   1There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
7And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
8And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.
 9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
16This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
17Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simons house, and stood before the gate,
18And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
 19While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
21Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
23Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
25And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
30And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
33Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
 34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
 44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.(KJV)

15And the voice spake unto him again time 2, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
16This was done 3 times: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

18And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

5And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:
6he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side.
7And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
8and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.
9Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:

11and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:
12wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.
13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.
14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.
15And a voice came unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.
16And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.
17Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
18and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.
19And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.
21And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned of God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.
23So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.
25And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together:
28and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and yet unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:
29wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me.
30And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel,
31and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.
33Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord.
34And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.
36The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.) --

1THERE was in Caesarea a man called Cornelius, a centurion of the regiment which is called the Italian,
2A man righteous and God-fearing, as were all his household; who gave alms to the people abundantly, and always sought after God.
3Very openly in a vision about three o'clock in the afternoon he saw an angel of God who came in to him, and said to him, Cornelius.
4And he looked at the angel and was afraid, and he said, What is it, my Lord? And the angel said to him, Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.
5And now send men to the city of Joppa and bring here Simon who is called Peter:
6Behold he is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the seaside.
7And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household and a soldier who believed in God and was obedient to him,
8And he related to them everything that he had seen, and sent them to Joppa.
9¶ The next day, while they were on their journey, drawing near to the city, Simon Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about noontime.
10And he became hungry, and wanted to eat; but while they were preparing food for him, he fell into a trance.
11And he saw the heaven open and something fastened at the four corners, resembling a large linen cloth, was let down from heaven to the earth;
12And there were in it all kinds of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the air.
13And there came a voice to him, saying, Simon Peter, rise; kill and eat.
14But Simon Peter said, Far be it, my Lord; for I have never eaten anything which was unclean and defiled.
15And again the voice came to him a second time, What God has cleansed, you should not call unclean.
16This happened the third time; then the cloth was lifted up to the heaven.
17Now while Simon Peter was bewildered, wondering in himself what the vision he had seen should mean, the men who were sent by Cornelius arrived, and enquired for the house in which Simon Peter had been staying, and they came and stood at the door of the courtyard.
18And from there they called and asked if Simon who is called Peter stayed there.
19¶ While Simon Peter meditated about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek you.
20Arise, go down and go with them, without doubt in your mind; for I have sent them.
21Then Simon Peter went down to the men and said, I am the man you seek. What is the purpose of your mission?
22They said to him, A man called Cornelius, a righteous and God-fearing centurion of whom all the Jewish people speak well, was told in a vision by a holy angel to send and bring you to his house and to hear words from you.
23So Simon Peter brought them into the place where he was staying and welcomed them. The next day he arose and went with them, and a few men from amongst the brethren of Joppa accompanied him.
24And the next day they entered Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, and all his relatives and also his dear friends were assembled with him.
25And just as Simon Peter was entering, Cornelius met him and threw himself at his feet and worshipped him.
26But Simon Peter raised him, saying, Stand up; I am but a man also.
27And after he had talked with him, he went in and found a great many people had come there.
28So he said to them, You know well that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with a stranger who is not of his tribe; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29This is why I came at once when you sent for me; but now let me ask you, for what reason have you sent for me?
30Then Cornelius said to him, Four days I have been fasting; and at three o'clock in the afternoon while I was praying in my house, a man dressed in white garments stood before me,
31And said to me, Cornelius your prayer has been heard, and your alms are a memorial before God.
32But send to the city of Joppa and bring Simon, who is called Peter; behold he is staying in the house of Simon the tanner, by the seaside; and he will come and talk with you.
33At that very time I sent for you, and you have done well to come. Behold we are all here present before you, and we wish to hear everything commanded you from God.
34¶ Then Simon Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;
35But among all people, he who fears him and works righteousness is accepted with him.
36For God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace and tranquility by Jesus Christ; he is the Lord of all.
37And you also are familiar with the news which was published throughout Judea, which sprang from Galilee, after the baptism preached by John,
38Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, and who, because God was with him, went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.
39And we are witnesses of all things which he did throughout the land of Judea and in Jerusalem. This very one the Jews nailed on a cross and killed him;
40Him God raised on the third day and made him seen openly;
41Not to all the people, but to us who have been chosen by God to be his witnesses, for we did eat and drink with him after his resurrection from the dead.
42And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that it is he who was ordained by God to be the judge of the living and of the dead.
43Of him all the prophets testified that whosoever believes in his name shall receive remission of sins.
44¶ While Simon Peter spoke these words, the Holy Spirit descended on all who heard the word.
45And the Jewish converts who had come with him were seized with amazement because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles also;
46For they heard them speak with different tongues, and magnify God.
47Then Simon Peter said to them, Can any man forbid water, that these people who have received the Holy Spirit, just as we have, should not be baptized?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And they urged him to remain with them a few days.

2a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms liberally to the people, and prayed constantly to God.
3About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius."
4And he stared at him in terror, and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.
5And now send men to Joppa, and bring one Simon who is called Peter;
6he is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside."
7When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those that waited on him,
8and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
9The next day, as they were on their journey and coming near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

12In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.
13And there came a voice to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."
14But Peter said, "No, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
15And the voice came to him again a second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not call common."
16This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.
17Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate
18and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there.
19And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are looking for you.
20Rise and go down, and accompany them without hesitation; for I have sent them."
21And Peter went down to the men and said, "I am the one you are looking for; what is the reason for your coming?"
22And they said, "Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house, and to hear what you have to say."
23So he called them in to be his guests. The next day he rose and went off with them, and some of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24And on the following day they entered Caesare'a. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his kinsmen and close friends.
25When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.
26But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up; I too am a man."
27And as he talked with him, he went in and found many persons gathered;
28and he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit any one of another nation; but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29So when I was sent for, I came without objection. I ask then why you sent for me."
30And Cornelius said, "Four days ago, about this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel,
31saying, `Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.
32Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter; he is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the seaside.'
33So I sent to you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."
34And Peter opened his mouth and said: "Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality,
35but in every nation any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
36You know the word which he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),
37the word which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:
38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
39And we are witnesses to all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree;
40but God raised him on the third day and made him manifest;
41not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one ordained by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
43To him all the prophets bear witness that every one who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
44While Peter was still saying this, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.
45And the believers from among the circumcised who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
46For they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared,
47"Can any one forbid water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.(RSV)

1At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment.
2He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
3One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!"
4Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.
5Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.
6He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea."
7When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.
8He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa.
9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air.
13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
17While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon's house was and stopped at the gate.
18They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.
19While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three men are looking for you.
20So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."
21Peter went down and said to the men, "I'm the one you're looking for. Why have you come?"
22The men replied, "We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to have you come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say."
23Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along.
24The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
25As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence.
26But Peter made him get up. "Stand up," he said, "I am only a man myself."
27Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people.
28He said to them: "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.
29So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?"
30Cornelius answered: "Four days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me
31and said, `Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.
32Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.'
33So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us."
34Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism
35but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.
36You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
37You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached --
38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
39"We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,
40but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.
41He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen -- by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.
43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
45The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
46For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,
47"Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."
48So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.(NIV)

4He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, 'What is it, Lord?' He said to him, 'Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
5Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is surnamed Peter.
6He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside.'
7When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
8Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

15A voice came to him again the second time, 'What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.'

17Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
18and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.
19While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Behold, three men seek you.
20But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.'

32Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.'

34Peter opened his mouth and said, 'Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism;
35but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

37that spoken word youP yourselves know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

3Very openly in a vision about the 9th hour in the afternoon he saw an angel of God who came to him, and said to him, Cornelius.
4And he looked at the angel and was afraid, and he said, What is it, my Lord? And the angel said to him, Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.
5And now send men to the city of Joppa and bring here Simon who is called Peter:
6Look, he is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the seaside.
7And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called 2 of his household and a soldier who believed in God and was obedient to him,
8And he related to them everything that he had seen, and sent them to Joppa.
9The next day, while they were on their journey, drawing near to the city, Simon Peter went on the housetop to pray about noon.
10And he became hungry, and wanted to eat; but while they were preparing food for him, he fell into a trance.
11And he saw the heaven open and something fastened at the 4 corners, resembling a large linen cloth, that was let down from heaven to earth;
12And there were in it all kinds of 4-footed animals and creeping things of the earth and birds of the air.
13And a voice came to him, saying, Simon Peter, rise; kill and eat.
14But Simon Peter said, Far be it, my Lord; for I have never eaten anything which was unclean and defiled.
15And the voice came to him a 2nd time, What God has cleansed, you should not call unclean.
16This happened the 3rd time; then the cloth was lifted up to heaven.
17Now while Simon Peter was bewildered, wondering in himself what the vision he had seen should mean, the men who were sent by Cornelius arrived, and asked for the house in which Simon Peter had been staying, and they came and stood at the door of the courtyard.
18And from there they called and asked if Simon who is called Peter stayed there.
19While Simon Peter meditated about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Look, 3 men seek you.
20Arise, go down and go with them, without doubt in your mind; for I have sent them.
21Then Simon Peter went down to the men and said, I am the man you seek. What is the purpose of your mission?
22They said to him, A man called Cornelius, a righteous and God-fearing centurion of whom all the Jewish people speak well, was told in a vision by a holy angel to send and bring you to his house and to hear words from you.
23So Simon Peter brought them into the place where he was staying and welcomed them. The next day he arose and went with them, and a few men from among the brothers of Joppa accompanied him.
24And the next day they entered Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, and all his relatives and his dear friends were also assembled with him.
25And just as Simon Peter was entering, Cornelius met him and threw himself at his feet and worshiped him.
26But Simon Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I am also only a man.
27And after he had talked with him, he went in and found a great many people had come there.
28So he said to them, You know well that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with a stranger who is not of his tribe; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29This is why I came at once when you sent for me; but now let me ask you, for what reason have you sent for me?
