26 Psalms 17:1-15 1Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

4Concerning the words of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

11They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.(KJV)

26 Psalms 17:1-15 1Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry;

Give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence;

Let thine eyes look upon equity.

3Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night;

Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing;

I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

4As for the works of men, by the word of thy lips

I have kept me from the ways of the violent.

5My steps have held fast to thy paths,

My feet have not slipped.

6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt answer me, O God:

Incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

7Show thy marvellous lovingkindness,

O thou that savest by thy right hand them that take refuge in thee

From those that rise up against them.

8Keep me as the apple of the eye;

Hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

9From the wicked that oppress me,

My deadly enemies, that compass me about.

10They are inclosed in their own fat:

With their mouth they speak proudly.

11They have now compassed us in our steps;

They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.

12He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey,

And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13Arise, O Jehovah,

Confront him, cast him down:

Deliver my soul from the wicked by thy sword;

14From men by thy hand, O Jehovah,

From men of the world, whose portion is in this life,

And whose belly thou fillest with thy treasure:

They are satisfied with children,

And leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

15As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness;(ASV)

26 Psalms 17:1-15 1HEAR, O Holy LORD, and consider my supplication; give ear unto my prayer that proceedeth not out of deceitful lips. 2Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are just. 3Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and thou hast not found iniquity in me; nothing hath come out of my mouth which is according to the deceitful works of men. 4Through the conversation of my lips thou hast kept me from evil ways. 5Thou hast strengthened my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6I have called upon thee, for thou hast heard me. O God, incline thine ear unto me and hear my words. 7Make thy Holy One a wonder and a Saviour to those who trust; but let him prevail against those that rise up against thy right hand.

8¶ Keep me as the apple of the eye; protect me under the shadow of thy wings, 9From the sinners who plunder me, from the enemies of my soul who surround me. 10Silence their mouth, for they have spoken vanity. 11They have praised me, and now have surrounded me; they have determined to bury me in the ground. 12They are like a lion that is eager to prey, and like a young lion lurking in secret places. 13Arise, O LORD, humble them; cast them down; deliver my soul from the wicked and from the sword, 14From the dead that die by thy hand, O LORD; and from the dead of the grave, divide their possessions among the living; fill their belly with thy treasure, so that their children are satisfied and have a portion remaining for their own children. 15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when thy worship is revived. 26 Psalms 17:1-15 1A Prayer of David. 2Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit! 3From thee let my vindication come! Let thy eyes see the right! 4If thou triest my heart, if thou visitest me by night, if thou testest me, thou wilt find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress. 5With regard to the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 6My steps have held fast to thy paths, my feet have not slipped. 7I call upon thee, for thou wilt answer me, O God; incline thy ear to me, hear my words. 8Wondrously show thy steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at thy right hand. 9Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of thy wings, 10from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me. 11They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly. 12They track me down; now they surround me; they set their eyes to cast me to the ground. 13They are like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush. 14Arise, O LORD! confront them, overthrow them! Deliver my life from the wicked by thy sword, 15from men by thy hand, O LORD, from men whose portion in life is of the world. May their belly be filled with what thou hast stored up for them; may their children have more than enough; may they leave something over to their babes. [ (Psalms 17:16) As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with beholding thy form. ] (RSV)

26 Psalms 17:1-15 1Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea;
listen to my cry.

Give ear to my prayer --
it does not rise from deceitful lips.

2May my vindication come from you;
may your eyes see what is right.

3Though you probe my heart and examine me at night,
though you test me, you will find nothing;
I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.

4As for the deeds of men --
by the word of your lips

I have kept myself
from the ways of the violent.

5My steps have held to your paths;
my feet have not slipped.

6I call on you, O God, for you will answer me;
give ear to me and hear my prayer.

7Show the wonder of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.

8Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings

9from the wicked who assail me,
from my mortal enemies who surround me.

10They close up their callous hearts,
and their mouths speak with arrogance.

11They have tracked me down, they now surround me,
with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.

12They are like a lion hungry for prey,
like a great lion crouching in cover.

13Rise up, O LORD, confront them, bring them down;
rescue me from the wicked by your sword.

14O LORD, by your hand save me from such men,
from men of this world whose reward is in this life.

You still the hunger of those you cherish;
their sons have plenty,
and they store up wealth for their children.

15And I -- in righteousness I will see your face;
when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.(NIV)
