26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

2I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.

3My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,

4LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.

5Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

6Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

7And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

8Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

9I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.

10Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.

11When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.

12Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

13O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.(KJV)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I said, I will take heed to my ways,

That I sin not with my tongue:

I will keep my mouth with a bridle,

While the wicked is before me.

2I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good;

And my sorrow was stirred.

3My heart was hot within me;

While I was musing the fire burned:

Then spake I with my tongue:

4Jehovah, make me to know mine end,

And the measure of my days, what it is;

Let me know how frail I am.

5Behold, thou hast made my days as handbreadths;

And my life-time is as nothing before thee:

Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity.

Selah

6Surely every man walketh in a vain show;

Surely they are disquieted in vain:

He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

7And now, Lord, what wait I for?

My hope is in thee.

8Deliver me from all my transgressions:

Make me not the reproach of the foolish.

9I was dumb, I opened not my mouth;

Because thou didst it.

10Remove thy stroke away from me:

I am consumed by the blow of thy hand.

11When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity,

Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth:

Surely every man is vanity.

Selah

12Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, and give ear unto my cry;

Hold not thy peace at my tears:

For I am a stranger with thee,

A sojourner, as all my fathers were.

13Oh spare me, that I may recover strength,(ASV)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I SAID, I will take heed to my ways that I sin not with my tongue; I will keep the words of my mouth under control while the wicked is before me. 2I was dumb and sorrowful, I was wretched, I held myself aloof, even from good; and my sorrow was multiplied. 3My heart was hot within me; and my body was on fire; then spoke I with my tongue, 4LORD, show me mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know my destiny. 5Behold, thou hast given my days a limit; and mine age is as nothing before thee; verily all men stand as a mere breath. 6Because every man walks as an image, he disappears as a breath; he buries treasures and knows not who shall gather them.

7¶ Henceforth, what is my hope except in thee, O LORD? 8Deliver thou me from all my transgressions; make me not the reproach of the unjust. 9I was dumb, I opened not my mouth, because thou didst it. 10Remove thy scourges from me; I am stricken by the blow of thy hand. 11I am consumed by rebuke on account of my sins; thou dost chastise a man and dost remove his desires like stubble. Verily all men are like a breath. 12Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears; for I am a dweller with thee and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. 13O deliver me, that I may rest in peace before I pass away and be no more. (LAM)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1To the choirmaster: to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. 2I said, "I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will bridle my mouth, so long as the wicked are in my presence." 3I was dumb and silent, I held my peace to no avail; my distress grew worse, 4my heart became hot within me. As I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue: 5"LORD, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is! 6Behold, thou hast made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing in thy sight. Surely every man stands as a mere breath! [Selah] 7Surely man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nought are they in turmoil; man heaps up, and knows not who will gather! 8"And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in thee. 9Deliver me from all my transgressions. Make me not the scorn of the fool! 10I am dumb, I do not open my mouth; for it is thou who hast done it. 11Remove thy stroke from me; I am spent by the blows of thy hand. 12When thou dost chasten man with rebukes for sin, thou dost consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely every man is a mere breath! [Selah] 13"Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears! For I am thy passing guest, a sojourner, like all my fathers. [ (Psalms 39:14) Look away from me, that I may know gladness, before I depart and be no more!" ] (RSV)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I said, "I will watch my ways
and keep my tongue from sin;

I will put a muzzle on my mouth
as long as the wicked are in my presence."

2But when I was silent and still,
not even saying anything good,
my anguish increased.

3My heart grew hot within me,
and as I meditated, the fire burned;
then I spoke with my tongue:

4"Show me, O LORD, my life's end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting is my life.

5You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Each man's life is but a breath. Selah

6Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro:
He bustles about, but only in vain;
he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.

7"But now, Lord, what do I look for?
My hope is in you.

8Save me from all my transgressions;
do not make me the scorn of fools.

9I was silent; I would not open my mouth,
for you are the one who has done this.

10Remove your scourge from me;
I am overcome by the blow of your hand.

11You rebuke and discipline men for their sin;
you consume their wealth like a moth --
each man is but a breath. Selah

12"Hear my prayer, O LORD,
listen to my cry for help;
be not deaf to my weeping.

For I dwell with you as an alien,
a stranger, as all my fathers were.

13Look away from me, that I may rejoice again
before I depart and am no more."(NIV)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I said, 'I will watch my ways, so that I don't sin with my tongue.
I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me.'

2I was mute with silence.
I held my peace, even from good.
My sorrow was stirred.

3My heart was hot within me.
While I meditated, the fire burned:

I spoke with my tongue:
4'Yahwehf , show me my end,
What is the measure of my days.
Let me know how frail I am.

5Behold, you have made my days handbreadths.
My lifetime is as nothing before you.

Surely every man stands as a breath.'

Selah.

6'Surely every man walks like a shadow.
Surely they busy themselves in vain.
He heaps up, and doesn't know who shall gather.

7Now, Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in you.

8Deliver me from all my transgressions.
Don't make me the reproach of the foolish.

9I was mute.
I didn't open my mouth,
Because you did it.

10Remove your scourge away from me.
I am overcome by the blow of your hand.

11When you rebuke and correct man for iniquity,
You consume his wealth like a moth.

Surely every man is but a breath.'

Selah.

12'Hear my prayer, Yahwehf , and give ear to my cry.
Don't be silent at my tears.

For I am a stranger with you,
A foreigner, as all my fathers were.

13Oh spare me, that I may recover strength,
Before I go away, and be no more.'(WEB)

Don't be silent at my tears.

For I am a stranger with you,
a foreigner, as all my fathers were.

before I go away, and exist no more.'(WEB/HNV)

26 Psalms 39:1-13 1I SAID, I will be careful with my ways so that I do not sin with my tongue; I will keep the words of my mouth under control while the wicked are before me. 2I was mute and sorrowful, I was wretched, I held myself aloof, even from good; and my sorrow was multiplied. 3My heart was hot inside me; and my body was on fire; then I spoke with my tongue, 4Yahvah, show me my end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know my destiny. 5Look, you have given my days a limit; and my age is as nothing before you; assuredly all men stand as a mere breath. 6Because every man walks as an image, he disappears as a breath; he buries treasures and does not know who will gather them.

7From now on, what is my hope except in you, oh Lord? 8Deliver me from all my transgressions; do not make me the disgrace of the unjust. 9I was mute, I did not open my mouth, because you did it. 10Remove your scourges from me; I am struck by the blow of your hand. 11I am consumed by rebuke on account of my sins; you chastise a man and remove his desires like stubble. Assuredly all men are like a breath. 12Hear my prayer, oh Yahvah; give ear to my cry; do not hold your peace at my tears; for I live with you and am a temporary resident here, as all my fathers were. 13Deliver me, that I may rest in peace before I pass away and be no more.
