13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, 2The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, 3The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. 4And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. 6When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand: 7In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people. 8For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. 10Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. 11Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

12As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. 13The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people. 14The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 15What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD GOD of hosts.

16Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: 17Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. 18In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, 19The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, 20The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, 21The rings, and nose jewels, 22The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, 23The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. 24And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. 25Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. 26And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.(KJV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water; 2the mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder; 3the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter. 4And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable. 6When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand; 7in that day shall he lift up his voice, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: ye shall not make me ruler of the people. 8For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory. 9The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. 13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1FOR, behold, the LORD of hosts does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, 2The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet and the diviner and the elder, 3The captain of fifty and the honorable man and the counsellor and the skilful carpenter and the expert counsellor. 4And I will appoint young men to be their princes, and mockers shall rule over them. 5And the people shall oppress one another, every one his neighbor; and the young men shall provoke the elders, and the base men the honorable. 6When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, and say to him, You have clothing, be our ruler, and govern this ruin; 7In that day he shall answer, and say, I will not be a leader; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing; make me not a ruler over the people. 8For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, provoking God in the majesty of his glory.

9¶ Their hypocrisy witnesses against them; and they declare their sins like Sodom, they do not hide them. Woe to their soul! for they have wrought evil to themselves. 10Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. 11Woe to the wicked! it shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given him. 12The princes shall pluck my people out, and women shall rule over them. O my people, your leaders have caused you to err, and disturbed the way of your paths. 13The LORD stands up to plead, and stands to judge his people. 14The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: for you have burned the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 15Why did you sting my people, and shame the faces of the poor? says the LORD of hosts.

16¶ Because the daughters of Zion have become haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks, and wanton eyes, making a tinkling with their feet, and thus provoking the LORD; 17Therefore the LORD will bring low the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD shall lay bare their secret parts. 18In that day the LORD will take away the beauty of their apparel; 19And their adornments and their necklaces and the braids of their hair and their chains and their bonnets and their veils, 20The paint of their faces, their earrings and their strings of beads 21And the ornaments of their legs and their bracelets and nose rings, 22The garments of varied colors and the mantles and the fine linens, the purple garments, 23The long outer garments, the purple robes, the scarlet robes, the wardrobe of all their adornments. 24And it shall come to pass, that instead of a sweet smell there shall be a stink; and instead of an ornamental girdle, a worker's apron; and instead of curled hair, baldness; and instead of purple robes, a girding of sackcloth; for their beauty shall be destroyed. 25Your mighty men shall fall by the sword, and your valiant men in the battle. 26And her gates shall lament and mourn; and her victory shall turn to defeat. 13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water; 2the mighty man and the soldier, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder, 3the captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counselor and the skilful magician and the expert in charms. 4And I will make boys their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5And the people will oppress one another, every man his fellow and every man his neighbor; the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the base fellow to the honorable.

6When a man takes hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying: "You have a mantle; you shall be our leader, and this heap of ruins shall be under your rule"; 7in that day he will speak out, saying: "I will not be a healer; in my house there is neither bread nor mantle; you shall not make me leader of the people." 8For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their speech and their deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence.

9Their partiality witnesses against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom, they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil upon themselves. 10Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. 11Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have done shall be done to him. 12My people-- children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you, and confuse the course of your paths.

13The LORD has taken his place to contend, he stands to judge his people. 14The LORD enters into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: "It is you who have devoured the vineyard, the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 15What do you mean by crushing my people, by grinding the face of the poor?" says the Lord GOD of hosts.

16The LORD said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks, glancing wantonly with their eyes, mincing along as they go, tinkling with their feet; 17the Lord will smite with a scab the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.

18In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; 19the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarfs; 20the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21the signet rings and nose rings; 22the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23the garments of gauze, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils. 24Instead of perfume there will be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame. 25Your men shall fall by the sword and your mighty men in battle. 26And her gates shall lament and mourn; ravaged, she shall sit upon the ground.(RSV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1See now, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water, 2the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet, the soothsayer and elder, 3the captain of fifty and man of rank, the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter. 4I will make boys their officials; mere children will govern them. 5People will oppress each other -- man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the base against the honorable. 6A man will seize one of his brothers at his father's home, and say, "You have a cloak, you be our leader; take charge of this heap of ruins!" 7But in that day he will cry out, "I have no remedy. I have no food or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people." 8Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence. 9The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves. 10Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. 11Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done. 12Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path. 13The LORD takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people. 14The LORD enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. 15What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty. 16The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. 17Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald."

18In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces, 19the earrings and bracelets and veils, 20the headdresses and ankle chains and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, 21the signet rings and nose rings, 22the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses 23and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls. 24Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding. 25Your men will fall by the sword, your warriors in battle. 26The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.(NIV)

24It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness;
instead of a belt, a rope;
instead of well set hair, baldness;
instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth;
and branding instead of beauty.

25Your men shall fall by the sword,
and your mighty in the war.

26Her gates shall lament and mourn;
and she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.(WEB/HNV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 1FOR look, Yahvah of hosts takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, 2The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet and the diviner and the elder, 3The captain of 50 and the honorable man and the counsellor and the skilful carpenter and the expert counsellor. 4And I will appoint young men to be their princes, and mockers will rule over them. 5And the people will oppress one another, each one his neighbor; and the young men will provoke the elders, and the base men the honorable. 6When a man will take hold of his brother in the house of his father, and say to him, You have clothing, be our ruler, and govern this ruin; 7In that day he will answer, and say, I will not be a leader; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing; do not make me a ruler over the people. 8For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their tongue and their actions are against Yahvah, provoking God in the majesty of his glory.

9Their hypocrisy witnesses against them; and they declare their sins like Sodom, they do not hide them. Woe to their soul, For they have worked evil to themselves. 10Say to the righteous that it will be well with them; for they will eat the fruit of their actions. 11Woe to the wicked. It will be ill with him, for the reward of his hands will be given him.

12The princes will pluck my people out, and women will rule over them. Oh my people, your leaders have caused you to err, and disturbed the way of your paths. 13Yahvah stands up to plead, and stands to judge his people. 14Yahvah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and its princes; for you have burned the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 15Why did you sting my people, and shame the faces of the poor? Says Yahvah of hosts.

16Because the daughters of Zion have become haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks, and wanton eyes, making a tinkling with their feet, and thus provoking Yahvah; 17Therefore, the Lord will bring low the heads of the daughters of Zion, and Yahvah will lay bare their secret parts. 18In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their apparel; 19And their adornments and their necklaces and the braids of their hair and their chains and their hats and their veils, 20The paint of their faces, their earrings and their strings of beads 21And the ornaments of their legs and their bracelets and nose rings, 22The garments of varied colors and the mantles and the fine linens, the purple garments, 23The long outer garments, the purple robes, the scarlet robes, the wardrobe of all their adornments. 24And it will come to pass, that instead of a sweet smell there will be a stink; and instead of an ornamental belt, a worker's apron; and instead of curled hair, baldness; and instead of purple robes, a girding of sackcloth; for their beauty will be destroyed. 25Your mighty men will fall by the sword, and your valiant men in the battle. 26And her gates will lament and mourn; and her victory will turn to defeat.
