26 Psalms 44:1-26 1We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

2How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

3For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

4Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

5Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

6For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

8In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

9But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

10Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

11Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

12Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

13Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

14Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

15My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

16For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

17All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

18Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

19Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

20If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

21Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

23Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

24Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

25For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

26Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies sake.(KJV)

26 Psalms 44:1-26 1We have heard with our ears, O God,

Our fathers have told us,

What work thou didst in their days,

In the days of old.

2Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand;

But them thou didst plant:

Thou didst afflict the peoples;

But them thou didst spread abroad.

3For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword,

Neither did their own arm save them;

But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance,

Because thou wast favorable unto them.

4Thou art my King, O God:

Command deliverance for Jacob.

5Through thee will we push down our adversaries:

Through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

6For I will not trust in my bow,

Neither shall my sword save me.

7But thou hast saved us from our adversaries,

And hast put them to shame that hate us.

8In God have we made our boast all the day long,

And we will give thanks unto thy name for ever.

Selah

9But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor,

And goest not forth with our hosts.

10Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary;

And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.

11Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food,

And hast scattered us among the nations.

12Thou sellest thy people for nought,

And hast not increased thy wealth by their price.

13Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors,

A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us.

14Thou makest us a byword among the nations,

A shaking of the head among the peoples.

15All the day long is my dishonor before me,

And the shame of my face hath covered me,

16For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth,

By reason of the enemy and the avenger.

17All this is come upon us;

Yet have we not forgotten thee,

Neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

18Our heart is not turned back,

Neither have our steps declined from thy way,

19That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals,

And covered us with the shadow of death.

20If we have forgotten the name of our God,

Or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

21Will not God search this out?

For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long;

We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

23Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord?

Arise, cast us not off for ever.

24Wherefore hidest thou thy face,

And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

25For our soul is bowed down to the dust:

Our body cleaveth unto the earth.

26 Psalms 44:1-26 1WE have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us what work thou hast wrought in their days, in the times of old; 2How thou didst destroy the Gentiles with thy hand, and established thy people; how thou didst vex the kingdoms, and strengthened thy people. 3For they inherited not the land by their sword, neither did their own arm save them; but thy right hand and thine arm and the light of thy countenance, because thou wast pleased with them. 4Thou art my King, O God; for thou commandest deliverances for Jacob. 5Through thee will we pierce our enemies; through thy name will we tread them under that hate us. 6For we trust not in our bows; neither on our armour to save us. 7But thou hast saved us from those who hate us, and hast put to shame our enemies. 8We glorify thee, O God, all the day long, and praise thy name for ever.

9¶ But now thou hast forsaken us and put us to shame, and goest not forth with our armies: 10But thou makest us to be defeated; and our enemies have plundered us. 11Thou hast sold us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the Gentiles. 12Thou hast sold thy people as a bargain, and dost not profit by their exchange. 13Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. 14Thou makest us a byword among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the nations. 15All the day long my disgrace is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, 16Because of the voice of him who reproaches and blasphemes; and because of the enemy that avenges.

17¶ All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. 18We have not turned back, neither have we swerved our steps from thy way; 19For thou hast humbled us a second time in the land, and covered us with the shadow of death. 20And yet we have not forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to stranger gods; 21God will look into this thing, for he knows the secrets of the heart. 22Yea, for thy sake are we killed every day; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. 23Awake and sleep not, O LORD; remember us and forsake us not. 24Turn not thy face from us, and forget not our humiliation and our oppression; 25For our soul is humbled down to the dust; our body touches the earth. 26Arise to help us; redeem us for thy mercies' sake. 26 Psalms 44:1-26 1To the choirmaster. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah. 2We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what deeds thou didst perform in their days, in the days of old: 3thou with thy own hand didst drive out the nations, but them thou didst plant; thou didst afflict the peoples, but them thou didst set free; 4for not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm give them victory; but thy right hand, and thy arm, and the light of thy countenance; for thou didst delight in them. 5Thou art my King and my God, who ordainest victories for Jacob. 6Through thee we push down our foes; through thy name we tread down our assailants. 7For not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me. 8But thou hast saved us from our foes, and hast put to confusion those who hate us. 9In God we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to thy name for ever. [Selah] 10Yet thou hast cast us off and abased us, and hast not gone out with our armies. 11Thou hast made us turn back from the foe; and our enemies have gotten spoil. 12Thou hast made us like sheep for slaughter, and hast scattered us among the nations. 13Thou hast sold thy people for a trifle, demanding no high price for them. 14Thou hast made us the taunt of our neighbors, the derision and scorn of those about us. 15Thou hast made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples. 16All day long my disgrace is before me, and shame has covered my face, 17at the words of the taunters and revilers, at the sight of the enemy and the avenger. 18All this has come upon us, though we have not forgotten thee, or been false to thy covenant. 19Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from thy way, 20that thou shouldst have broken us in the place of jackals, and covered us with deep darkness. 21If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god, 22would not God discover this? For he knows the secrets of the heart. 23Nay, for thy sake we are slain all the day long, and accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 24Rouse thyself! Why sleepest thou, O Lord? Awake! Do not cast us off for ever! 25Why dost thou hide thy face? Why dost thou forget our affliction and oppression? 26For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaves to the ground. [ (Psalms 44:27) Rise up, come to our help! Deliver us for the sake of thy steadfast love! ] (RSV)

26 Psalms 44:1-26 1We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago.

2With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our fathers; you crushed the peoples and made our fathers flourish.

3It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.

4You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob.

5Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes.

6I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; 7but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.

8In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever. Selah 9But now you have rejected and humbled us; you no longer go out with our armies.

10You made us retreat before the enemy, and our adversaries have plundered us.

11You gave us up to be devoured like sheep and have scattered us among the nations.

12You sold your people for a pittance, gaining nothing from their sale.

13You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us.

14You have made us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us.

15My disgrace is before me all day long, and my face is covered with shame 16at the taunts of those who reproach and revile me, because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.

17All this happened to us, though we had not forgotten you or been false to your covenant.

18Our hearts had not turned back; our feet had not strayed from your path.

19But you crushed us and made us a haunt for jackals and covered us over with deep darkness.

20If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god,

21would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart? 22Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.

23Awake, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.

24Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression?

25We are brought down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground.

26Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love.(NIV)
