26 Psalms 35:1-28 1Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

4Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

5Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

6Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

7For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

8Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

9And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

21Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

22This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

23Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

24Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

26Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

27Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.(KJV)

26 Psalms 35:1-28 1Strive thou, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me:

Fight thou against them that fight against me.

2Take hold of shield and buckler,

And stand up for my help.

3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me:

Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt.

5Let them be as chaff before the wind,

And the angel of Jehovah driving them on.

And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.

7For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit;

Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.

8Let destruction come upon him unawares;

And let his net that he hath hid catch himself:

With destruction let him fall therein.

It shall rejoice in his salvation.

26 Psalms 35:1-28 1PLEAD my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me. 2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. 3Draw out the sword and flash it against them that persecute me; say unto my soul. I am your Saviour. 4Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise evil against me. 5Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the LORD chase them. 6Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. 7For they have dug pits for me and have spread a snare for my soul. 8Let evil come upon them unawares; and let the net that they have hidden trap them; into that very pit which they have dug let them fall. 9My soul shall be joyful in God; it shall rejoice in his salvation. 10All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the poor from his enemies, yea, the poor and the needy from him that seizes his property by force?

11¶ False witnesses rose up; they charged me with things that I knew not. 12They rewarded me evil for good, and they destroyed my reputation among men. 13But as for me, when they were sick, I wore sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into my own bosom. 14I behaved myself as though they had been my friends and brothers; I bowed down heavily, as one miserable in deep mourning. 15During my misery they gathered together and rejoiced; yea, they gathered together against me for a long time, and I knew it not; 16With their boasting and mocking, they gnashed at me with their teeth.

17¶ My LORD, I have suffered enough; rescue my soul from their riot, my only one from the lions. 18I will give thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise thee among many people. 19Let mine enemies not rejoice over me, nor the mockers who hate me for no reason; they wink with their eyes but they do not salute. 20Against the meek of the earth, they devise mischievous things. 21Yea, they opened their mouths wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it. 22This thou hast seen, O God; keep not silence; O my LORD, be not far from the. 23stir up thyself and awake to my judgment, see my suffering, my God and my LORD. 24judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. 25Let them not say in their hearts, We have rid ourselves of him and we have buried him. 26Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion who wish me evil; let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. 27Let them who are pleased with my victory shout for joy and be glad; yea, let them say continually, The LORD be magnified who has pleasure in the peace of his servant, 28And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. 26 Psalms 35:1-28 1A Psalm of David. 2Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! 3Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise for my help! 4Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, "I am your deliverance!" 5Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life! Let them be turned back and confounded who devise evil against me! 6Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them on! 7Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them! 8For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. 9Let ruin come upon them unawares! And let the net which they hid ensnare them; let them fall therein to ruin! 10Then my soul shall rejoice in the LORD, exulting in his deliverance. 11All my bones shall say, "O LORD, who is like thee, thou who deliverest the weak from him who is too strong for him, the weak and needy from him who despoils him?" 12Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not. 13They requite me evil for good; my soul is forlorn. 14But I, when they were sick-- I wore sackcloth, I afflicted myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed on my bosom, 15as though I grieved for my friend or my brother; I went about as one who laments his mother, bowed down and in mourning. 16But at my stumbling they gathered in glee, they gathered together against me; cripples whom I knew not slandered me without ceasing; 17they impiously mocked more and more, gnashing at me with their teeth. 18How long, O LORD, wilt thou look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my life from the lions! 19Then I will thank thee in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise thee. 20Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause. 21For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they conceive words of deceit. 22They open wide their mouths against me; they say, "Aha, Aha! our eyes have seen it!" 23Thou hast seen, O LORD; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me! 24Bestir thyself, and awake for my right, for my cause, my God and my Lord! 25Vindicate me, O LORD, my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me! 26Let them not say to themselves, "Aha, we have our heart's desire!" Let them not say, "We have swallowed him up." 27Let them be put to shame and confusion altogether who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me! 28Let those who desire my vindication shout for joy and be glad, and say evermore, "Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!" [ (Psalms 35:29) Then my tongue shall tell of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. ] (RSV)

26 Psalms 35:1-28 1Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me.

2Take up shield and buckler;
arise and come to my aid.

3Brandish spear and javelin
against those who pursue me.

Say to my soul,
"I am your salvation."

4May those who seek my life
be disgraced and put to shame;

may those who plot my ruin
be turned back in dismay.

5May they be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them away;

6may their path be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

7Since they hid their net for me without cause
and without cause dug a pit for me,

8may ruin overtake them by surprise --
may the net they hid entangle them,
may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.

9Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD
and delight in his salvation.

10My whole being will exclaim,
"Who is like you, O LORD?

You rescue the poor from those too strong for them,
the poor and needy from those who rob them."

11Ruthless witnesses come forward;
they question me on things I know nothing about.

12They repay me evil for good
and leave my soul forlorn.

13Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth
and humbled myself with fasting.

When my prayers returned to me unanswered,
14I went about mourning
as though for my friend or brother.

I bowed my head in grief
as though weeping for my mother.

15But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee;
attackers gathered against me when I was unaware.
They slandered me without ceasing.

16Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked;
they gnashed their teeth at me.

17O Lord, how long will you look on?
Rescue my life from their ravages,
my precious life from these lions.

18I will give you thanks in the great assembly;
among throngs of people I will praise you.

19Let not those gloat over me
who are my enemies without cause;

let not those who hate me without reason
maliciously wink the eye.

20They do not speak peaceably,
but devise false accusations
against those who live quietly in the land.

21They gape at me and say, "Aha! Aha!
With our own eyes we have seen it."

22O LORD, you have seen this; be not silent.
Do not be far from me, O Lord.

23Awake, and rise to my defense!
Contend for me, my God and Lord.

24Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God;
do not let them gloat over me.

25Do not let them think, "Aha, just what we wanted!"
or say, "We have swallowed him up."

26May all who gloat over my distress
be put to shame and confusion;

may all who exalt themselves over me
be clothed with shame and disgrace.

27May those who delight in my vindication
shout for joy and gladness;

may they always say, "The LORD be exalted,
who delights in the well-being of his servant."

28My tongue will speak of your righteousness
and of your praises all day long.(NIV)

Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.

Yahweh's angel driving them on.

Yahweh's angel pursuing them.

22You have seen it, Yahwehf . Don't keep silent.
Lord, don't be far from me.

23Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God!
My Lord, contend for me!

24Vindicate me, Yahwehf my God, according to your righteousness;
Don't let them gloat over me.

25Don't let them say in their heart, 'Aha! That's the way we want it!'
Don't let them say, 'We have swallowed him up!'

26Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity.
Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.

27Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause.
Yes, let them say continually, 'Yahweh be magnified,
Who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!'

Lord, don't be far from me.

23Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God!
My Lord, contend for me!

24Vindicate me, LORDf my God, according to your righteousness.

Yes, let them say continually, 'The LORD be magnified,
who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!'

28My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.(WEB/HNV)

26 Psalms 35:1-28 1PLEAD my cause, oh Yahvah, with those who strive with me; fight against those who fight against me. 2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. 3Draw out the sword and flash it against those who persecute me; say to my soul, I am your Savior. 4Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise evil against me. 5Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of Yahvah chase them. 6Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of Yahvah persecute them. 7For they have dug pits for me and have spread a snare for my soul. 8Let evil come on them unexpectedly; and let the net that they have hidden trap them; into that very pit which they have dug let them fall. 9My soul will be joyful in God; it will rejoice in his salvation. 10All my bones will say, Yahvah, who is like you, who delivers the poor from his enemies, yes, the poor and the needy from him who seizes his property by force?

11False witnesses rose up; they charged me with things that I did not know. 12They rewarded me evil for good, and they destroyed my reputation among men. 13But as for me, when they were sick, I wore sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into my own embrace. 14I behaved myself as though they had been my friends and brothers; I bowed down heavily, as one miserable in deep mourning. 15During my misery they gathered together and rejoiced; yes, they gathered together against me for a long time, and I did not know it; 16With their boasting and mocking, they gnashed at me with their teeth.

17My Lord, I have suffered enough; rescue my soul from their riot, my only one from the lions. 18I will give you thanks in the great congregation; I will praise you among many people. 19Do not let my enemies rejoice over me, nor the mockers who hate me for no reason; they wink with their eyes but they do not salute. 20Against the meek of the earth, they devise mischievous things. 21Yes, they opened their mouths wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it. 22You have seen this, oh God; do not keep silent; oh my Lord, do not be far from me. 23Stir yourself up and awake to my judgment, see my suffering, my God and my Lord. 24Judge me, oh Yahvah my God, according to your righteousness; and do not let them rejoice over me. 25Do not let them say in their hearts, We have rid ourselves of him and we have buried him. 26Let those be ashamed and brought to confusion who wish me evil; let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me. 27Let those who are pleased with my victory shout for joy and be glad; yes, let them say continually, Yahvah be magnified who has pleasure in the peace of his servant, 28And my tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long.
