13 Isaiah 9:1-21
 1Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
12The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.(KJV)

6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

13Yet the people have not turned unto him that smote them, neither have they sought Jehovah of hosts.

16For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is profane and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns; yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
19Through the wrath of Jehovah of hosts is the land burnt up; and the people are as the fuel of fire: no man spareth his brother.
20And one shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

13 Isaiah 9:1-21
 1THE land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali have rejoiced; the mighty dominion, the way by the sea, the country beyond the river Jordan, and Galilee of the Gentiles have rejoiced.
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.
3Thou hast multiplied the people, and thou hast increased its joy; they joy before thee as those who rejoice in the harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder and the rod of his oppressor, as in the days of Midian.
5For every voice which is heard brings terror and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be for burning and fuel for fire.
6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder: and his name is called Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty One, The Everlasting God, The Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and of his peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to establish it and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8¶ The LORD has sent a word to Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.
9And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and haughtiness of heart,
10We shall lay bricks and hew stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11Therefore the LORD shall cause the adversaries of Rezin to prevail against him, and incite his enemies,
12The Edomites from the east and the Philistines from the west; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13For the people did not turn to him till they were devoured, neither did they seek the LORD of hosts.
14Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, tail and head, in one day.
15The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.
16For the leaders of this people shall cause them to err and cause them to sink low.
17Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall he have mercy on their orphans and widows; for all of them are hypocrites and evildoers, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burns like the fire; it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and the chosen ones shall roll up like the lifting up of smoke.
19Through the rebuke of the LORD of hosts the land trembles, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire; no man shall spare his brother.
20And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied; they shall eat every man the flesh of his own kinsmen;
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall devour Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

13 Isaiah 9:1-21
 1But there will be no gloom for her that was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zeb'ulun and the land of Naph'tali, but in the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.
3Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased its joy; they rejoice before thee as with joy at the harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as on the day of Mid'ian.
5For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.
6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.
8The Lord has sent a word against Jacob, and it will light upon Israel;
9and all the people will know, E'phraim and the inhabitants of Sama'ria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:
10"The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place."
11So the LORD raises adversaries against them, and stirs up their enemies.
12The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.
13The people did not turn to him who smote them, nor seek the LORD of hosts.
14So the LORD cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed in one day--
15the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail;
16for those who lead this people lead them astray, and those who are led by them are swallowed up.
17Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burns like a fire, it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
19Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts the land is burned, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no man spares his brother.
20They snatch on the right, but are still hungry, and they devour on the left, but are not satisfied; each devours his neighbor's flesh,
21Manas'seh E'phraim, and E'phraim Manas'seh, and together they are against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.(RSV)
13 Isaiah 9:1-21
 1Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan --
2The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
3You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.
4For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.
5Every warrior's boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.
6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
8The Lord has sent a message against Jacob; it will fall on Israel.
9All the people will know it -- Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria -- who say with pride and arrogance of heart,
10"The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars."
11But the LORD has strengthened Rezin's foes against them and has spurred their enemies on.
12Arameans from the east and Philistines from the west have devoured Israel with open mouth. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.
13But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the LORD Almighty.
14So the LORD will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day;
15the elders and prominent men are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.
16Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.
17Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men, nor will he pity the fatherless and widows, for everyone is ungodly and wicked, every mouth speaks vileness. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.
18Surely wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns, it sets the forest thickets ablaze, so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.
19By the wrath of the LORD Almighty the land will be scorched and the people will be fuel for the fire; no one will spare his brother.
20On the right they will devour, but still be hungry; on the left they will eat, but not be satisfied. Each will feed on the flesh of his own offspring:
21Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, and Ephraim on Manasseh; together they will turn against Judah. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.(NIV)

19Through the wrath of the LORD of Hosts, the land is burnt up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
20One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall be against Judah.(WEB/HNV)
13 Isaiah 9:1-21
 1THE land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali have rejoiced; the mighty dominion, the way by the sea, the country beyond the Jordan river, and Galilee of the Gentiles have rejoiced.
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, on them has the light shined.
3You have multiplied the people, and you have increased its joy; they joy before you as those who rejoice in the harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For you have broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder and the rod of his oppressor, as in the days of Midian.
5For every voice which is heard brings terror and garments rolled in blood; but this will be for burning and fuel for fire.
6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty One, The Everlasting God, The Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and of his peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and on his kingdom, to establish it and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness from now on, even forever. The zeal of Yahvah of hosts will perform this.
8The Lord has sent a word to Jacob, and it has fallen on Israel.
9And all the people will know, even Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and haughtiness of heart,
10We will lay bricks and hew stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11Therefore, Yahvah will cause the adversaries of Rezin to prevail against him, and incite his enemies,
12The Edomites from the east and the Philistines from the west; and they will devour Israel with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13For the people did not turn to him until they were devoured, nor did they seek Yahvah of hosts.
14Therefore, Yahvah will cut off from Israel head and tail, tail and head, in 1 day.
15The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.
16For the leaders of this people will cause them to err and cause them to sink low.
17Therefore, the Lord will have no joy in their young men, nor will he have mercy on their orphans and widows; for all of them are hypocrites and evildoers, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burns like the fire; it will devour the briers and thorns, and will kindle in the thickets of the forest, and the chosen ones will roll up like the lifting up of smoke.
19Through the rebuke of Yahvah of hosts, the land trembles, and the people will be as the fuel of the fire; no man will spare his brother.
20And he will snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and will not be satisfied; they will eat every man the flesh of his own kinsmen;
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together will devour Judah. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
