20 Micah 7:1-20 ¹אַ֣לְלַי לִ֗י כִּ֤י הָיִ֙יתִי֙ כְּאָסְפֵּי־ קַ֔יִץ כְּעֹלְלֹ֖ת בָּצִ֑יר אֵין־ אֶשְׁכּ֣וֹל לֶאֱכ֔וֹל בִּכּוּרָ֖ה אִוְּתָ֥ה נַפְשִֽׁי׃ ²אָבַ֤ד חָסִיד֙ מִן־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְיָשָׁ֥ר בָּאָדָ֖ם אָ֑יִן כֻּלָּם֙ לְדָמִ֣ים יֶאֱרֹ֔בוּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת־ אָחִ֖יהוּ יָצ֥וּדוּ חֵֽרֶם׃ ³עַל־ הָרַ֤ע כַּפַּ֙יִם֙ לְהֵיטִ֔יב הַשַּׂ֣ר שֹׁאֵ֔ל וְהַשֹּׁפֵ֖ט בַּשִּׁלּ֑וּם וְהַגָּד֗וֹל דֹּבֵ֨ר הַוַּ֥ת נַפְשׁ֛וֹ ה֖וּא וַֽיְעַבְּתֽוּהָ׃ ⁴טוֹבָ֣ם כְּחֵ֔דֶק יָשָׁ֖ר מִמְּסוּכָ֑ה י֤וֹם מְצַפֶּ֙יךָ֙ פְּקֻדָּתְךָ֣ בָ֔אָה עַתָּ֥ה תִהְיֶ֖ה מְבוּכָתָֽם׃ ⁵אַל־ תַּאֲמִ֣ינוּ בְרֵ֔עַ אַֽל־ תִּבְטְח֖וּ בְּאַלּ֑וּף מִשֹּׁכֶ֣בֶת חֵיקֶ֔ךָ שְׁמֹ֖ר פִּתְחֵי־ פִֽיךָ׃ ⁶כִּֽי־ בֵן֙ מְנַבֵּ֣ל אָ֔ב בַּ֚ת קָמָ֣ה בְאִמָּ֔הּ כַּלָּ֖ה בַּחֲמֹתָ֑הּ אֹיְבֵ֥י אִ֖ישׁ אַנְשֵׁ֥י בֵיתֽוֹ׃ ⁷וַאֲנִי֙ בַּיהוָ֣ה אֲצַפֶּ֔ה אוֹחִ֖ילָה לֵאלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעִ֑י יִשְׁמָעֵ֖נִי אֱלֹהָֽי׃ ⁸אַֽל־ תִּשְׂמְחִ֤י אֹיַ֙בְתִּי֙ לִ֔י כִּ֥י נָפַ֖לְתִּי קָ֑מְתִּי כִּֽי־ אֵשֵׁ֣ב בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ יְהוָ֖ה א֥וֹר לִֽי׃

⁹זַ֤עַף יְהוָה֙ אֶשָּׂ֔א כִּ֥י חָטָ֖אתִי ל֑וֹ עַד֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֤יב רִיבִי֙ וְעָשָׂ֣ה מִשְׁפָּטִ֔י יוֹצִיאֵ֣נִי לָא֔וֹר אֶרְאֶ֖ה בְּצִדְקָתֽוֹ׃ ¹⁰וְתֵרֶ֤א אֹיַ֙בְתִּי֙ וּתְכַסֶּ֣הָ בוּשָׁ֔ה הָאֹמְרָ֣ה אֵלַ֔י אַיּ֖וֹ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יִךְ עֵינַי֙ תִּרְאֶ֣ינָּה בָּ֔הּ עַתָּ֛ה תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה לְמִרְמָ֖ס כְּטִ֥יט חוּצֽוֹת׃ ¹¹י֖וֹם לִבְנ֣וֹת גְּדֵרָ֑יִךְ י֥וֹם הַה֖וּא יִרְחַק־ חֹֽק׃ ¹²י֥וֹם הוּא֙ וְעָדֶ֣יךָ יָב֔וֹא לְמִנִּ֥י אַשּׁ֖וּר וְעָרֵ֣י מָצ֑וֹר וּלְמִנִּ֤י מָצוֹר֙ וְעַד־ נָהָ֔ר וְיָ֥ם מִיָּ֖ם וְהַ֥ר הָהָֽר׃ ¹³וְהָיְתָ֥ה הָאָ֛רֶץ לִשְׁמָמָ֖ה עַל־ יֹֽשְׁבֶ֑יהָ מִפְּרִ֖י מַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃

¹⁴רְעֵ֧ה עַמְּךָ֣ בְשִׁבְטֶ֗ךָ צֹ֚אן נַֽחֲלָתֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֣י לְבָדָ֔ד יַ֖עַר בְּת֣וֹךְ כַּרְמֶ֑ל יִרְע֥וּ בָשָׁ֛ן וְגִלְעָ֖ד כִּימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃ ¹⁵כִּימֵ֥י צֵאתְךָ֖ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אַרְאֶ֖נּוּ נִפְלָאֽוֹת׃ ¹⁶יִרְא֤וּ גוֹיִם֙ וְיֵבֹ֔שׁוּ מִכֹּ֖ל גְּבֽוּרָתָ֑ם יָשִׂ֤ימוּ יָד֙ עַל־ פֶּ֔ה אָזְנֵיהֶ֖ם תֶּחֱרַֽשְׁנָה׃ ¹⁷יְלַחֲכ֤וּ עָפָר֙ כַּנָּחָ֔שׁ כְּזֹחֲלֵ֣י אֶ֔רֶץ יִרְגְּז֖וּ מִמִּסְגְּרֹֽתֵיהֶ֑ם אֶל־ יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ יִפְחָ֔דוּ וְיִֽרְא֖וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ ¹⁸מִי־ אֵ֣ל כָּמ֗וֹךָ נֹשֵׂ֤א עָוֹן֙ וְעֹבֵ֣ר עַל־ פֶּ֔שַׁע לִשְׁאֵרִ֖ית נַחֲלָת֑וֹ לֹא־ הֶחֱזִ֤יק לָעַד֙ אַפּ֔וֹ כִּֽי־ חָפֵ֥ץ חֶ֖סֶד הֽוּא׃ ¹⁹יָשׁ֣וּב יְרַֽחֲמֵ֔נוּ יִכְבֹּ֖שׁ עֲוֹֽנֹתֵ֑ינוּ וְתַשְׁלִ֛יךְ בִּמְצֻל֥וֹת יָ֖ם כָּל־ חַטֹּאותָֽם׃ ²⁰תִּתֵּ֤ן אֱמֶת֙ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב חֶ֖סֶד לְאַבְרָהָ֑ם אֲשֶׁר־ נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לַאֲבֹתֵ֖ינוּ מִ֥ימֵי קֶֽדֶם׃ (WLC)

20 Micah 7:1

20 Micah 7:1-20 ¹Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. ²The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

³That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. ⁴The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

⁵Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. ⁶For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a mans enemies are the men of his own house. ⁷Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

⁸Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. ⁹I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. ¹⁰Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets. ¹¹In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed. ¹²In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. ¹³Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

¹⁴Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old. ¹⁵According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

¹⁶The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf. ¹⁷They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee. ¹⁸Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. ¹⁹He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.(KJV)

Mine eyes shall see my desire upon her; now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets. ¹¹A day for building thy walls! in that day shall the decree be far removed. ¹²In that day shall they come unto thee from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt even to the River, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. ¹³Yet shall the land be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings. ¹⁴Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy heritage, which dwell solitarily, in the forest in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old. ¹⁵As in the days of thy coming forth out of the land of Egypt will I show unto them marvellous things. ¹⁶The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hand upon their mouth; their ears shall be deaf. ¹⁷They shall lick the dust like a serpent; like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their close places; they shall come with fear unto Jehovah our God, and shall be afraid because of thee. ¹⁸Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in lovingkindness. ¹⁹He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the lovingkindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.(ASV)

20 Micah 7:1-20 ¹WOE is me! for I have become as when they have gathered the summer fruit, as the grape gleanings of the vintage; there is no cluster to eat; my soul craves the first ripe fruit. ²The righteous man has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men; they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother for destruction. ³Their hands are ready to do evil, and they never do good; the governor asks for gold, and the judge says, Give me a bribe; and the prince speaks the desire of his soul. ⁴They have rejected the best part of them, and have become like rags which are eaten by the moth; the day of your watchmen and your salvation is come; but now it shall be their mourning. ⁵Trust not in your friends, put no confidence in your neighbors, guard the words of your mouth from your wife. ⁶For the son curses his father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the members of his own household.

⁷¶ Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God my Saviour; my God will hear me. ⁸Rejoice not over me, O my enemy, because I have fallen; I shall rise again; though I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light to me. ⁹I will bear the affliction of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and avenges me; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall see his righteousness. ¹⁰Then my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said to me, Where is the LORD your God? My eyes shall behold her; now she shall be trodden down like the mire of the streets. ¹¹It is a day to build your walls; it is a day to be lifted up. ¹²It is a day when the people shall come to you from Assyria and from the fortified cities and from Tyre and even to the river and from sea to sea, as far as mount Hor. ¹³Nevertheless the land shall be desolate to its inhabitants because of the fruit of their doings.

¹⁴¶ Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy heritage, who shall dwell alone like sheep in the midst of Carmel; let them feed in Mathnin and Gilead, as in the days of old. ¹⁵As in the day when you came out of the land of Egypt will I again show them marvellous things. ¹⁶The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf. ¹⁷They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth; they shall tremble and be afraid of the LORD our God. ¹⁸There is no God like thee, who pardons iniquity and removes the sins of the remnant of his inheritance; thou retainest not thy anger for ever, because thou delightest in mercy. ¹⁹He will turn again and have mercy on us; he will sweep away our iniquity and cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰Thou wilt grant truth to Jacob and mercy to Abraham, as thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old. For I have become as when the summer fruit has been gathered, as when the vintage has been gleaned: there is no cluster to eat, no first-ripe fig which my soul desires. ²The godly man has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts his brother with a net. ³Their hands are upon what is evil, to do it diligently; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together. ⁴The best of them is like a brier, the most upright of them a thorn hedge. The day of their watchmen, of their punishment, has come; now their confusion is at hand. ⁵Put no trust in a neighbor, have no confidence in a friend; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom; ⁶for the son treats the father with contempt, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house. ⁷But as for me, I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

⁸Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. ⁹I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I shall behold his deliverance. ¹⁰Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, "Where is the LORD your God?" My eyes will gloat over her; now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.

¹¹A day for the building of your walls! In that day the boundary shall be far extended. ¹²In that day they will come to you, from Assyria to Egypt, and from Egypt to the River, from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain. ¹³But the earth will be desolate because of its inhabitants, for the fruit of their doings.

¹⁴Shepherd thy people with thy staff, the flock of thy inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old.

¹⁵As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt I will show them marvelous things.

¹⁶The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf; ¹⁷they shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their strongholds, they shall turn in dread to the LORD our God, and they shall fear because of thee.

¹⁸Who is a God like thee, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger for ever because he delights in steadfast love. ¹⁹He will again have compassion upon us, he will tread our iniquities under foot. Thou wilt cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰Thou wilt show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old. (RSV)

I am like one who gathers summer fruit at the gleaning of the vineyard; there is no cluster of grapes to eat, none of the early figs that I crave. ²The godly have been swept from the land; not one upright man remains. All men lie in wait to shed blood; each hunts his brother with a net. ³Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire -- they all conspire together. ⁴The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen has come, the day God visits you. Now is the time of their confusion. ⁵Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Even with her who lies in your embrace be careful of your words. ⁶For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -- a man's enemies are the members of his own household. ⁷But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. ⁸Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. ⁹Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the LORD's wrath, until he pleads my case and establishes my right. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his righteousness. ¹⁰Then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame, she who said to me, "Where is the LORD your God?" My eyes will see her downfall; even now she will be trampled underfoot like mire in the streets. ¹¹The day for building your walls will come, the day for extending your boundaries. ¹²In that day people will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, even from Egypt to the Euphrates and from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain. ¹³The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds. ¹⁴Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in days long ago. ¹⁵"As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders." ¹⁶Nations will see and be ashamed, deprived of all their power. They will lay their hands on their mouths and their ears will become deaf. ¹⁷They will lick dust like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling out of their dens; they will turn in fear to the LORD our God and will be afraid of you. ¹⁸Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. ¹⁹You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. ²⁰You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago.(NIV)

Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vinyard:
There is no cluster of grapes to eat.
My soul desires to eat the early fig.

²The godly man has perished out of the earth,
And there is no one upright among men.
They all lie in wait for blood;
Every man hunts his brother with a net.

³Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently.
The ruler and judge ask for a bribe;
And the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul.
Thus they conspire together.

⁴The best of them is like a brier.
The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge.

The day of your watchmen,
Even your visitation, has come;
Now is the time of their confusion.

⁵Don't_P trust in a neighbor.
Don't_P put confidence in a friend.
With the woman lying in your embrace,
Be careful of the words of your mouth!

⁶For the son dishonors the father,
The daughter rises up against her mother,
The daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
A man's enemies are the men of his own house.

⁷But as for me, I will look to Yahweh.
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.

⁸Don't rejoice against me, my enemy.
When I fall, I will arise.
When I sit in darkness, Yahweh will be a light to me.

⁹I will bear the indignation of Yahweh,
Because I have sinned against him,
Until he pleads my case, and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me forth to the light.
I will see his righteousness.

¹⁰Then my enemy will see it,
And shame will cover her who said to me,
Where is Yahweh your God?

Then my enemy will see me and will cover her shame.
Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.

¹¹A day to build your walls'
In that day, he will extend your boundary.

¹²In that day they will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt,
And from Egypt even to the River,
And from sea to sea,
And mountain to mountain.

¹³Yet the land will be desolate because of those who dwell therein,
For the fruit of their doings.

¹⁴Shepherd your people with your staff,
The flock of your heritage,
Who dwell by themselves in a forest,
In the midst of fertile pasture land, let them feed;
In Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

¹⁵'As in the days of your coming forth out of the land of Egypt,
I will show them marvelous things.'

¹⁶The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might.
They will lay their hand on their mouth.
Their ears will be deaf.

¹⁷They will lick the dust like a serpent.
Like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their dens.
They will come with fear to Yahweh our God,
And will be afraid because of you.

¹⁸Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity,
And passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage?

He doesn't retain his anger forever,
Because he delights in loving kindness.

¹⁹He will again have compassion on us.
He will tread our iniquities under foot;
And you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

²⁰You will give truth to Jacob,
and mercy to Abraham,

20 Micah 7:1-20 ¹Misery is mine!
Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vineyard:
There is no cluster of grapes to eat.
My soul desires to eat the early fig.

²The godly man has perished out of the earth,
and there is no one upright among men.
They all lie in wait for blood;
every man hunts his brother with a net.

³Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently.
The ruler and judge ask for a bribe;
and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul.
Thus they conspire together.

⁴The best of them is like a brier.
The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge.

The day of your watchmen,
even your visitation, has come;
now is the time of their confusion.

⁵Don't trust in a neighbor.
Don't put confidence in a friend.
With the woman lying in your embrace,
be careful of the words of your mouth!

⁶For the son dishonors the father,
the daughter rises up against her mother,
the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

⁷But as for me, I will look to the LORD.
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.

⁸Don't rejoice against me, my enemy.
When I fall, I will arise.
When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

⁹I will bear the indignation of the LORD,
because I have sinned against him,
until he pleads my case, and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me forth to the light.
I will see his righteousness.

¹⁰Then my enemy will see it,
and shame will cover her who said to me,
where is the LORD your God?

Then my enemy will see me and will cover her shame.
Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.

¹¹A day to build your walls'
In that day, he will extend your boundary.

For I have become as when they have gathered the summer fruit, as the grape gleanings of the vintage; there is no cluster to eat; my soul craves the first ripe fruit. ²The righteous man has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among men; they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother for destruction. ³Their hands are ready to do evil, and they never do good; the governor asks for gold, and the judge says, Give me a bribe; and the prince speaks the desire of his soul. ⁴They have rejected the best part of them, and have become like rags which are eaten by the moth; the day of your watchmen and your salvation is come; but now it will be their mourning. ⁵Do not trust in your friends, put no confidence in your neighbors, guard the words of your mouth from your wife. ⁶For the son curses his father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the members of his own household.

⁷Therefore, I will look to Yahvah; I will wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. ⁸Do not rejoice over me, oh my enemy, because I have fallen; I will rise again; though I sit in darkness, Yahvah will be a light to me. ⁹I will bear the affliction of Yahvah, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and avenges me; he will bring me forth to the light, and I will see his righteousness. ¹⁰Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, Where is Yahvah your God? My eyes will look her; now she will be trampled down like the mire of the streets. ¹¹It is a day to build your walls; it is a day to be lifted up. ¹²It is a day when the people will come to you from Assyria and from the fortified cities and from Tyre and even to the river and from sea to sea, as far as mount Hor. ¹³Nevertheless, the land will be desolate to its inhabitants because of the fruit of their actions.

¹⁴Feed your people with your rod, the flock of your heritage, who will live alone like sheep in the middle of Carmel; let them feed in Mathnin and Gilead, as in the days of old. ¹⁵As in the day when you came out of the land of Egypt I will again show them marvellous things. ¹⁶The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might; they will lay their hands on their mouth, their ears will be deaf. ¹⁷They will lick the dust like a serpent, they will move out of their holes like worms of the earth; they will tremble and be afraid of Yahvah our God. ¹⁸There is no God like you, who pardons iniquity and removes the sins of the remnant of his inheritance; you do not retain your anger forever, because you delight in mercy. ¹⁹He will turn again and have mercy on us; he will sweep away our iniquity and cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰You will grant truth to Jacob and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
