20 Micah 2:1-13 1Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. 3Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

4In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields. 5Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD. 6Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

7O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 8Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 9The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever. 10Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. 11If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

12I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 13The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.(KJV)

They shall not prophesy to these: reproaches shall not depart. 7Shall it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the Spirit of Jehovah straitened? are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 8But of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye strip the robe from off the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 9The women of my people ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their young children ye take away my glory for ever. 10Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your resting-place; because of uncleanness that destroyeth, even with a grievous destruction. 11If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. 12I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as a flock in the midst of their pasture; they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 13The breaker is gone up before them: they have broken forth and passed on to the gate, and are gone out thereat; and their king is passed on before them, and Jehovah at the head of them.(ASV)

20 Micah 2:1-13 1WOE to those who devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! They rise up early every morning and practice what they have devised; then they lift up their hands toward God to pray. 2They covet fields and houses, and seize them by force; they oppress a man, taking away from him his possessions and his inheritance. 3Therefore thus says the LORD God: Behold, against this people do I devise a disaster from which you shall not lift up your necks, neither shall you walk haughtily; for this is an evil time. 4In that day shall one take up a proverb against you, and lament with a wailing melody, and say, The robber has plundered us; the portion of my people he has divided with a measuring line; there is none to restore our fields with the measuring line. 5Therefore you shall have none that shall measure by the measuring line and divide by casting the lots in the congregation of the LORD.

6¶ Shed not tears, and weep not over these things, 7That the shame which is spoken against the house of Jacob may not overtake you; for the spirit of the LORD is angry at these devices; behold, my words are good to him who walked uprightly. 8My people stood up like a thief against his own peace; you strip the skin from the poor that they may lose their hope; you invite war. 9The women of my people you have driven out from their pleasant houses; from their children you have taken away the glory for ever. 10Arise and go away; for this is no place for your rest, because the pollution will bring destruction, and the destruction will be grievous. 11When a man walks in the spirit of falsehood and deception, overwhelmed with wine and drunkenness, he does so because of the anguish of this people.

12¶ I will surely gather you, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely bring you together, O remnant of Israel; I will keep them like sheep when they are in danger, like a flock in the midst of their fold, which are protected from thieves. 13The pathbreaker is come up before them; they have made a breach and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it; and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD at the head of them. 20 Micah 2:1-13 1Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil upon their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2They covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance. 3Therefore thus says the LORD: Behold, against this family I am devising evil, from which you cannot remove your necks; and you shall not walk haughtily, for it will be an evil time. 4In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you, and wail with bitter lamentation, and say, "We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! Among our captors he divides our fields." 5Therefore you will have none to cast the line by lot in the assembly of the LORD.

6"Do not preach"--thus they preach--"one should not preach of such things; disgrace will not overtake us." 7Should this be said, O house of Jacob? Is the Spirit of the LORD impatient? Are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly? 8But you rise against my people as an enemy; you strip the robe from the peaceful, from those who pass by trustingly with no thought of war. 9The women of my people you drive out from their pleasant houses; from their young children you take away my glory for ever. 10Arise and go, for this is no place to rest; because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction. 11If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, "I will preach to you of wine and strong drink," he would be the preacher for this people!

12I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob, I will gather the remnant of Israel; I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in its pasture, a noisy multitude of men. 13He who opens the breach will go up before them; they will break through and pass the gate, going out by it. Their king will pass on before them, the LORD at their head.(RSV)

20 Micah 2:1-13 1Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. 2They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his home, a fellowman of his inheritance.

3Therefore, the LORD says: "I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity. 4In that day men will ridicule you; they will taunt you with this mournful song: `We are utterly ruined; my people's possession is divided up. He takes it from me! He assigns our fields to traitors.'" 5Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to divide the land by lot. 6"Do not prophesy," their prophets say. "Do not prophesy about these things; disgrace will not overtake us." 7Should it be said, O house of Jacob: "Is the Spirit of the LORD angry? Does he do such things?" "Do not my words do good to him whose ways are upright? 8Lately my people have risen up like an enemy. You strip off the rich robe from those who pass by without a care, like men returning from battle. 9You drive the women of my people from their pleasant homes. You take away my blessing from their children forever. 10Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place, because it is defiled, it is ruined, beyond all remedy. 11If a liar and deceiver comes and says, `I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,' he would be just the prophet for this people! 12"I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture; the place will throng with people. 13One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass through before them, the LORD at their head."(NIV)

20 Micah 2:1-13 1Woe to those who devise iniquity
And work evil on their beds!

When the morning is light, they practice it,
Because it is in the power of their hand.

2They covet fields, and seize them;
And houses, and take them away:
And they oppress a man and his house,
Even a man and his heritage.

3Therefore thus says Yahweh:

'Behold, I am planning against these people a disaster,
From which youP will not remove your necks,
Neither will youP walk haughtily;
For it is an evil time.

4In that day they will take up a parable against you,
And lament with a doleful lamentation, saying,
'We are utterly ruined!
My people's possession is divided up.
Indeed he takes it from me and assigns our fields to traitors!''

5Therefore you will have no one who divides the land by lot in the assembly of Yahweh.

6'Don't youP prophesy!'
They prophesy.

'Don't prophesy about these things.
Disgrace won't overtake us.'

7Shall it be said, O house of Jacob:
'Is the Spirit of Yahweh angry?
Are these his doings?
Don't my words do good to him who walks blamelessly?'

8But lately my people have risen up as an enemy.
YouP strip the robe and clothing from those who pass by without a care, returning from battle.

9You drive the women of my people out from their pleasant houses;
From their young children youP take away my blessing forever.

10AriseP , and depart!
For this is not your resting place,
Because of uncleanness that destroys,
Even with a grievous destruction.

11If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies:
'I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;'
He would be the prophet of this people.

12I will surely assemble, Jacob, all of you;
I will surely gather the remnant of Israel;

I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah,
As a flock in the midst of their pasture;
They will swarm with people.

13He who breaks open the way goes up before them.
They break through the gate, and go out.
And their king passes on before them,
With Yahweh at their head.'(WEB)
