12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day. 3And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it: 4Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. 5Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.

6Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it. 7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; 8That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great. 10Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned. 11Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. 12She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire. 13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee. 14I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.

15Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 16Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. 17Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. 18So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

19And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? 20Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 21Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword. 22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. 23And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another. 24Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 25Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, 26That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? 27In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.(KJV)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1Again in year 9, in month 10, in day 10 of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day: the king of Babylon drew close unto Jerusalem this selfsame day. 3And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it: 4gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. 5Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yea, let the bones thereof be boiled in the midst of it. 6Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it. 7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust. 8That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. 10Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned. 11Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed. 12She hath wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust goeth not forth by fire. 13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed thee and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrath toward thee to rest. 14I, Jehovah, have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah. 15Also the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 16Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. 17Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. 18So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. 19And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? 20Then I said unto them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 21Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword. 22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. 23And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another. 24Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Jehovah. 25And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters, 26that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? 27In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.(ASV)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1IN the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2Son of man, write down the name of this day, for on this very day the king of Babylon has set himself against Jerusalem. 3And devise a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say to them, Thus says the LORD God: Set a pot on the fire and pour water into it; 4And put into it pieces of meat which are good and fat, a shoulder whose bone is broken from the choicest of the flock. 5And burn also the bones under the pot, and make it boil well, and let the bones seethe in it. 6Therefore thus says the LORD God: Woe to the bloody city, in which the pot is set on the fire, and whose iniquity has not gone out of it! Cut her piece by piece, so destroyed that no one would divide her by lot. 7For the blood is still in the midst of her; she splashed it upon the rock; she poured it not upon the ground to cover it with dust, 8That it might cause my fury to come up, to take vengeance; I have set her blood on the top of a smooth rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore, thus says the LORD God: Woe to the bloody city! I will even enlarge the fireplace and increase the fuel, 10And I will kindle the fire, and the flesh shall be cooked and seethe, and the bones shall be burned. 11Then set the pot empty upon the coals, that it may become hot and that its brass may melt and the filthiness of it may be melted in it and that the scum of it may be consumed. 12She has become like rotten figs, and her great iniquities have not gone out of her; her vengeance shall be in the fire. 13Because you have polluted yourself with lewdness, and because I have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your filthiness, you shall not be cleansed any more till I have caused my fury to rest upon you. 14I the LORD have spoken it; it shall come to pass and I will do it; I will not have pity, neither will I spare nor will I have mercy; but I will judge you according to your ways; and according to your doings, shall I judge you, says the LORD God.

15¶ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 16Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke; and you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. 17Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, put on your robe and put shoes on your feet; and do not cover your lips nor eat the bread provided for you. 18So I spoke of it to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died; and in the morning of the next day I did as I had been commanded. 19And the people said to me, Will you not tell us the meaning of these strange things which you do? 20Then I said to them, This is the word of the LORD which came to me, saying, 21Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the LORD God: Behold, I will allow my sanctuary to be profaned, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, the cleanser of your souls; and your sons and your daughters whom you leave behind shall fall by the sword. 22And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips nor shall you eat the bread provided for mourners. 23And your hair shall not be cut, and your shoes shall be on your feet; you shall not mourn nor weep; but you shall pine away in your iniquities and shall try to comfort one another. 24Thus Ezekiel shall be to you for a sign; according to all that he has done shall you do; and you shall know that I am the LORD God. 25But you, O Son of man, on the day when I take away from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the cleanser of their souls, their sons and their daughters, 26On that day a survivor shall come to you and cause you to hear it with your ears; 27And on that day the survivor shall open your mouth, and you shall speak and be no more dumb; and you shall be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. (LAM)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me: 2"Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. 3And utter an allegory to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Set on the pot, set it on, pour in water also; 4put in it the pieces of flesh, all the good pieces, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with choice bones. 5Take the choicest one of the flock, pile the logs under it; boil its pieces, seethe also its bones in it.

6"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose rust is in it, and whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice. 7For the blood she has shed is still in the midst of her; she put it on the bare rock, she did not pour it upon the ground to cover it with dust. 8To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered. 9Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. 10Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil well the flesh, and empty out the broth, and let the bones be burned up. 11Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, that its filthiness may be melted in it, its rust consumed. 12In vain I have wearied myself; its thick rust does not go out of it by fire. 13Its rust is your filthy lewdness. Because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your filthiness, you shall not be cleansed any more till I have satisfied my fury upon you. 14I the LORD have spoken; it shall come to pass, I will do it; I will not go back, I will not spare, I will not repent; according to your ways and your doings I will judge you, says the Lord GOD."

15Also the word of the LORD came to me: 16"Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep nor shall your tears run down. 17Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners." 18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died. And on the next morning I did as I was commanded.

19And the people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are acting thus?" 20Then I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me: 21`Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the desire of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword. 22And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners. 23Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall pine away in your iniquities and groan to one another. 24Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.'

25"And you, son of man, on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their heart's desire, and also their sons and daughters, 26on that day a fugitive will come to you to report to you the news. 27On that day your mouth will be opened to the fugitive, and you shall speak and be no longer dumb. So you will be a sign to them; and they will know that I am the LORD."(RSV)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1In the ninth year, in the tenth month on the tenth day, the word of the LORD came to me: 2"Son of man, record this date, this very date, because the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. 3Tell this rebellious house a parable and say to them: `This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "`Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it. 4Put into it the pieces of meat, all the choice pieces -- the leg and the shoulder. Fill it with the best of these bones; 5take the pick of the flock. Pile wood beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it. 6"`For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "`Woe to the city of bloodshed, to the pot now encrusted, whose deposit will not go away! Empty it piece by piece without casting lots for them. 7"`For the blood she shed is in her midst: She poured it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, where the dust would cover it. 8To stir up wrath and take revenge I put her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered. 9"`Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "`Woe to the city of bloodshed! I, too, will pile the wood high. 10So heap on the wood and kindle the fire. Cook the meat well, mixing in the spices; and let the bones be charred. 11Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows so its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away. 12It has frustrated all efforts; its heavy deposit has not been removed, not even by fire.

13"`Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided.

14"`I the LORD have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"

15The word of the LORD came to me: 16"Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes. Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears. 17Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Keep your turban fastened and your sandals on your feet; do not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners."

18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded.

19Then the people asked me, "Won't you tell us what these things have to do with us?"

20So I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me: 21Say to the house of Israel, `This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to desecrate my sanctuary -- the stronghold in which you take pride, the delight of your eyes, the object of your affection. The sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword. 22And you will do as I have done. You will not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners. 23You will keep your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or weep but will waste away because of your sins and groan among yourselves. 24Ezekiel will be a sign to you; you will do just as he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.'

25"And you, son of man, on the day I take away their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes, their heart's desire, and their sons and daughters as well -- 26on that day a fugitive will come to tell you the news. 27At that time your mouth will be opened; you will speak with him and will no longer be silent. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD."(NIV)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2Son of man, write you the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon drew close to Jerusalem this same day. 3Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it: 4gather the pieces of it into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. 5Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yes, let the bones of it be boiled in the midst of it. 6Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen on it. 7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it on the bare rock; she didn't pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust. 8That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. 10Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned. 11Then set it empty on the coals of it, that it may be hot, and the brass of it may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed. 12She has wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust doesn't go forth out of her; her rust doesn't go forth by fire. 13In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you weren't cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest. 14I, Yahweh, have spoken it: it shall happen, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, shall they judge you, says the Lord Yahweh. 15Also the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 16Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. 17Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headdress on you, and put your shoes on your feet, and don't cover your lips, and don't eat men's bread. 18So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. 19The people said to me, Won't you tell us what these things are to us, that you do so? 20Then I said to them, The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 21Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom youP have left behind shall fall by the sword. 22YouP shall do as I have done: youP shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. 23Your tires shall be on your heads, and your shoes on your feet: youP shall not mourn nor weep; but youP shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another. 24Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done shall youP do: when this comes, then shall youP know that I am the Lord Yahweh. 25You, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters, 26that in that day he who escapes shall come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears? 27In that day shall your mouth be opened to him who is escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more mute: so shall you be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.(WEB)

12 Ezekiel 24:1-27 1IN the 9th year, in the 10th month, on the 10th day of the month, the word of Yahvah came to me, saying, 2Son of man, write down the name of this day, for on this very day the king of Babylon has set himself against Jerusalem. 3And devise a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say to them, Thus says Yahvah God, Set a pot on the fire and pour water into it; 4And put into it pieces of meat which are good and fat, a shoulder whose bone is broken from the choicest of the flock. 5And also burn the bones under the pot, and make it boil well, and let the bones seethe in it. 6Therefore, thus says Yahvah God, Woe to the bloody city, in which the pot is set on the fire, and whose iniquity has not gone out of it. Cut her piece by piece, so destroyed that no one would divide her by lot. 7For the blood is still in the middle of her; she splashed it on the rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust, 8That it might cause my fury to come up, to take vengeance; I have set her blood on the top of a smooth rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore, thus says Yahvah God, Woe to the bloody city. I will even enlarge the fireplace and increase the fuel, 10And I will kindle the fire, and the flesh will be cooked and seethe, and the bones will be burned. 11Then set the pot empty on the coals, that it may become hot and that its brass may melt and the filthiness of it may be melted in it and that the scum of it may be consumed. 12She has become like rotten figs, and her great iniquities have not gone out of her; her vengeance will be in the fire. 13Because you have polluted yourself with lewdness, and because I have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your filthiness, you will not be cleansed any longer until I have caused my fury to rest on you. 14I, Yahvah, have spoken it; it will come to pass and I will do it; I will not have pity, nor will I spare, nor will I have mercy; but I will judge you according to your ways; and according to your actions, I will judge you, says Yahvah God.

15And the word of Yahvah came to me, saying, 16Son of man, look, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke; and you will not mourn nor weep, nor will your tears run down. 17Refrain from crying, do not mourn for the dead, put on your robe and put shoes on your feet; and do not cover your lips nor eat the bread provided for you. 18So I spoke of it to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died; and in the morning of the next day I did as I had been commanded. 19And the people said to me, Will you not tell us the meaning of these strange things which you do? 20Then I said to them, This is the word of Yahvah which came to me, saying, 21Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says Yahvah God, Look, I will allow my sanctuary to be profaned, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, the cleanser of your souls; and your sons and your daughters whom you leave behind will fall by the sword. 22And you will do as I have done; you will not cover your lips nor will you eat the bread provided for mourners. 23And your hair will not be cut, and your shoes will be on your feet; you will not mourn nor weep; but you will pine away in your iniquities and will try to comfort one another. 24Thus Ezekiel will be to you for a sign; according to all that he has done you will do; and you will know that I am Yahvah God. 25But you, oh Son of man, on the day when I take away from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the cleanser of their souls, their sons and their daughters, 26On that day a survivor will come to you and cause you to hear it with your ears; 27And on that day the survivor will open your mouth, and you will speak and not be mute any longer; and you will be a sign to them; and they will know that I am Yahvah.
