Acts Replay 15 Lamentations
43 Luke 12:1-59
1In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
3Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
4And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
6Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
8Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
10And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
11And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
13And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
15And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a mans life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
39And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
40Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
41Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
42And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
45But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
46The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47And that servant, which knew his lords will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
49I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I if it be already kindled?
50But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
51Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
54And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
55And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
56Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
57Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
59I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.(KJV)

45But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

56Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven; but how is it that ye know not how to interpret this time?
57And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58For as thou art going with thine adversary before the magistrate, on the way give diligence to be quit of him; lest haply he drag thee unto the judge, and the judge shall deliver thee to the officer, and the officer shall cast thee into prison.
59I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the very last mite.(ASV)
43 Luke 12:1-59
1WHEN a large number of people had gathered together so that they trod on one another, Jesus began to say to his disciples first of all, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2For there is nothing that is covered that Will not be uncovered; and hidden that will not be known.
3For whatever you have said in darkness will be heard in the light; and what you have whispered in the ears in the inner chambers will be preached on the housetops.
4I say to you, my friends, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do.
5But I will show you of whom to be afraid; of him who after he has killed has the power to throw into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear him.
6Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet not one of them is lost before God.
7But so far as you are concerned, even the hairs of your head are all numbered; therefore fear not, because you are much more important than many sparrows.
8I say to you, Whoever will acknowledge me before men, the Son of man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God.
9But he who denies me before men I will deny before the angels of God.
10And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11When they bring you to the synagogues before the leaders and authorities, do not worry how you will answer or what you will say;
12For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.
13¶ And one of the men from the crowd said to him, Teacher, ask my brother to divide the inheritance with me.
14Jesus said to him, Man, who appointed me a judge or a property divider over you?
15And he said to his disciples, Beware of all covetousness, because life does not depend on abundance of wealth.
16Then he told them a parable. The land of a rich man brought him a great many crops.
17And he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, for I have no place to gather my crops?
18So he said, I will do this: I will tear down my barns and rebuild them and enlarge them, and gather there all my wheat and my good things.
19And I will say to myself, Soul, you have many good things stored up for many years; rest, eat, drink, and be happy.
20But God said to him, O you shortsighted man, this very night your life will be demanded of you; and these things which you have prepared, to whom will they he left?
21Such is he who lays up treasures for himself and is not rich in the things of God.
22¶ And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Do not worry for your life, what you will eat; nor for your body, what you will wear.
23For life is much more important than food, and the body than clothing.
24Observe the ravens; for they do not sow or reap, and they have no storerooms and barns; and yet God feeds them; how much more important are you than the birds?
25Who among you by worrying can add to his stature one cubit?
26So if you are not able to do the smaller thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27Observe the flowers, how they grow; for they do not toil nor do they spin; but I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
28And if God clothes in such fashion the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow falls into the fireplace; how much more is he to you, O you of little faith?
29So do not be anxious about what you will eat or what you will drink, and let not your mind be disturbed by these things.
30For worldly people seek after all these things; and your Father knows that these things are also necessary for you.
31But seek the kingdom of God, and all of these things shall be added to you.
32Do not be afraid, O little flock; for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33Sell your possessions and give them as alms; make for yourselves purses which do not wear out, and a treasure in heaven that does not run short, where the thief does not come near, and moth does not destroy.
34For where your treasure is, there also will be your heart.
35Let your girdle be fastened on your loins, and your lamps lighted.
36And be like men who expect their master when he will return from the wedding house; so that when he comes and knocks, they will immediately open the door for him.
37Blessed are those servants, whom their master, when he comes. finds awake; truly I say to you that he will gird himself and make them sit down, and come in and serve them.
38If he should come in the second or the third watch and find them so, blessed are those servants.
39But know this, that if the master of the house knew at what watch the thief would come, he would have kept awake and not allowed his house to be plundered.
40Therefore, you also be ready; for the Son of man will come in that very hour which you do not expect.
41¶ Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, do you speak this parable to us or also to all men?
42Jesus said to him, Who is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will appoint over his household to give supplies in due time?
43Blessed is that servant, whom his master when he comes will find so doing.
44Truly I say to you that he will appoint him over all his wealth.
45But if that servant should say in his heart, My master has delayed his coming; and begins to beat the menservants and maidservants of his master, and then begins to eat and drink and get drunk;
46The master of that servant will come in a day and at an hour that he does not expect or know; and he will severely punish him, and place him with those who are not trustworthy.
47And the servant who knows the wishes of his master, and does not make ready according to his wishes, will receive a severe beating.
48But he who does not know, and does what is worthy of punishment will receive less beating. For to whomever more is given, of him more will be required; and to whom much is entrusted, more will be required of his hand.
49I came to set the earth on fire; and I wish to do it, if it has not already been kindled.
50I have a baptism to be baptized with; and I am oppressed until it is fulfilled.
51Do you think that I have come to bring peace on earth? I say to you, No, but divisions;
52For from henceforth there will be five in a house, who will be divided, three against two, and two against three.
53For a father will be divided against his son, and a son against his father; a mother against her daughter, and a daughter against her mother; a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
54¶ And he said to the people, When you see a cloud rise from the west, you immediately say, It will rain; and so it is.
55And when the wind blows from the south, you say, It will be hot; and it is so.
56O you hypocrites, you know how to discern the face of the earth and of the sky; how then is it that you do not discern this time?
57Why do you not of yourselves judge what is right?
58For when you go with your accuser to the ruler, while you are on the way give something and settle with him; otherwise he might take you to the judge, and the judge will deliver you to the prison warden, and the prison warden will throw you into prison.
59Truly I say to you, you will not come out from thence until you pay the last penny.

9but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
10And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say;
12for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."
13One of the multitude said to him, "Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me."
14But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or divider over you?"
15And he said to them, "Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
16And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully;
17and he thought to himself, `What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?'
18And he said, `I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.'
20But God said to him, `Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?'
21So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
22And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on.
23For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!
25And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his span of life?
26If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?
27Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28But if God so clothes the grass which is alive in the field today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith!
29And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be of anxious mind.
30For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them.
31Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well.
32"Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35"Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning,
36and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the marriage feast, so that they may open to him at once when he comes and knocks.
37Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes; truly, I say to you, he will gird himself and have them sit at table, and he will come and serve them.
38If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants!
39But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.
40You also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an unexpected hour."
41Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?"
42And the Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?
43Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing.
44Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
45But if that servant says to himself, `My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
46the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will punish him, and put him with the unfaithful.
47And that servant who knew his master's will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating.
48But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.
49"I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!
50I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how I am constrained until it is accomplished!
51Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division;
52for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three;
53they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
54He also said to the multitudes, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, `A shower is coming'; and so it happens.
55And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, `There will be scorching heat'; and it happens.
56You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
57"And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
58As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison.
59I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper."(RSV)
43 Luke 12:1-59
1Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
3What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.
4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.
5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
6Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
7Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
8"I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God.
9But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.
10And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,
12for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."
13Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
14Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?"
15Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
16And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
17He thought to himself, `What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'
18"Then he said, `This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'
20"But God said to him, `You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
21"This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.
23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!
29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.
30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
35"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,
36like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
37It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.
38It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night.
39But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.
40You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
41Peter asked, "Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?"
42The Lord answered, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?
43It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.
44I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
45But suppose the servant says to himself, `My master is taking a long time in coming,' and he then begins to beat the menservants and maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk.
46The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
47"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.
48But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
49"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed!
51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.
52From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three.
53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
54He said to the crowd: "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, `It's going to rain,' and it does.
55And when the south wind blows, you say, `It's going to be hot,' and it is.
56Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?
57"Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?
58As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
59I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.(NIV)
