42 Mark 4:1-40
   1And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
2And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
3Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
4And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
5And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
6But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
8And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
9And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
 10And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
14The sower soweth the word.
15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the words sake, immediately they are offended.
18And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
 21And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
22For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
23If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
 24And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
 26And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
 30And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
33And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
34But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
 35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

20And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.
21And he said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, and not to be put on the stand?
22For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

34and without a parable spake he not unto them: but privately to his own disciples he expounded all things.
35And on that day, when even was come, he saith unto them, Let us go over unto the other side.
36And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him.
37And there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling.
38And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish?
39And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?

1AGAIN he began to teach by the sea side; and many people gathered unto him, so that he went up and sat in a boat in the sea; and all the people stood on the land by the sea.
2And he taught them much by parables, and in his teaching he said,
3Listen; Behold, a sower went out to sow.
4And when he had sown, some fell on the roadside, and the fowls came and ate it.
5Other fell upon the rock, where there was not sufficient soil; and it sprung up earlier because the ground was not deep enough;
6But when the sun shone, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it dried up.
7And other fell among thistles, and the thistles sprung up and choked it, and it bore no fruit.
8But other fell in good soil, and it sprung up and grew and bore fruit, some thirty, and some sixty, and some one hundred.
9And he said, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
10When they were alone by themselves, those who were with him together with the twelve asked him about that parable.
11And Jesus said to them, To you is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to the outsiders everything has to be explained by parables.
12For seeing they see, and yet do not perceive; and hearing they hear, and yet do not understand; if they return, their sins would be forgiven.
13And he said to them, Do you not know this parable? how then will you know all the parables?
14¶ The sower who sowed, sowed the word.
15Those on the roadside are those in whom the word is sown; and when they have heard it, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word which is sown in their hearts.
16And those which were sown upon the rock, are those who when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy;
17And they have no root in themselves, but last for a while; and when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they soon stumble.
18And those which were sown among thistles are those who have heard the word,
19And the thoughts of this world, and the deception of wealth, and the lusts of other things, enter in and choke the word, and bear no fruit.
20And those which were sown in good soil, are those who hear the word, and receive it and bear fruit, one thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundred.
21¶ And he said to them, Is a lamp brought and put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not put on a lampholder?
22For there is nothing hidden which will not be uncovered; and nothing in secret which will not be revealed.
23If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.
24¶ And he said to them, Take heed what you hear; with what measure you measure it will be measured to you; and increase especially to them who hear.
25For he who has, to him will be given; and he who has not, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
26¶ And he said, Such is the kingdom of God, like a man who casts seed in the ground.
27And he sleeps and rises up night and day, and the seed springs up and grows, while he is not aware of it.
28For the earth causes it to yield fruit; and yet first it becomes a blade of grass, then an ear, and at last a full grain in the ear.
29But when the fruit is ripe, then immediately comes the sickle, because the harvest is ready.
30¶ And he said, To what shall we compare the kingdom of God? and with what parable shall we picture it?
31It is just like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth.
32But when it is sown, it springs up and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds can settle under their shadow.
33¶ Jesus talked to them with parables as these, such parables as they were able to hear.
34And without parables he did not speak to them; but to his disciples, among themselves, he explained everything.
35On that day, at evening, he said to them, Let us cross over to the landing place.
36And they left the people, and took him away while he was in the boat. And there were other boats with them.
37And there arose a heavy storm and wind, and the waves kept falling into the boat, so that the boat was nearly filled up.
38But Jesus was sleeping on a blanket in the stern of the boat; and they came and roused him and said to him, Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?
39So he got up, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind quieted down, and there was a great calm.
40And he said to them, Why are you so fearful? and why do you have no faith? And they were exceedingly afraid, and said to each other, Oh, who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

1Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge.
2He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said:
3"Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.
4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.
6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.
7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.
8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."
9Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
10When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.
11He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables
12so that, "`they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'"
13Then Jesus said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?
14The farmer sows the word.
15Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.
16Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.
17But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;
19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.
20Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop -- thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown."
21He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand?
22For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.
23If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."
24"Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you -- and even more.
25Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."
26He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground.
27Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
28All by itself the soil produces grain -- first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
29As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."
30Again he said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it?
31It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground.
32Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade."
33With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand.
34He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
35That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side."
36Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.
37A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.
38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"(NIV)

35On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, 'Let's go over to the other side.'
36Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.
37There arose a great wind storm, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.
38He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, 'Teacher, don't you care that we are dying?'
39He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace! Be still!' The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40He said to them, 'Why are youP so afraid? How is it that youP have no faith?'(WEB)
42 Mark 4:1-40
1Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea, and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.
2He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,
3'Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow,
4and it happened, as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and devoured it.
5Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.
6When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
8Others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some brought forth thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.'
9He said, 'Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.'
10When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.
11He said to them, 'To you is given the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,
12that 'seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.''
13He said to them, 'Don't you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?
14The farmer sows the word.
15The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them.
16These in like manner are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.
17They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.
18Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,
19and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
20Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.'
21He said to them, 'Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn't it put on a stand?
22For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.
23If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.'
24He said to them, 'Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.
25For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn't have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.'
26He said, 'The Kingdom of God is as if a man should cast seed on the earth,
27and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he doesn't know how.
28For the earth bears fruit: first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
29But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he puts forth the sickle, because the harvest has come.'
30He said, 'How will we liken the Kingdom of God? Or with what parable will we illustrate it?
31It's like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,
32yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.'
33With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it.
34Without a parable he didn't speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.

8But other fell in good soil, and it sprung up and grew and bore fruit, some 30, some 60, and some 100.
9And he said, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
10When they were alone by themselves, those who were with him together with the 12 asked him about that parable.
11And Jesus said to them, To you is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to the outsiders everything has to be explained by parables.
12For seeing they see, yet do not perceive; and hearing they hear, but do not understand; if they return, their sins would be forgiven.
13And he said to them, Do you not know this parable? How then will you understand all the other parables?

26And he said, Such is the kingdom of God, like a man who casts seed in the ground.
27And he sleeps and rises up night and day, and the seed springs up and grows, while he is not aware of it.
28For the earth causes it to yield fruit; first it becomes a blade of grass, then an ear, and at last a full grain in the ear.
29But when the fruit is ripe, then immediately comes the sickle, because the harvest is ready.
30And he said, To what will we compare the kingdom of God? With what parable will we picture it?
31It is just like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth.
32But when it is sown, it springs up and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds can settle under their shadow.
33Jesus talked to them with parables as these, such parables as they were able to hear.
34And without parables he did not speak to them; but to his disciples, among themselves, he explained everything.
35On that day, at evening, he said to them, Let us cross over to the landing place.
36And they left the people, and took him away while he was in the boat. And there were other boats with them.
37And there arose a heavy storm and wind, and the waves kept falling into the boat, so that the boat was nearly filled up.
38But Jesus was sleeping on a blanket in the stern of the boat; and they came and roused him and said to him, Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?
39So he got up, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind quieted down, and there was a great calm.
40And he said to them, Why are you so fearful? Why do you have no faith? And they were exceedingly afraid, and said to each other, Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
