13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹כִּי֩ הִנֵּ֨ה הָאָד֜וֹן יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת מֵסִ֤יר מִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ וּמִ֣יהוּדָ֔ה מַשְׁעֵ֖ן וּמַשְׁעֵנָ֑ה כֹּ֚ל מִשְׁעַן־ לֶ֔חֶם וְכֹ֖ל מִשְׁעַן־ מָֽיִם׃ ²גִּבּ֖וֹר וְאִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֑ה שׁוֹפֵ֥ט וְנָבִ֖יא וְקֹסֵ֥ם וְזָקֵֽן׃ ³שַׂר־ חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים וּנְשׂ֣וּא פָנִ֑ים וְיוֹעֵ֛ץ וַחֲכַ֥ם חֲרָשִׁ֖ים וּנְב֥וֹן לָֽחַשׁ׃ ⁴וְנָתַתִּ֥י נְעָרִ֖ים שָׂרֵיהֶ֑ם וְתַעֲלוּלִ֖ים יִמְשְׁלוּ־ בָֽם׃ ⁵וְנִגַּ֣שׂ הָעָ֔ם אִ֥ישׁ בְּאִ֖ישׁ וְאִ֣ישׁ בְּרֵעֵ֑הוּ יִרְהֲב֗וּ הַנַּ֙עַר֙ בַּזָּקֵ֔ן וְהַנִּקְלֶ֖ה בַּנִּכְבָּֽד׃ ⁶כִּֽי־ יִתְפֹּ֨שׂ אִ֤ישׁ בְּאָחִיו֙ בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔יו שִׂמְלָ֣ה לְכָ֔ה קָצִ֖ין תִּֽהְיֶה־ לָּ֑נוּ וְהַמַּכְשֵׁלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽךָ׃ ⁷יִשָּׂא֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַה֤וּא׀ לֵאמֹר֙ לֹא־ אֶהְיֶ֣ה חֹבֵ֔שׁ וּבְבֵיתִ֕י אֵ֥ין לֶ֖חֶם וְאֵ֣ין שִׂמְלָ֑ה לֹ֥א תְשִׂימֻ֖נִי קְצִ֥ין עָֽם׃ ⁸כִּ֤י כָשְׁלָה֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וִיהוּדָ֖ה נָפָ֑ל כִּֽי־ לְשׁוֹנָ֤ם וּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶם֙ אֶל־ יְהוָ֔ה לַמְר֖וֹת עֵנֵ֥י כְבוֹדֽוֹ׃ ⁹הַכָּרַ֤ת פְּנֵיהֶם֙ עָ֣נְתָה בָּ֔ם וְחַטָּאתָ֛ם כִּסְדֹ֥ם הִגִּ֖ידוּ לֹ֣א כִחֵ֑דוּ א֣וֹי לְנַפְשָׁ֔ם כִּֽי־ גָמְל֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם רָעָֽה׃ ¹⁰אִמְר֥וּ צַדִּ֖יק כִּי־ ט֑וֹב כִּֽי־ פְרִ֥י מַעַלְלֵיהֶ֖ם יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃ ¹¹א֖וֹי לְרָשָׁ֣ע רָ֑ע כִּֽי־ גְמ֥וּל יָדָ֖יו יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃ ¹²עַמִּי֙ נֹגְשָׂ֣יו מְעוֹלֵ֔ל וְנָשִׁ֖ים מָ֣שְׁלוּ ב֑וֹ עַמִּי֙ מְאַשְּׁרֶ֣יךָ מַתְעִ֔ים וְדֶ֥רֶךְ אֹֽרְחֹתֶ֖יךָ בִּלֵּֽעוּ׃

¹³נִצָּ֥ב לָרִ֖יב יְהוָ֑ה וְעֹמֵ֖ד לָדִ֥ין עַמִּֽים׃ ¹⁴יְהוָה֙ בְּמִשְׁפָּ֣ט יָב֔וֹא עִם־ זִקְנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹ וְשָׂרָ֑יו וְאַתֶּם֙ בִּֽעַרְתֶּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔רֶם גְּזֵלַ֥ת הֶֽעָנִ֖י בְּבָתֵּיכֶֽם׃ ¹⁵תְּדַכְּא֣וּ עַמִּ֔י וּפְנֵ֥י עֲנִיִּ֖ים תִּטְחָ֑נוּ נְאֻם־ אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

¹⁶וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה יַ֚עַן כִּ֤י גָֽבְהוּ֙ בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֔וֹן וַתֵּלַ֙כְנָה֙ גָּר֔וֹן וּֽמְשַׂקְּר֖וֹת עֵינָ֑יִם הָל֤וֹךְ וְטָפֹף֙ תֵּלַ֔כְנָה וּבְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם תְּעַכַּֽסְנָה׃ ¹⁷וְשִׂפַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָ֔י קָדְקֹ֖ד בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֑וֹן וַיהוָ֖ה פָּתְהֵ֥ן יְעָרֶֽה׃

¹⁸בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יָסִ֣יר אֲדֹנָ֗י אֵ֣ת תִּפְאֶ֧רֶת הָעֲכָסִ֛ים וְהַשְּׁבִיסִ֖ים וְהַשַּׂהֲרֹנִֽים׃ ¹⁹הַנְּטִיפ֥וֹת וְהַשֵּׁיר֖וֹת וְהָֽרְעָלֽוֹת׃ ²⁰הַפְּאֵרִ֤ים וְהַצְּעָדוֹת֙ וְהַקִּשֻּׁרִ֔ים וּבָתֵּ֥י הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ וְהַלְּחָשִֽׁים׃ ²¹הַטַּבָּע֖וֹת וְנִזְמֵ֥י הָאָֽף׃ ²²הַמַּֽחֲלָצוֹת֙ וְהַמַּ֣עֲטָפ֔וֹת וְהַמִּטְפָּח֖וֹת וְהָחֲרִיטִֽים׃ ²³וְהַגִּלְיֹנִים֙ וְהַסְּדִינִ֔ים וְהַצְּנִיפ֖וֹת וְהָרְדִידִֽים׃ ²⁴וְהָיָה֩ תַ֨חַת בֹּ֜שֶׂם מַ֣ק יִֽהְיֶ֗ה וְתַ֨חַת חֲגוֹרָ֤ה נִקְפָּה֙ וְתַ֨חַת מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה מִקְשֶׁה֙ קָרְחָ֔ה וְתַ֥חַת פְּתִיגִ֖יל מַחֲגֹ֣רֶת שָׂ֑ק כִּי־ תַ֖חַת יֹֽפִי׃ ²⁵מְתַ֖יִךְ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֑לוּ וּגְבוּרָתֵ֖ךְ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ ²⁶וְאָנ֥וּ וְאָבְל֖וּ פְּתָחֶ֑יהָ וְנִקָּ֖תָה לָאָ֥רֶץ תֵּשֵֽׁב׃ (WLC)

13 Isaiah 3:1

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, ²The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, ³The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. ⁴And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. ⁵And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. ⁶When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand: ⁷In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people. ⁸For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

⁹The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. ¹⁰Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. ¹¹Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹²As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. ¹³The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people. ¹⁴The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD GOD of hosts.

¹⁶Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: ¹⁷Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. ¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, ¹⁹The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, ²⁰The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, ²¹The rings, and nose jewels, ²²The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, ²³The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. ²⁴And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. ²⁵Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. ²⁶And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.(KJV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water; ²the mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder; ³the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter. ⁴And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. ⁵And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable. ⁶When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand; ⁷in that day shall he lift up his voice, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: ye shall not make me ruler of the people. ⁸For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory. ⁹The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. ¹³Jehovah standeth up to contend, and standeth to judge the peoples. ¹⁴Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses: ¹⁵what mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the face of the poor? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts. ¹⁶Moreover Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet; ¹⁷therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts. ¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents; ¹⁹the pendants, and the bracelets, and the mufflers; ²⁰the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets; ²¹the rings, and the nose-jewels; ²²the festival robes, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the satchels; ²³the hand-mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the veils. ²⁴And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty. ²⁵Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. ²⁶And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit upon the ground.(ASV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹FOR, behold, the LORD of hosts does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, ²The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet and the diviner and the elder, ³The captain of fifty and the honorable man and the counsellor and the skilful carpenter and the expert counsellor. ⁴And I will appoint young men to be their princes, and mockers shall rule over them. ⁵And the people shall oppress one another, every one his neighbor; and the young men shall provoke the elders, and the base men the honorable. ⁶When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, and say to him, You have clothing, be our ruler, and govern this ruin; ⁷In that day he shall answer, and say, I will not be a leader; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing; make me not a ruler over the people. ⁸For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, provoking God in the majesty of his glory.

⁹¶ Their hypocrisy witnesses against them; and they declare their sins like Sodom, they do not hide them. Woe to their soul! for they have wrought evil to themselves. ¹⁰Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. ¹¹Woe to the wicked! it shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given him. ¹²The princes shall pluck my people out, and women shall rule over them. O my people, your leaders have caused you to err, and disturbed the way of your paths. ¹³The LORD stands up to plead, and stands to judge his people. ¹⁴The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: for you have burned the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵Why did you sting my people, and shame the faces of the poor? says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁶¶ Because the daughters of Zion have become haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks, and wanton eyes, making a tinkling with their feet, and thus provoking the LORD; ¹⁷Therefore the LORD will bring low the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD shall lay bare their secret parts. ¹⁸In that day the LORD will take away the beauty of their apparel; ¹⁹And their adornments and their necklaces and the braids of their hair and their chains and their bonnets and their veils, ²⁰The paint of their faces, their earrings and their strings of beads ²¹And the ornaments of their legs and their bracelets and nose rings, ²²The garments of varied colors and the mantles and the fine linens, the purple garments, ²³The long outer garments, the purple robes, the scarlet robes, the wardrobe of all their adornments. ²⁴And it shall come to pass, that instead of a sweet smell there shall be a stink; and instead of an ornamental girdle, a worker's apron; and instead of curled hair, baldness; and instead of purple robes, a girding of sackcloth; for their beauty shall be destroyed. ²⁵Your mighty men shall fall by the sword, and your valiant men in the battle. ²⁶And her gates shall lament and mourn; and her victory shall turn to defeat. 13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water; ²the mighty man and the soldier, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder, ³the captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counselor and the skilful magician and the expert in charms. ⁴And I will make boys their princes, and babes shall rule over them. ⁵And the people will oppress one another, every man his fellow and every man his neighbor; the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the base fellow to the honorable.

⁶When a man takes hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying: "You have a mantle; you shall be our leader, and this heap of ruins shall be under your rule"; ⁷in that day he will speak out, saying: "I will not be a healer; in my house there is neither bread nor mantle; you shall not make me leader of the people." ⁸For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their speech and their deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence.

⁹Their partiality witnesses against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom, they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil upon themselves. ¹⁰Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have done shall be done to him. ¹²My people-- children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you, and confuse the course of your paths.

¹³The LORD has taken his place to contend, he stands to judge his people. ¹⁴The LORD enters into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: "It is you who have devoured the vineyard, the spoil of the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵What do you mean by crushing my people, by grinding the face of the poor?" says the Lord GOD of hosts.

¹⁶The LORD said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks, glancing wantonly with their eyes, mincing along as they go, tinkling with their feet; ¹⁷the Lord will smite with a scab the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.

¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; ¹⁹the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarfs; ²⁰the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; ²¹the signet rings and nose rings; ²²the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; ²³the garments of gauze, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils. ²⁴Instead of perfume there will be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame. ²⁵Your men shall fall by the sword and your mighty men in battle. ²⁶And her gates shall lament and mourn; ravaged, she shall sit upon the ground.(RSV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹See now, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water, ²the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet, the soothsayer and elder, ³the captain of fifty and man of rank, the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter. ⁴I will make boys their officials; mere children will govern them. ⁵People will oppress each other -- man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the base against the honorable. ⁶A man will seize one of his brothers at his father's home, and say, "You have a cloak, you be our leader; take charge of this heap of ruins!" ⁷But in that day he will cry out, "I have no remedy. I have no food or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people." ⁸Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence. ⁹The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves. ¹⁰Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done. ¹²Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path. ¹³The LORD takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people. ¹⁴The LORD enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty. ¹⁶The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. ¹⁷Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald."

¹⁸In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces, ¹⁹the earrings and bracelets and veils, ²⁰the headdresses and ankle chains and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, ²¹the signet rings and nose rings, ²²the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses ²³and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls. ²⁴Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding. ²⁵Your men will fall by the sword, your warriors in battle. ²⁶The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.(NIV)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹For, behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support,
The whole supply of bread,
And the whole supply of water;
²The mighty man,
The man of war,
The judge,
The prophet,
The diviner,
The elder,
³The captain of fifty,
The honorable man,
The counselor,
The skilled craftsman,
And the clever enchanter.

⁴I will give boys to be their princes,
And children shall rule over them.

⁵The people will be oppressed,
Everyone by another,
And everyone by his neighbor.

The child will behave himself proudly against the old man,
And the base against the honorable.

⁶Indeed a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying,
'You have clothing, you be our ruler,
And let this ruin be under your hand.'

⁷In that day he will cry out, saying, I will not be a healer;
For in my house is neither bread nor clothing.
You_P shall not make me ruler of the people.

⁸For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen;
Because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh,

To provoke the eyes of his glory.

⁹The look of their faces testify against them.
They parade their sin like Sodom.
They don't hide it.
Woe to their soul!
For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

¹⁰Tell_P the righteous 'Good!'
For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

¹¹Woe to the wicked!
Disaster is upon them;
For the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.

¹²As for my people, children are their oppressors,
And women rule over them.
My people, those who lead you cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths.

¹³Yahweh stands up to contend,
And stands to judge the peoples.

¹⁴Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people,
And their leaders:
'It is you_P who have eaten up the vineyard.
The spoil of the poor is in your houses.
¹⁵What do you mean_P that you_P crush my people,
And grind the face of the poor?' says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

¹⁶Moreover Yahweh said, 'Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,
And walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes,
Walking to trip as they go,
Jingling ornaments on their feet;

¹⁷Therefore the Lord brings sores on the crown of the head of the women of Zion,
And Yahweh will make their scalps bald.'

¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands, the crescent necklaces, ¹⁹the earrings, the bracelets, the veils, ²⁰the headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume bottles, the charms, ²¹the signet rings, the nose rings, ²²the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the purses, ²³the hand-mirrors, the fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.

²⁴It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness;
Instead of a belt, a rope;
Instead of well set hair, baldness;
Instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth;
And branding instead of beauty.

²⁵Your men shall fall by the sword,
And your mighty in the war.

²⁶Her gates shall lament and mourn;
And she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.(WEB)

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support,
the whole supply of bread,
and the whole supply of water;
²the mighty man,
the man of war,
the judge,
the prophet,
the diviner,
the elder,
³the captain of fifty,
the honorable man,
the counselor,
the skilled craftsman,
and the clever enchanter.

⁴I will give boys to be their princes,
and children shall rule over them.

13 Isaiah 3:1-26 ¹FOR look, Yahvah of hosts takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, ²The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet and the diviner and the elder, ³The captain of 50 and the honorable man and the counsellor and the skilful carpenter and the expert counsellor. ⁴And I will appoint young men to be their princes, and mockers will rule over them. ⁵And the people will oppress one another, each one his neighbor; and the young men will provoke the elders, and the base men the honorable. ⁶When a man will take hold of his brother in the house of his father, and say to him, You have clothing, be our ruler, and govern this ruin; ⁷In that day he will answer, and say, I will not be a leader; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing; do not make me a ruler over the people. ⁸For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their tongue and their actions are against Yahvah, provoking God in the majesty of his glory.

⁹Their hypocrisy witnesses against them; and they declare their sins like Sodom, they do not hide them. Woe to their soul, For they have worked evil to themselves. ¹⁰Say to the righteous that it will be well with them; for they will eat the fruit of their actions. ¹¹Woe to the wicked. It will be ill with him, for the reward of his hands will be given him.

¹²The princes will pluck my people out, and women will rule over them. Oh my people, your leaders have caused you to err, and disturbed the way of your paths. ¹³Yahvah stands up to plead, and stands to judge his people. ¹⁴Yahvah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and its princes; for you have burned the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵Why did you sting my people, and shame the faces of the poor? Says Yahvah of hosts.

¹⁶Because the daughters of Zion have become haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks, and wanton eyes, making a tinkling with their feet, and thus provoking Yahvah; ¹⁷Therefore, the Lord will bring low the heads of the daughters of Zion, and Yahvah will lay bare their secret parts. ¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their apparel; ¹⁹And their adornments and their necklaces and the braids of their hair and their chains and their hats and their veils, ²⁰The paint of their faces, their earrings and their strings of beads ²¹And the ornaments of their legs and their bracelets and nose rings, ²²The garments of varied colors and the mantles and the fine linens, the purple garments, ²³The long outer garments, the purple robes, the scarlet robes, the wardrobe of all their adornments. ²⁴And it will come to pass, that instead of a sweet smell there will be a stink; and instead of an ornamental belt, a worker's apron; and instead of curled hair, baldness; and instead of purple robes, a girding of sackcloth; for their beauty will be destroyed. ²⁵Your mighty men will fall by the sword, and your valiant men in the battle. ²⁶And her gates will lament and mourn; and her victory will turn to defeat.
