26 Psalms 2:1-12 ¹לָ֭מָּה רָגְשׁ֣וּ גוֹיִ֑ם וּ֝לְאֻמִּ֗ים יֶהְגּוּ־ רִֽיק׃ ²יִ֥תְיַצְּב֨וּ׀ מַלְכֵי־ אֶ֗רֶץ וְרוֹזְנִ֥ים נֽוֹסְדוּ־ יָ֑חַד עַל־ יְ֝הוָה וְעַל־ מְשִׁיחֽוֹ׃ ³נְֽ֭נַתְּקָה אֶת־ מֽוֹסְרוֹתֵ֑ימוֹ וְנַשְׁלִ֖יכָה מִמֶּ֣נּוּ עֲבֹתֵֽימוֹ׃ ⁴יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִשְׂחָ֑ק אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י יִלְעַג־ לָֽמוֹ׃ ⁵אָ֤ז יְדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלֵ֣ימוֹ בְאַפּ֑וֹ וּֽבַחֲרוֹנ֥וֹ יְבַהֲלֵֽמוֹ׃ ⁶וַ֭אֲנִי נָסַ֣כְתִּי מַלְכִּ֑י עַל־ צִ֝יּ֗וֹן הַר־ קָדְשִֽׁי׃ ⁷אֲסַפְּרָ֗ה אֶֽ֫ל חֹ֥ק יְֽהוָ֗ה אָמַ֘ר אֵלַ֥י בְּנִ֥י אַ֑תָּה אֲ֝נִ֗י הַיּ֥וֹם יְלִדְתִּֽיךָ׃ ⁸שְׁאַ֤ל מִמֶּ֗נִּי וְאֶתְּנָ֣ה ג֭וֹיִם נַחֲלָתֶ֑ךָ וַ֝אֲחֻזָּתְךָ֗ אַפְסֵי־ אָֽרֶץ׃ ⁹תְּ֭רֹעֵם בְּשֵׁ֣בֶט בַּרְזֶ֑ל כִּכְלִ֖י יוֹצֵ֣ר תְּנַפְּצֵֽם׃ ¹⁰וְ֭עַתָּה מְלָכִ֣ים הַשְׂכִּ֑ילוּ הִ֝וָּסְר֗וּ שֹׁ֣פְטֵי אָֽרֶץ׃ ¹¹עִבְד֣וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה בְּיִרְאָ֑ה וְ֝גִ֗ילוּ בִּרְעָדָֽה׃ ¹²נַשְּׁקוּ־ בַ֡ר פֶּן־ יֶאֱנַ֤ף׀ וְתֹ֬אבְדוּ דֶ֗רֶךְ כִּֽי־ יִבְעַ֣ר כִּמְעַ֣ט אַפּ֑וֹ אַ֝שְׁרֵ֗י כָּל־ ח֥וֹסֵי בֽוֹ׃ (WLC)

26 Psalms 2:1

26 Psalms 2:1-12 ¹Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

²The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

³Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

⁴He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

⁵Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

⁶Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

⁷I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

⁸Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

⁹Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potters vessel.

¹⁰Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

¹¹Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

¹²Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.(KJV)

And the peoples meditate a vain thing?

²The kings of the earth set themselves,

And the rulers take counsel together,

Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,

³Let us break their bonds asunder,

And cast away their cords from us.

⁴He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh:

The Lord will have them in derision.

⁵Then will he speak unto them in his wrath,

And vex them in his sore displeasure:

⁶Yet I have set my king

Upon my holy hill of Zion.

⁷I will tell of the decree:

Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son;

This day have I begotten thee.

⁸Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance,

And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

⁹Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron;

Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

¹⁰Now therefore be wise, O ye kings:

Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

¹¹Serve Jehovah with fear,

And rejoice with trembling.

¹²Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way,(ASV)

26 Psalms 2:1-12 ¹WHY do the Gentiles rage and the peoples imagine vain things? ²The kings of the earth and the rulers have conspired and have taken counsel together against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, ³Let us break their bands asunder, and let us cast away their yoke from us. ⁴He that dwells in heaven shall laugh, and the LORD shall mock at them. ⁵Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath and say, ⁶I have appointed my king over Zion, my holy mountain,

⁷¶ To declare my promise; the LORD has said to me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. ⁸Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for your dominion. ⁹You shall shepherd them with a rod of iron; you shall break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

¹⁰¶ Be wise now, therefore, O kings; be instructed, O judges of the earth. ¹¹Serve the LORD with reverence, and uphold him with trembling. ¹²Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from his way while his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (LAM)

26 Psalms 2:1-12 ¹Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? ²The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and his anointed, saying, ³"Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us." ⁴He who sits in the heavens laughs; the LORD has them in derision. ⁵Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, ⁶"I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill." ⁷I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my son, today I have begotten you. ⁸Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. ⁹You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." ¹⁰Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. ¹¹Serve the LORD with fear, with trembling ¹²kiss his feet, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way; for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (RSV)

26 Psalms 2:1-12 ¹Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?

²The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together

against the LORD and against his Anointed One.

³"Let us break their chains," they say,
"and throw off their fetters."

⁴The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.

⁵Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

⁶"I have installed my King
on Zion, my holy hill."

⁷I will proclaim the decree of the LORD:

He said to me, "You are my Son;
today I have become your Father.

⁸Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.

⁹You will rule them with an iron scepter;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery."

¹⁰Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.

¹¹Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.

¹²Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.(NIV)

Against Yahweh, and against his anointed, saying,

³'Let's break their bonds apart,
And cast away their cords from us.'

⁵Then he will speak to them in his anger,
And terrify them in his wrath:

⁶'Yet I have set my king on my holy hill of Zion.'

Yahweh said to me, 'You are my son.
Today I have become your father.

⁸Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance,
The uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.

⁹You shall break them with a rod of iron.
