37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains. 2Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

3And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying, 4Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in: 5For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another. 6Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars? 7Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel: 8And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth. 9Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning, 10And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.

11And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever. 13I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee: 14But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore. 15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

16And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? 17And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servants house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God. 18What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant. 19O LORD, for thy servants sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things. 20O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt? 22For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God. 23Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said. 24Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee. 25For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee. 26And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant: 27Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.(KJV)

Moreover I tell thee that Jehovah will build thee a house. 11And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will set up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever. 13I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my lovingkindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee; 14but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be established for ever. 15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

16Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Jehovah God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far? 17And this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; but thou hast spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Jehovah God. 18What can David say yet more unto thee concerning the honor which is done to thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant. 19O Jehovah, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou wrought all this greatness, to make known all these great things. 20O Jehovah, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem unto himself for a people, to make thee a name by great and terrible things, in driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou redeemest out of Egypt? 22For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, Jehovah, becamest their God. 23And now, O Jehovah, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, be established for ever, and do as thou hast spoken. 24And let thy name be established and magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and the house of David thy servant is established before thee. 25For thou, O my God, hast revealed to thy servant that thou wilt build him a house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray before thee. 26And now, O Jehovah, thou art God, and hast promised this good thing unto thy servant: 27and now it hath pleased thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Jehovah, hast blessed, and it is blessed for ever.(ASV)

37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1NOW it came to pass when David dwelt in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold, I dwell in a house which is covered with the beams of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD is resting in the midst of the tent of hair of goats. 2Then Nathan said to David, Go and do all that is in your heart. 3And it came to pass that same night, the word of the LORD came to Nathan the prophet, saying, 4Go and thus say to my servant David, You shall not build me a house to dwell in; 5For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel out of Egypt to this day; but I moved from tent to tent. 6Behold, wherever I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word to any of the judges of Israel whom I commanded to judge my people Israel, saying, Why have you not built me a house which is covered with cedars? 7Now therefore thus shall you say to my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the sheepfold, even from following the sheep, that you should be king over my people Israel; 8And I have been with you wheresoever you went and have destroyed your enemies from before you, and I have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 9I will also appoint a place for my people Israel and will cause them to settle, and they shall dwell in their place and shall be moved no more; neither shall the wicked men carry them captive any more, as formerly. 10And since the day that I made you a judge over my people Israel, I have given you rest from all your enemies. Moreover the LORD has declared to you that the kingdom is established for ever. 11And it shall come to pass when your days are fulfilled that you shall go to be gathered with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come out of your loins, and I will establish him in your kingdom. 12He shall build a house to my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 13I will be his father and he shall be my son; and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from Saul, who was before you. 14But I will make him a ruler in my house and in my kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be established for evermore. 15According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

16¶ And King David came and sat before the LORD and said, Who am I in thy presence, O LORD God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me to this eminence? 17And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O LORD God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come; for all the men who worship thee with all their heart, thou bringest out of the darkness into the light, O LORD God. 18What more can David boast to speak before thee? For the works of thy servant are known, O LORD God. 19For thou knowest that which is in the heart of thy servant, that thou hast done for him all this greatness in making great thy servant. 20Therefore I know, O LORD God, there is none like thee and there is no God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21And what other nation on earth is united like thy people Israel? For thou didst reveal thyself from heaven and saved them, and for their sakes thou didst perform great and terrible wonders and brought severe plagues upon the Egyptians until thou didst bring them out from among them. 22For thy people Israel thou didst make thine own people for ever; and thou, O LORD, didst become their God. 23Therefore now, O LORD, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said. 24And let thy works be established for ever, and thy name be magnified in the world for ever, so that the people shall say, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel; and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee for ever. 25For thou, O my God, hast revealed the secret to thy servant, and hast said to him, Build for yourself a house; therefore thy servant has set in his heart to pray before thee this prayer. 26And now, O LORD, thou art God, and all thy words are true, with which thou hast promised this goodness to thy servant; 27Now therefore reveal thyself to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever; for thou, O LORD God, hast spoken, and of thy blessing shall all the houses of righteous men be blessed for ever. 37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1Now when David dwelt in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, "Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent." 2And Nathan said to David, "Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you."

3But that same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, 4"Go and tell my servant David, `Thus says the LORD: You shall not build me a house to dwell in. 5For I have not dwelt in a house since the day I led up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from dwelling to dwelling. 6In all places where I have moved with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people, saying, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"' 7Now therefore thus shall you say to my servant David, `Thus says the LORD of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel; 8and I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make for you a name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. 9And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be disturbed no more; and violent men shall waste them no more, as formerly, 10from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel; and I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I declare to you that the LORD will build you a house. 11When your days are fulfilled to go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne for ever. 13I will be his father, and he shall be my son; I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you, 14but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom for ever and his throne shall be established for ever.'" 15In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.

16Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and said, "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far? 17And this was a small thing in thy eyes, O God; thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast shown me future generations, O LORD God! 18And what more can David say to thee for honoring thy servant? For thou knowest thy servant. 19For thy servant's sake, O LORD, and according to thy own heart, thou hast wrought all this greatness, in making known all these great things. 20There is none like thee, O LORD, and there is no God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21What other nation on earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his people, making for thyself a name for great and terrible things, in driving out nations before thy people whom thou didst redeem from Egypt? 22And thou didst make thy people Israel to be thy people for ever; and thou, O LORD, didst become their God. 23And now, O LORD, let the word which thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast spoken; 24and thy name will be established and magnified for ever, saying, `The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel's God,' and the house of thy servant David will be established before thee. 25For thou, my God, hast revealed to thy servant that thou wilt build a house for him; therefore thy servant has found courage to pray before thee. 26And now, O LORD, thou art God, and thou hast promised this good thing to thy servant; 27now therefore may it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for what thou, O LORD, hast blessed is blessed for ever."(RSV)

37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent."

2Nathan replied to David, "Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you."

3That night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:

4"Go and tell my servant David, `This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in. 5I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another. 6Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"'

7"Now then, tell my servant David, `This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock, to be ruler over my people Israel. 8I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men of the earth. 9And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning 10and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies. "`I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you: 11When your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 13I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. 14I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.'"

15Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

16Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 17And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men, O LORD God.

18"What more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant, 19O LORD. For the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made known all these great promises.

20"There is no one like you, O LORD, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 21And who is like your people Israel -- the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt? 22You made your people Israel your very own forever, and you, O LORD, have become their God.

23"And now, LORD, let the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house be established forever. Do as you promised, 24so that it will be established and that your name will be great forever. Then men will say, `The LORD Almighty, the God over Israel, is Israel's God!' And the house of your servant David will be established before you.

25"You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. 26O LORD, you are God! You have promised these good things to your servant. 27Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever."(NIV)

37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1It happened, when David lived in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Yahweh dwells under curtains. 2Nathan said to David, Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you. 3It happened the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying, 4Go and tell David my servant, Thus says Yahweh, You shall not build me a house to dwell in: 5for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another. 6In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, spoke I a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, Why have youP not built me a house of cedar? 7Now therefore thus shall you tell my servant David, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel: 8and I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth. 9I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first, 10and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house. 11It shall happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who shall be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. 13I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you; 14but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever; and his throne shall be established forever. 15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David. 16Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, Who am I, Yahwehf God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? 17This was a small thing in your eyes, God; but you have spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, Yahwehf God. 18What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? for you know your servant. 19Yahwehf , for your servant's sake, and according to your own heart, have you worked all this greatness, to make known all these great things. 20Yahwehf , there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21What one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeem out of Egypt? 22For your people Israel did you make your own people forever; and you, Yahwehf , became their God. 23Now, Yahwehf , let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken. 24Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, Yahweh of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and the house of David your servant is established before you. 25For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house: therefore has your servant found in his heart to pray before you. 26Now, Yahwehf , you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant: 27and now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you: for you, Yahwehf , have blessed, and it is blessed forever.(WEB)

37 First Chronicles 17:1-27 1NOW it came to pass when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, Look, I live in a house which is covered with the beams of cedars, but the ark of the contract of Yahvah is resting in the middle of a tent of goat's hair. 2Then Nathan said to David, Go and do all that is in your heart.

3And it came to pass that same night, the word of Yahvah came to Nathan the prophet, saying, 4Go and say to my servant David, You will not build me a house to live in; 5For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel out of Egypt to this day; but I moved from tent to tent. 6Look, wherever I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word to any of the judges of Israel whom I commanded to judge my people Israel, saying, Why have you not built me a house which is covered with cedars? 7Now therefore you will say to my servant David, Thus says Yahvah of hosts: I took you from the sheepfold, even from following the sheep, so you would be king over my people Israel; 8And I have been with you wherever you went and have destroyed your enemies from before you, and I have made your name great, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 9I will also appoint a place for my people Israel and will cause them to settle, and they will live in their place and will not be moved any longer; nor will the wicked men carry them captive any longer, as formerly. 10And since the day that I made you a judge over my people Israel, I have given you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, Yahvah has declared to you that the kingdom is established forever.

11And it will come to pass when your days are fulfilled that you will be gathered with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who will come out of your loins, and I will establish him in your kingdom. 12He will build a house to my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 13I will be his father and he will be my son; and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from Saul, who was before you. 14But I will make him a ruler in my house and in my kingdom forever; and his throne will be established forever. 15According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

16And King David came and sat before Yahvah and said, Who am I in your presence, oh Yahvah God, and what is my house, that you have brought me to this eminence? 17Yet this was a small thing in your eyes, oh Yahvah God; for you have also spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come; for all the men who worship you with all their heart, you bring out of the darkness into the light, oh Yahvah God. 18What more can David boast to speak before you? For the works of your servant are known, oh Yahvah God. 19For you know that which is in the heart of your servant, that you have done for him all this greatness in making great your servant. 20Therefore, I know, oh Yahvah God, there is no one like you and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21And what other nation on earth is united like your people Israel? For you revealed yourself from heaven and saved them, and for their sakes you performed great and terrible wonders and brought severe plagues on the Egyptians until you brought them out from among them. 22For your people Israel you made your own people forever; and you, oh Yahvah, became their God. 23Therefore, now, oh Yahvah, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as you have said. 24And let your works be established forever, and your name be magnified in the world forever, so that the people will say, Yahvah of hosts is the God of Israel; and let the house of David your servant be established before you forever. 25For you, oh my God, have revealed the secret to your servant, and have said to him, Build for yourself a house; therefore your servant has set in his heart to pray before you this prayer. 26And now, oh Yahvah, you are God, and all your words are true, with which you have promised this goodness to your servant; 27Now therefore reveal yourself to bless the house of your servant, that it may be before you forever; for you, oh Yahvah God, have spoken, and of your blessing will all the houses of righteous men be blessed forever.
