31 Song of Solomon 1:1-17 1The song of songs, which is Solomons. 2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. 3Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. 4Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. 5I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. 6Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mothers children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept. 7Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

8If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds tents. 9I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaohs chariots. 10Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold. 11We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.

12While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof. 13A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts. 14My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of En-gedi. 15Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves eyes. 16Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green. 17The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.(KJV)

31 Song of Solomon 1:1-17 1The Song of songs, which is Solomon's.

2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth;

For thy love is better than wine.

3Thine oils have a goodly fragrance;

Thy name is as oil poured forth;

Therefore do the virgins love thee.

4Draw me; we will run after thee:

The king hath brought me into his chambers;

We will be glad and rejoice in thee;

We will make mention of thy love more than of wine:

Rightly do they love thee.

5I am black, but comely,

Oh ye daughters of Jerusalem,

As the tents of Kedar,

As the curtains of Solomon.

6Look not upon me, because I am swarthy,

Because the sun hath scorched me.

My mother's sons were incensed against me;

They made me keeper of the vineyards;

But mine own vineyard have I not kept.

7Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth,

Where thou feedest thy flock,

Where thou makest it to rest at noon:

For why should I be as one that is veiled

Beside the flocks of thy companions?

8If thou know not, O thou fairest among women,

Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,

And feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.

9I have compared thee, O my love,

To a steed in Pharaoh's chariots.

10Thy cheeks are comely with plaits of hair,

Thy neck with strings of jewels.

11We will make thee plaits of gold

With studs of silver.

12While the king sat at his table,

My spikenard sent forth its fragrance.

13My beloved is unto me as a bundle of myrrh,

That lieth betwixt my breasts.

14My beloved is unto me as a cluster of henna-flowers

In the vineyards of En-gedi.

15Behold, thou art fair, my love;

Behold thou art fair;

Thine eyes are as doves.

16Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant:

Also our couch is green.

17The beams of our house are cedars,(ASV)

31 Song of Solomon 1:1-17 1THE song of songs, which is Solomon's, the son of David king of Israel.

2¶ Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; for your love is better than wine. 3Because of the fragrance of your good ointments your name is like ointment of myrrh, therefore do the virgins love you. 4Draw me after you, let us run; the king has brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in you, we will remember your love more than wine, and your affections more than the upright. 5I have dark skin, but I am comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. 6Do not look at me because I have dark skin, because the sun has tanned me; my mother's sons contended with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but my own vineyard I have not kept.

7¶ Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, where did I feed, where did I make my flock to rest at noon? Lest I become like a sheep which has gone astray from your flocks. 8If you do not know, O you most beautiful among women, come, follow in the footprints of the flock, and feed your kids beside the shepherds' tents. 9I have compared you, O my beloved, to a mare in Pharaoh's chariot. 10Your cheeks are comely with braided hair, and your neck with necklaces. 11We will make for you golden chains with studs of silver.

12¶ While you are seated with the king upon his cushion, spikenard sends forth its fragrance. 13A bundle of myrrh is my beloved to me; he shall lie all night between my breasts. 14My beloved is to me like a cluster of henna flowers in a vineyard of Engad. 15Behold, you are beautiful, O my beloved; behold, you are fair; you have dove's eyes. 16Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, yea, pleasant; also our bed is spacious. 17The beams of our house are of cedar, and our rafters of cypress. 31 Song of Solomon 1:1-17 1The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's. 2O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth! For your love is better than wine, 3your anointing oils are fragrant, your name is oil poured out; therefore the maidens love you. 4Draw me after you, let us make haste. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you. 5I am very dark, but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. 6Do not gaze at me because I am swarthy, because the sun has scorched me. My mother's sons were angry with me, they made me keeper of the vineyards; but, my own vineyard I have not kept! 7Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who wanders beside the flocks of your companions? 8If you do not know, O fairest among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your kids beside the shepherds' tents. 9I compare you, my love, to a mare of Pharaoh's chariots. 10Your cheeks are comely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels. 11We will make you ornaments of gold, studded with silver. 12While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance. 13My beloved is to me a bag of myrrh, that lies between my breasts. 14My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Enge'di. 15Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are doves. 16Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, truly lovely. Our couch is green; 17the beams of our house are cedar, our rafters are pine. (RSV)

31 Song of Solomon 1:1-17 1Solomon's Song of Songs. 2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth -- for your love is more delightful than wine. 3Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you! 4Take me away with you -- let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you! 5Dark am I, yet lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon. 6Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother's sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I have neglected. 7Tell me, you whom I love, where you graze your flock and where you rest your sheep at midday. Why should I be like a veiled woman beside the flocks of your friends? 8If you do not know, most beautiful of women, follow the tracks of the sheep and graze your young goats by the tents of the shepherds. 9I liken you, my darling, to a mare harnessed to one of the chariots of Pharaoh. 10Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels. 11We will make you earrings of gold, studded with silver. 12While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance. 13My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts. 14My lover is to me a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi. 15How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves. 16How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant. 17The beams of our house are cedars; our rafters are firs.(NIV)
