12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD; 3Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. 5Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD. 6They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. 7Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken? 8Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD. 9And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

10Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: 11Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. 12Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? 13Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it. 14So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 15Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; 16To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.

17Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? 19And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? 20Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 22Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: 23Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.(KJV)

12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah: 3Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4O Israel, thy prophets have been like foxes in the waste places. 5Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the day of Jehovah. 6They have seen falsehood and lying divination, that say, Jehovah saith; but Jehovah hath not sent them: and they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed. 7Have ye not seen a false vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, in that ye say, Jehovah saith; albeit I have not spoken? 8Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have spoken falsehood, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord Jehovah. 9And my hand shall be against the prophets that see false visions, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the council of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. 10Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one buildeth up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar: 11say unto them that daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. 12Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? 13Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it. 14So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be uncovered; and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 15Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered mortar; and I will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; 16to wit, the prophets of Israel that prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and that see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord Jehovah. 17And thou, son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, that prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the women that sew pillows upon all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves? 19And ye have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hearken unto lies. 20Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 22Because with lies ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive: 23Therefore ye shall no more see false visions, nor divine divinations: and I will deliver my people out of your hand; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.(ASV)

12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1AND the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy to the people, and say to them who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of the LORD; 3Thus says the LORD God: Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own pride, for they have not seen any vision! 4O Israel, your prophets are like the foxes in the ruins. 5You have not gone up to build the breaches, neither have you made up a hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD. 6For they say, Thus says the LORD; and the LORD has not sent them; and they persist in confirming a false word. 7Indeed you have seen a vain vision, and you have spoken a lying divination, and yet you say, The LORD said it; although I have not spoken. 8Therefore thus says the LORD God: Because you have seen false visions and spoken lies; therefore, behold, I am against you, says the LORD God. 9And my hand shall be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations; they shall not remain in the midst of my people, neither shall they be written in the book of the house of Israel, neither shall they return to the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the LORD God.

10¶ Because they have deceived my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and when the people built up a wall, they daubed it with untempered mortar in such a manner that it shall fall. 11Say to those who daubed it in such a manner that it shall fall, Behold, I will bring a violent rain which will sweep everything away, and hailstones shall fall, and a whirlwind; 12And the wall shall be breached and shall fall; and it shall be said to you, Where is the mortar with which you daubed it? 13Therefore thus says the LORD God: I will bring a whirlwind in my wrath; and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and hailstones in my fury to consume it. 14So I will demolish the wall that you have daubed and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation shall be laid bare, and you shall be defeated and consumed in the midst of it; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 15Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have daubed it with untempered mortar so that it shall be said to you, Where is the wall? Where are those who daubed it? 16Such are the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, says the LORD God.

17¶ Likewise, you Son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them, and say to them, 18Thus says the LORD God: Woe to the women who embroider wristlets and make coverings for every head and for every type of person to snare the souls of men! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and will you save your own souls? 19You have polluted my people for a handful of barley and a piece of bread, to kill persons who were not guilty of death, and to save the lives of those who should not live, and you have lied to a people who listen to lies. 20Wherefore thus says the LORD God: Behold, I am against your embroidered garments with which you hunt the souls of the people, and I will tear them from your arms, and I will set free the souls of those that you hunt, and I will cause them to fly. 21And I will tear your robes, and will deliver my people out of your hands, and they shall be no more delivered into your hands to be hunted; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 22Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sorrowful; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that they did not return from their wicked ways and live. 23Therefore you shall no longer see false visions, nor work divinations any more; for I will deliver my people from your hands; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1The word of the LORD came to me: 2"Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, prophesy and say to those who prophesy out of their own minds: `Hear the word of the LORD!' 3Thus says the Lord GOD, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4Your prophets have been like foxes among ruins, O Israel. 5You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the LORD. 6They have spoken falsehood and divined a lie; they say, `Says the LORD,' when the LORD has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfil their word. 7Have you not seen a delusive vision, and uttered a lying divination, whenever you have said, `Says the LORD,' although I have not spoken?"

8Therefore thus says the Lord God: "Because you have uttered delusions and seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord GOD. 9My hand will be against the prophets who see delusive visions and who give lying divinations; they shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 10Because, yea, because they have misled my people, saying, `Peace,' when there is no peace; and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets daub it with whitewash; 11say to those who daub it with whitewash that it shall fall! There will be a deluge of rain, great hailstones will fall, and a stormy wind break out; 12and when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, `Where is the daubing with which you daubed it?' 13Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath; and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to destroy it. 14And I will break down the wall that you have daubed with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare; when it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 15Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall, and upon those who have daubed it with whitewash; and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who daubed it, 16the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, says the Lord GOD.

17"And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own minds; prophesy against them 18and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the women who sew magic bands upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature, in the hunt for souls! Will you hunt down souls belonging to my people, and keep other souls alive for your profit? 19You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, putting to death persons who should not die and keeping alive persons who should not live, by your lies to my people, who listen to lies.

20"Wherefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against your magic bands with which you hunt the souls, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls that you hunt go free like birds. 21Your veils also I will tear off, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand as prey; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 22Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not disheartened him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his wicked way to save his life; 23therefore you shall no more see delusive visions nor practice divination; I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD."(RSV)

12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1The word of the LORD came to me: 2"Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: `Hear the word of the LORD! 3This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins. 5You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD. 6Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The LORD declares," when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled. 7Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The LORD declares," though I have not spoken?

8"`Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD. 9My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

10"`Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, 11therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth. 12When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, "Where is the whitewash you covered it with?"

13"`Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury. 14I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the LORD. 15So I will spend my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, "The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it, 16those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD."'

17"Now, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them 18and say, `This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? 19You have profaned me among my people for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.

20"`Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds. 21I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the LORD. 22Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives, 23therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will save my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the LORD.'"(NIV)

12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say you to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear youP the word of Yahweh: 3Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places. 5YouP have not gone up into the gaps, neither built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the day of Yahweh. 6They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, Yahweh says; but Yahweh has not sent them: and they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed. 7Haven't youP seen a false vision, and haven't youP spoken a lying divination, in that youP say, Yahweh says; but I have not spoken? 8Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because youP have spoken falsehood, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, says the Lord Yahweh. 9My hand shall be against the prophets who see false visions, and who divine lies: they shall not be in the council of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and youP shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh. 10Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one builds up a wall, behold, they daub it with whitewash: 11tell those who daub it with whitewash, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and youP , great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it. 12Behold, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said to you, Where is the daubing with which youP have daubed it? 13Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there shall be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it. 14So will I break down the wall that youP have daubed with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it shall be uncovered; and it shall fall, and youP shall be consumed in the midst of it: and youP shall know that I am Yahweh. 15Thus will I accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have daubed it with whitewash; and I will tell you, The wall is no more, neither those who daubed it; 16to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, says the Lord Yahweh. 17You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy you against them, 18and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the women who sew pillows on all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will youP hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves? 19YouP have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die, and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies. 20Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against your pillows, with which youP there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls go, even the souls who youP hunt to make them fly. 21Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and youP shall know that I am Yahweh. 22Because with lies youP have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive: 23Therefore youP shall no more see false visions, nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand; and youP shall know that I am Yahweh.(WEB)

12 Ezekiel 13:1-23 1AND the word of Yahvah came to me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy to the people, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of Yahvah; 3Thus says Yahvah God, Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own pride, for they have not seen any vision. 4Oh Israel, your prophets are like the foxes in the ruins. 5You have not gone up to build the breaches, nor have you made up a hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of Yahvah. 6For they say, Thus says Yahvah; and Yahvah has not sent them; and they persist in confirming a false word. 7Indeed you have seen a vain vision, and you have spoken a lying divination, yet you say, Yahvah said it; although I have not spoken. 8Therefore, thus says Yahvah God, Because you have seen false visions and spoken lies; therefore, look, I am against you, says Yahvah God. 9And my hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations; they will not remain in the middle of my people, nor will they be written in the book of the house of Israel, nor will they return to the land of Israel, and you will know that I am Yahvah God.

10Because they have deceived my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and when the people built up a wall, they daubed it with untempered mortar in such a manner that it will fall. 11Say to those who daubed it in such a manner that it will fall, Look, I will bring a violent rain which will sweep everything away, and hailstones will fall, and a whirlwind; 12And the wall will be breached and will fall; and it will be said to you, Where is the mortar with which you daubed it? 13Therefore, thus says Yahvah God, I will bring a whirlwind in my wrath; and there will be a deluge of rain in my anger, and hailstones in my fury to consume it. 14So I will demolish the wall that you have daubed and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare, and you will be defeated and consumed in the middle of it; and you will know that I am Yahvah. 15Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall and on those who have daubed it with untempered mortar so that it will be said to you, Where is the wall? Where are those who daubed it? 16Such are the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, says Yahvah God.

17Likewise, you Son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them, and say to them, 18Thus says Yahvah God, Woe to the women who embroider wristlets and make coverings for every head and for every type of person to snare the souls of men. Will you hunt the souls of my people, and will you save your own souls? 19You have polluted my people for a handful of barley and a piece of bread, to kill persons who were not guilty of death, and to save the lives of those who should not live, and you have lied to a people who listen to lies. 20Therefore, thus says Yahvah God, Look, I am against your embroidered garments with which you hunt the souls of the people, and I will tear them from your arms, and I will set free the souls of those who you hunt, and I will cause them to fly. 21And I will tear your robes, and will deliver my people out of your hands, and they will not be delivered into your hands to be hunted any longer; and you will know that I am Yahvah. 22Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sorrowful; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that they did not return from their wicked ways and live. 23Therefore, you will no longer see false visions, nor work divinations any longer; for I will deliver my people from your hands; and you will know that I am Yahvah.
