heart take courage,

my years with sighing.

My strength fails because of my iniquity.
My bones are wasted away.

¹¹Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors,
A fear to my acquaintances.
Those who saw me on the street fled from me.

¹²I am forgotten from their hearts like a dead man.
I am like broken pottery.

¹³For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side,
while they conspire together against me,
they plot to take away my life.

¹⁴But I trust in you, LORD_f .
I said, 'You are my God.'

¹⁵My times are in your hand.
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.

¹⁶Make your face to shine on your servant.
Save me in your loving kindness.

¹⁷Let me not be disappointed, LORD_f , for I have called on you.
Let the wicked be disappointed.
Let them be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸Let the lying lips be mute,
which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt.

¹⁹Oh how great is your goodness,
which you have laid up for those who fear you,
which you have worked for those who take refuge in you,
before the sons of men!

²⁰In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man.
You will keep them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues.

²¹Praise be to the LORD,
for he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city.

²²As for me, I said in my haste, 'I am cut off from before your eyes.'
Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you.

²³Oh love the LORD, all you his holy ones!
The LORD preserves the faithful,

and fully recompenses him who behaves arrogantly.

26 Psalms 31:1-24 ¹IN you, oh Yahvah, I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in your righteousness. ²Incline your ear to me and answer me speedily; be to me the God, the helper, and the house of refuge; and save me, ³For you are my strength and my refuge; therefore for your name's sake comfort me and guide me. ⁴Pull me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me; for you are my protector. ⁵Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, oh Yahvah God of truth. ⁶I have hated those who observe false worship; but I trust in you, oh Yahvah. ⁷I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy; for you have seen my humility; you have known my soul in adversities; ⁸And you have not surrendered me into the hand of my enemies; you have established my feet in tranquility.

⁹Have mercy on me, oh Yahvah, for I am in distress; my eye is troubled with wrath, yes, my soul and my body. ¹⁰For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength is weakened because of poverty, and my bones are shaken because of my enemies. ¹¹I have become a disgrace to my neighbors and a dread to my acquaintances: those who saw me on the street fled from me. ¹²I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like something given up for lost. ¹³For I have heard of the complicity of many persons; while they connived together against me, they schemed to take away my life. ¹⁴But I trusted in you, oh Yahvah; I said, You are my God, oh Yahvah. ¹⁵The times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. ¹⁶Make your face shine on your servant; save me through your mercies. ¹⁷Do not let me be ashamed, oh Yahvah; for I have called on you; let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. ¹⁸Let the lips of the wicked be silent; for they speak falsely and disdainfully against the righteous.

¹⁹Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who worship you, which you have worked for those who trust in you before the sons of men. ²⁰Hide them in the citadel of your presence from the tumult of men; with your shadow guard them from contention. ²¹Blessed be Yahvah, for he has elected for himself the chosen ones in a strong city. ²²I said in my haste, I am lost from before your eyes; nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to you. ²³Oh love Yahvah, all his righteous ones; for Yahvah preserves the faithful, and rewards the wicked according to their works. ²⁴Be of good courage and he will strengthen your heart, all you who trust in Yahvah.
