2If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. 3If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 4If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double. 5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another mans field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. 6If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 7If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the mans house; if the thief be found, let him pay double. 8If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbours goods. 9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour. 10If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it: 11Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbours goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good. 12And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. 13If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn. 14And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good. 15But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire. 16And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 18Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. 19Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. 20He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. 21Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. 23If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; 24And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury. 26If thou at all take thy neighbours raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down: 27For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious. 28Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people. 29Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. 30Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me. 31And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.(KJV) 2 Exodus 22:1-31

5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall let his beast loose, and it feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. 6If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 7If a man shall deliver unto his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, he shall pay double. 8If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall come near unto God, to see whether he have not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods. 9For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, whereof one saith, This is it, the cause of both parties shall come before God; he whom God shall condemn shall pay double unto his neighbor. 10If a man deliver unto his neighbor an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it: 11the oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, whether he hath not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods; and the owner thereof shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 12But if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. 13If it be torn in pieces, let him bring it for witness: he shall not make good that which was torn. 14And if a man borrow aught of his neighbor, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution. 15If the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be a hired thing, it came for its hire. 16And if a man entice a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 18Thou shalt not suffer a sorceress to live. 19Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. 20He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto Jehovah only, shall be utterly destroyed. 21And a sojourner shalt thou not wrong, neither shalt thou oppress him: for ye were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 22Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. 23If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; 24and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25If thou lend money to any of my people with thee that is poor, thou shalt not be to him as a creditor; neither shall ye lay upon him interest. 26If thou at all take thy neighbor's garment to pledge, thou shalt restore it unto him before the sun goeth down: 27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? 7¶ If a man shall deliver to his neighbor money or stuff to keep and it is stolen out of the man's house, if the thief is found, let him pay double. 8If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges to see whether he had a hand in the theft of his neighbor's goods. 9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for an ox for an ass for a lamb for clothing or for any manner of lost thing which another man claims to be his, the case of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges shall convict, he shall make two-fold restitution to his neighbor. 10If a man delivers to his neighbor an ass or an ox or a lamb or any kind of animal to keep; and it dies or is hurt or taken away in plunder and no man saw it; 11Then there shall be an oath of the LORD between them both, that he had no hand in the theft of his neighbor's property; and the owner of it shall accept the oaths and he shall not make restitution. 12But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner thereof. 13If it is torn in pieces, then let him bring it as evidence, and he shall not make good that which was torn. 14And if a man borrow of his neighbor an animal, and it dies or it is injured, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution. 15But if the owner thereof is with it, he shall not make restitution; and if it was hired, it came for its hire. 16¶ And if a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely marry her. 17If her father refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of a virgin. 18You shall not suffer a witch to live. 19Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death. 20He who sacrifices to idols shall be utterly destroyed; but to the LORD alone shall he sacrifice. 21You shall neither harm a stranger nor oppress him; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22You shall not harm any widow or orphan. 23If you harm them, and they pray before me, I will surely hear their prayer; 24And my wrath shall kindle, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless. 25¶ If you lend money to any of my people who are the poor among you, you shall not be to him as an usurer, neither shall you take any usury from him. 26If you at all take your neighbor's clothes as a pledge, you must give them back to him by sunset; 27For they are his only covering, it is his raiment for his body; with what shall he sleep? And if he prays before me, I will hear him; for I am compassionate. 28You shall not revile the judge nor curse the ruler of your people. 29You shall not delay to offer the first fruits of the harvest of your threshing floor, and of your wine press; the first-born of your sons you shall give to me. 30Likewise you shall do with your oxen and with your sheep: seven days it shall be with its dam; on the eighth day you shall give it to me. 31And you shall be holy men to me; neither shall you eat any flesh that has been torn by beasts in the field; you shall throw it to the dogs. (LAM) 2 Exodus 22:1-31
3"When fire breaks out and catches in thorns so that the stacked grain or the standing grain or the field is consumed, he that kindled the fire shall make full restitution. 4"If a man delivers to his neighbor money or goods to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house, then, if the thief is found, he shall pay double. 5If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall come near to God, to show whether or not he has put his hand to his neighbor's goods. 6"For every breach of trust, whether it is for ox, for ass, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, of which one says, `This is it,' the case of both parties shall come before God; he whom God shall condemn shall pay double to his neighbor. 7"If a man delivers to his neighbor an ass or an ox or a sheep or any beast to keep, and it dies or is hurt or is driven away, without any one seeing it, 8an oath by the LORD shall be between them both to see whether he has not put his hand to his neighbor's property; and the owner shall accept the oath, and he shall not make restitution. 9But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner. 10If it is torn by beasts, let him bring it as evidence; he shall not make restitution for what has been torn. 11"If a man borrows anything of his neighbor, and it is hurt or dies, the owner not being with it, he shall make full restitution. 12If the owner was with it, he shall not make restitution; if it was hired, it came for its hire. 13"If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall give the marriage present for her, and make her his wife. 14If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equivalent to the marriage present for virgins. 15"You shall not permit a sorceress to live. 16"Whoever lies with a beast shall be put to death. 17"Whoever sacrifices to any god, save to the LORD only, shall be utterly destroyed. 18"You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 19You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. 20If you do afflict them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry; 21and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless. 22"If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor, and you shall not exact interest from him. 23If ever you take your neighbor's garment in pledge, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down; 24for that is his only covering, it is his mantle for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate. 25"You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people. 26"You shall not delay to offer from the fulness of your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. "The first-born of your sons you shall give to me. 27You shall do likewise with your oxen and with your sheep: seven days it shall be with its dam; on the eighth day you shall give it to me. 28"You shall be men consecrated to me; therefore you shall not eat any flesh that is torn by beasts in the field; you shall cast it to the dogs. 29 30 31 (RSV) 2 Exodus 22:1-31
2"If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; 3but if it happens after sunrise, he is guilty of bloodshed. "A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft. 4"If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession -- whether ox or donkey or sheep -- he must pay back double. 5"If a man grazes his livestock in a field or vineyard and lets them stray and they graze in another man's field, he must make restitution from the best of his own field or vineyard. 6"If a fire breaks out and spreads into thornbushes so that it burns shocks of grain or standing grain or the whole field, the one who started the fire must make restitution. 7"If a man gives his neighbor silver or goods for safekeeping and they are stolen from the neighbor's house, the thief, if he is caught, must pay back double. 8But if the thief is not found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges to determine whether he has laid his hands on the other man's property. 9In all cases of illegal possession of an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any other lost property about which somebody says, `This is mine,' both parties are to bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges declare guilty must pay back double to his neighbor. 10"If a man gives a donkey, an ox, a sheep or any other animal to his neighbor for safekeeping and it dies or is injured or is taken away while no one is looking, 11the issue between them will be settled by the taking of an oath before the LORD that the neighbor did not lay hands on the other person's property. The owner is to accept this, and no restitution is required. 12But if the animal was stolen from the neighbor, he must make restitution to the owner. 13If it was torn to pieces by a wild animal, he shall bring in the remains as evidence and he will not be required to pay for the torn animal. 14"If a man borrows an animal from his neighbor and it is injured or dies while the owner is not present, he must make restitution. 15But if the owner is with the animal, the borrower will not have to pay. If the animal was hired, the money paid for the hire covers the loss. 16"If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife. 17If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins. 18"Do not allow a sorceress to live. 19"Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal must be put to death. 20"Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed. 21"Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt. 22"Do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan. 23If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. 24My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless. 25"If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not be like a moneylender; charge him no interest. 26If you take your neighbor's cloak as a pledge, return it to him by sunset, 27because his cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? When he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate. 28"Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people. 29"Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. "You must give me the firstborn of your sons. 30Do the same with your cattle and your sheep. Let them stay with their mothers for seven days, but give them to me on the eighth day. 31"You are to be my holy people. So do not eat the meat of an animal torn by wild beasts; throw it to the dogs.(NIV) 2 Exodus 22:1-31
5'If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and lets his animal loose, and it grazes in another man's field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard. 6'If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 7'If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house; if the thief is found, he shall pay double. 8If the thief isn't found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out if he hasn't put his hand to his neighbor's goods. 9For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, about which one says, 'This is mine,' the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor. 10'If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it; 11the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, whether he hasn't put his hand to his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 12But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner of it. 13If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn. 14'If a man borrows anything of his neighbor's, and it is injured, or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make restitution. 15If the owner of it is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is a leased thing, it came for its lease. 16'If a man entices a virgin who isn't pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 18'You shall not allow a sorceress to live. 19'Whoever has sex with an animal shall surely be put to death. 20'He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed. 21'You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for youP were aliens in the land of Egypt. 22'YouP shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child. 23If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; 24and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25'If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall youP charge him interest. 26If you take your neighbor's garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down, 27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious. 28'You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people. 29'You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. 'You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me. 30You shall do likewise with your oxen and with your sheep. Seven days it shall be with its mother, then on the eighth day you shall give it me. 31'YouP shall be holy men to me, therefore youP shall not eat any flesh that is torn by animals in the field. YouP shall cast it to the dogs.(WEB) 2 Exodus 22:1-31
10'If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it; 11the oath of the LORD shall be between them both, whether he hasn't put his hand to his neighbor's goods; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 12But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner. 13If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. 7If a man will deliver to his neighbor money or stuff to keep and it is stolen out of the man's house, if the thief is found, let him pay double. 8If the thief is not found, then the master of the house will be brought to the judges to see whether he had a hand in the theft of his neighbor's goods. 9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for an ox for a donkey for a lamb for clothing or for any manner of lost thing which another man claims to be his, the case of both parties will come before the judges; and whomever the judges will convict, he will make 2-fold restitution to his neighbor. 10If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey or an ox or a lamb or any kind of animal to keep; and it dies or is hurt or taken away in plunder and no man saw it; 11Then there will be an oath of Yahvah between them both, that he had no hand in the theft of his neighbor's property; and the owner of it will accept the oaths and he will not make restitution. 12But if it is stolen from him, he will make restitution to its owner. 13If it is torn in pieces, then let him bring it as evidence, and he will not make good that which was torn. 14And if a man borrow from his neighbor an animal, and it dies or it is injured, the owner of it not being with it, he will surely make restitution. 15But if the owner of it is with it, he will not make restitution; and if it was hired, it came for its hire. 16And if a man entices a virgin who is not engaged to be married, and lies with her, he will surely marry her. 17If her father refuses to give her to him, he will pay money according to the dowry of a virgin. 18You will not permit a witch to live. 19Whoever lies with an animal will surely be put to death. 20He who sacrifices to idols will be utterly destroyed; but to Yahvah alone he will sacrifice. 21You will not harm a stranger nor oppress him; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22You will not harm any widow or orphan. 23If you harm them, and they pray before me, I will surely hear their prayer; 24And my wrath will kindle, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives will become widows and your children fatherless. 25If you lend money to any of my people who are the poor among you, you will not be to him as an usurer, nor will you take any usury from him. 26If you at all take your neighbor's clothes as a pledge, you must give them back to him by sunset; 27For they are his only covering, it is his raiment for his body; with what will he sleep? And if he prays before me, I will hear him; for I am compassionate. 28You will not revile the judge nor curse the ruler of your people. 29You will not delay to offer the firstfruits of the harvest of your threshing floor, and of your wine press; the firstborn of your sons you will give to me. 30Likewise you will do with your oxen and with your sheep: 7 days it will be with its dam; on the 8th day you will give it to me. 31And you will be holy men to me; you will not eat any flesh that has been torn by animals in the field; you will throw it to the dogs.
