13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee. 2O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. 4And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them. 5The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. 6And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. 7Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. 8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man. 9The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits. 10Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself. 11Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you. 12And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.

13Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? 15He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; 16He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. 17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. 18Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers? 19Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. 21But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. 23Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. 24And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.(KJV)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to thee that destroyest, and thou wast not destroyed; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! When thou hast ceased to destroy, thou shalt be destroyed; and when thou hast made an end of dealing treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee. 2O Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3At the noise of the tumult the peoples are fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations are scattered. 4And your spoil shall be gathered as the caterpillar gathereth: as locusts leap shall men leap upon it. 5Jehovah is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6And there shall be stability in thy times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah is thy treasure. 7Behold, their valiant ones cry without; the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly. 8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: the enemy hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth not man. 9The land mourneth and languisheth; Lebanon is confounded and withereth away; Sharon is like a desert; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves. 10Now will I arise, saith Jehovah; now will I lift up myself; now will I be exalted. 11Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath is a fire that shall devour you. 12And the peoples shall be as the burnings of lime, as thorns cut down, that are burned in the fire. 13Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings? 15He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil: 16He shall dwell on high; his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks; his bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. 17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold a land that reacheth afar. 18Thy heart shall muse on the terror: Where is he that counted, where is he that weighed the tribute? where is he that counted the towers? 19Thou shalt not see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that thou canst not comprehend, of a strange tongue that thou canst not understand. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tent that shall not be removed, the stakes whereof shall never be plucked up, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. 21But there Jehovah will be with us in majesty, a place of broad rivers and streams, wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 22For Jehovah is our judge, Jehovah is our lawgiver, Jehovah is our king; he will save us. 23Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not strengthen the foot of their mast, they could not spread the sail: then was the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame took the prey. 24And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.(ASV)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1WOE to you that plunder, but you shall not plunder, and let no one deal treacherously among you; for when you seek to plunder, they will plunder you; and when you seek to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with you. 2O LORD, be gracious to us; for in thee is our trust; be thou our helper every morning, our salvation also in the time of distress. 3At the noise of thy tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. 4Henceforth your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar; as a swarm of locusts when it is gathered together. 5The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6And faith shall be the stability of your times, and your salvation in a place of refuge; wisdom and knowledge and the reverence of the LORD is his treasure. 7If he should be seen by them they shall howl violently; the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. 8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceases, and the covenant is broken; the cities are despised, and there is no regard for man. 9The earth mourns and languishes; Lebanon is ashamed and confounded; Sharon has become like a desert plain; and Bashan and Carmel are desolate. 10Now I will arise, says the LORD; now I will be exalted; now I will lift up myself. 11You shall conceive thorns, you shall bring forth stubble; your breath, as fire, shall devour you. 12And the peoples shall be as the burning of lime; as thorns that are gathered together shall they be burned in the fire.

13¶ Hear, you who are far off, what I have clone; and you who are near, acknowledge my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the heathen. Who among us shall dwell with devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises treachery and oppression, who refuses to accept a bribe, who stops his ears that he may not hear of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes that he may not see evil. 16He shall dwell on high; his place of defense shall be the precipice of rocks; his bread shall be given him; his water shall be sure. 17Your eyes shall see the king in his beauty; they shall behold the lands that are far off. 18Your heart shall learn reverence. Where is the scribe? Where is the weigher? Where is he who counted towers for a mighty people? 19You shall not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech, of a stammering tongue, so that he cannot be understood. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities; your eyes shall see Jerusalem a rich habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be shaken to and fro; whose pegs shall never be removed, neither shall any of its cords be broken. 21For there the name of the LORD is glorious to us; he will be for us a place of light, an enlightenment, and an open space made by the hand; wherein the authority of a prince shall not reign, neither shall the mighty one be able to invade it. 22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; and he is our Saviour. 23Your riggings are loosed; they could not well hold straight their mast, they could not spread the sail; until they have divided the prey, a multitude of lame shall take it. 24And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick; the people who dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. (LAM)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to you, destroyer, who yourself have not been destroyed; you treacherous one, with whom none has dealt treacherously! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed; and when you have made an end of dealing treacherously, you will be dealt with treacherously.

2O LORD, be gracious to us; we wait for thee. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble. 3At the thunderous noise peoples flee, at the lifting up of thyself nations are scattered; 4and spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers; as locusts leap, men leap upon it.

5The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness; 6and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

7Behold, the valiant ones cry without; the envoys of peace weep bitterly. 8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceases. Covenants are broken, witnesses are despised, there is no regard for man. 9The land mourns and languishes; Lebanon is confounded and withers away; Sharon is like a desert; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves.

10"Now I will arise," says the LORD, "now I will lift myself up; now I will be exalted. 11You conceive chaff, you bring forth stubble; your breath is a fire that will consume you. 12And the peoples will be as if burned to lime, like thorns cut down, that are burned in the fire."

13Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and you who are near, acknowledge my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless: "Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?" 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking upon evil, 16he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him, his water will be sure.

17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty; they will behold a land that stretches afar. 18Your mind will muse on the terror: "Where is he who counted, where is he who weighed the tribute? Where is he who counted the towers?" 19You will see no more the insolent people, the people of an obscure speech which you cannot comprehend, stammering in a tongue which you cannot understand. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, an immovable tent, whose stakes will never be plucked up, nor will any of its cords be broken. 21But there the LORD in majesty will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, where no galley with oars can go, nor stately ship can pass. 22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our ruler, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

23Your tackle hangs loose; it cannot hold the mast firm in its place, or keep the sail spread out.

Then prey and spoil in abundance will be divided; even the lame will take the prey. 24And no inhabitant will say, "I am sick"; the people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity.(RSV)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to you, O destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, O traitor, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed. 2O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. 3At the thunder of your voice, the peoples flee; when you rise up, the nations scatter. 4Your plunder, O nations, is harvested as by young locusts; like a swarm of locusts men pounce on it. 5The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness. 6He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. 7Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly. 8The highways are deserted, no travelers are on the roads. The treaty is broken, its witnesses are despised, no one is respected. 9The land mourns and wastes away, Lebanon is ashamed and withers; Sharon is like the Arabah, and Bashan and Carmel drop their leaves. 10"Now will I arise," says the LORD. "Now will I be exalted; now will I be lifted up. 11You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw; your breath is a fire that consumes you. 12The peoples will be burned as if to lime; like cut thornbushes they will be set ablaze." 13You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my power! 14The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless: "Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?" 15He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil -- 16this is the man who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail him. 17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar. 18In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: "Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?" 19You will see those arrogant people no more, those people of an obscure speech, with their strange, incomprehensible tongue. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved; its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes broken. 21There the LORD will be our Mighty One. It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams. No galley with oars will ride them, no mighty ship will sail them. 22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us. 23Your rigging hangs loose: The mast is not held secure, the sail is not spread. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided and even the lame will carry off plunder. 24No one living in Zion will say, "I am ill"; and the sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.(NIV)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to you who destroy, and you weren't destroyed; and deal treacherously, and they didn't deal treacherously with you! 13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1Woe to you who destroy, but you weren't destroyed;
and who betray, but nobody betrayed you!

When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed;
and when you have made an end of betrayal, you will be betrayed.

2LORDf , be gracious to us. We have waited for you.
Be our strength every morning,
our salvation also in the time of trouble.

3At the noise of the thunder, the peoples have fled.
When you lift yourself up, the nations are scattered.

4Your spoil will be gathered as the caterpillar gathers.
Men will leap on it as locusts leap.

5The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high.
He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

6There will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.
The fear of the LORD is your treasure.

7Behold, their valiant ones cry outside;
the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.

8The highways are desolate.
The traveling man ceases.
The covenant is broken.
He has despised the cities.
He doesn't regard man.

9The land mourns and languishes.
Lebanon is confounded and withers away.
Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel are stripped bare.

10'Now I will arise,' says the LORD;
'Now I will lift myself up.
Now I will be exalted.

11You will conceive chaff.
You will bring forth stubble.
Your breath is a fire that will devour you.

12The peoples will be like the burning of lime,
like thorns that are cut down and burned in the fire.

13Hear, you who are far off, what I have done;
and, you who are near, acknowledge my might.'

14The sinners in Zion are afraid.
Trembling has seized the godless ones.

Who among us can live with the devouring fire?
Who among us can live with everlasting burning?

15He who walks righteously,
and speaks blamelessly;
He who despises the gain of oppressions,
who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe,
who stops his ears from hearing of blood,
and shuts his eyes from looking at evil'

16he will dwell on high.
His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks.
His bread will be supplied.
His waters will be sure.

17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty.
They will see a distant land.

18Your heart will meditate on the terror.
Where is he who counted?
Where is he who weighed?
Where is he who counted the towers?

19You will no longer see the fierce people,
a people of a deep speech that you can't comprehend,
with a strange language that you can't understand.

20Look at Zion, the city of our appointed festivals.
Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation,
a tent that won't be removed.

Its stakes will never be plucked up,
nor will any of its cords be broken.

21But there the LORD will be with us in majesty,
a place of broad rivers and streams,
in which no galley with oars will go,
neither will any gallant ship pass by there.

22For the LORD is our judge.
The LORD is our lawgiver.
The LORD is our king.
He will save us.

23Your rigging is untied.
They couldn't strengthen the foot of their mast.
They couldn't spread the sail.

Then the prey of a great spoil was divided.
The lame took the prey.

24The inhabitant won't say, 'I am sick.'
The people who dwell therein will be forgiven their iniquity.(WEB/HNV)

13 Isaiah 33:1-24 1WOE to you who plunder, but you will not plunder, and let no one deal treacherously among you; for when you seek to plunder, they will plunder you; and when you seek to deal treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you. 2Oh Yahvah, be gracious to us; for in you is our trust; be our helper every morning, also our salvation in the time of distress. 3At the noise of your tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of yourself the nations were scattered. 4From now on, your spoil will be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar; as a swarm of locusts when it is gathered together. 5Yahvah is exalted, for he lives on high; he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6And faith will be the stability of your times, and your salvation in a place of refuge; wisdom and knowledge and the reverence of Yahvah is his treasure. 7If he should be seen by them they will howl violently; the ambassadors of peace will weep bitterly. 8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceases, and the contract is broken; the cities are despised, and there is no regard for man. 9The earth mourns and languishes; Lebanon is ashamed and confounded; Sharon has become like a desert plain; and Bashan and Carmel are desolate. 10Now I will arise, says Yahvah; now I will be exalted; now I will lift up myself. 11You will conceive thorns, you will bring forth stubble; your breath, as fire, will devour you. 12And the peoples will be as the burning of lime; as thorns that are gathered together they will be burned in the fire.

13Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and you who are near, acknowledge my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the heathen. Who among us will live with devouring fire? Who among us will live with everlasting burnings? 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises treachery and oppression, who refuses to accept a bribe, who stops his ears that he may not hear of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes that he may not see evil. 16He will live on high; his place of defense will be the precipice of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure. 17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty; they will see the lands that are far off. 18Your heart will learn reverence. Where is the scribe? Where is the weigher? Where is he who counted towers for a mighty people? 19You will not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech, of a stammering tongue, so that he cannot be understood. 20Look on Zion, the city of our solemnities; your eyes will see Jerusalem a rich habitation, a tabernacle that will not be shaken to and fro; whose pegs will never be removed, nor will any of its cords be broken. 21For there the name of Yahvah is glorious to us; he will be for us a place of light, an enlightenment, and an open space made by the hand; in which the authority of a prince will not reign, nor will the mighty one be able to invade it. 22For Yahvah is our judge, Yahvah is our lawgiver, Yahvah is our king; and he is our Savior. 23Your riggings are loosed; they could not well hold straight their mast, they could not spread the sail; until they have divided the prey, a multitude of lame will take it. 24And the inhabitant will not say, I am sick; the people who live in it will be forgiven their iniquity.
