10 First Kings 6:1-38 1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomons reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD. 2And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. 3And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. 4And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

5And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about: 6The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. 7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. 8The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

11And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father: 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. 14So Solomon built the house, and finished it. 15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir. 16And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place. 17And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long. 18And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. 19And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar. 21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold. 22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high. 24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits. 25And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size. 26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubims with gold. 29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without. 30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

31And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall. 32The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees. 33So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall. 34And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. 35And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

36And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif: 38And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.(KJV)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1And it came to pass in year 480 after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in year 4 of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is month 2, that he began to build the house of the LORD. 2And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was 60 cubits, and the breadth thereof 20 cubits, and the height thereof 30 cubits. 3And the porch before the temple of the house, 20 cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and 10 cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. 4And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

5And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about: 6The nethermost chamber was 5 cubits broad, and the middle was 6 cubits broad, and number 3 was 7 cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. 7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. 8The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into number 3. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10And then he built chambers against all the house, 5 cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

16And he built 20 cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place. 17And the house, that is, the temple before it, was 40 cubits long. 18And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. 19And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20And the oracle in the forepart was 20 cubits in length, and 20 cubits in breadth, and 20 cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar. 21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold. 22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23And within the oracle he made 2 cherubims of olive tree, each 10 cubits high. 24And 5 cubits was the 1 wing of the cherub, and 5 cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the 1 wing unto the uttermost part of the other were 10 cubits. 25And the other cherub was 10 cubits: both the cherubims were of 1 measure and 1 size. 26The height of the 1 cherub was 10 cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the 1 touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched 1 another in the midst of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubims with gold. 29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without. 30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

31And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree the lintel and side posts were a 1/5 part of the wall. 32The 2 doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees. 33So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a 1/4 part of the wall. 34And the 2 doors were of fir tree: the 2 leaves of the 1 door were folding, and the 2 leaves of the other door were folding. 35And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

36And he built the inner court with 3 rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37In year 4 was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif: 38And in year 11, in the month Bul, which is month 8, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he 7 years in building it.(KJV/NC)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Jehovah. 2And the house which king Solomon built for Jehovah, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. 3And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. 4And for the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work. 5And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about. 6The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house. 7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. 8The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle story, and out of the middle into the third. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar. 10And he built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

11And the word of Jehovah came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute mine ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father. 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14So Solomon built the house, and finished it. 15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar: from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir. 16And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the walls of the ceiling: he built them for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place. 17And the house, that is, the temple before the oracle, was forty cubits long. 18And there was cedar on the house within, carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. 19And he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah. 20And within the oracle was a space of twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar. 21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold. 22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished: also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23And in the oracle he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high. 24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits. 25And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form. 26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without. 30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without. 31And for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood: the lintel and door-posts were a fifth part of the wall. 32So he made two doors of olive-wood; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees. 33So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, out of a fourth part of the wall; 34and two doors of fir-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. 35And he carved thereon cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work. 36And he built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams.

37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Jehovah laid, in the month Ziv. 38And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.(ASV)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1AND it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of May, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD. 2And the house which Solomon built for the LORD was in length sixty cubits and in breadth twenty cubits and in height thirty cubits. 3And the porch in front of the door of the temple was twenty cubits long, the same as the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the depth before the length of the house. 4And for the house he made windows of narrow lights. 5And against the wall of the house he built rooms encircling the wall of the house, both of the temple and of the Holy of Holies; and he made side rooms round about. 6The lowest chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for outside in the wall of the house he made narrowed copings round about in order that the walls should be fastened together. 7And the house, when it was building, was made of stones hewn before they were brought thither; so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house while it was building. 8The door of the middle chamber was on the south side of the house; and it went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third. 9So he built the house and finished it; and roofed the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10And then he built additional rooms against the whole house, five cubits high, and they were fastened to the house with timbers of cedar.

11¶ And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and execute my judgments and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will perform my word with you, which I spoke to David your father; 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel. 14So Solomon built the house and finished it.

15¶ And he covered the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the rafters of the ceiling; and he covered them on the inside with wood, and he covered the floor of the house with boards of cypress. 16And Solomon built twenty cubits in extent on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar; and he built within it the Holy of Holies. 17And the house, that is, the inner sanctuary, was forty cubits long. 18And the house was covered within with cedar, which was carved with buds and open flowers; all was cedar; there was no stone seen in it. 19And the holy place he made in the inner part of the house, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20And the length of the holy place was twenty cubits, and the breadth was twenty cubits, and the height was twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he covered the altar with gold. 21And Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold; and he made a doorpost in front of the sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold. 22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished; also the whole altar that was in the sanctuary he overlaid with gold. 23And within the sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high. 24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub, ten cubits from the tip of the one wing to the tip of the other. 25And the other cherub was ten cubits; both cherubim were of the same measure and the same size. 26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth so that the wing of one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched each other in the middle of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubim with pure gold. 29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with ornaments; and he fashioned carved ornaments and cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, within and without. 30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without. 31And for the entrance of the sanctuary he made doors of olive wood; the lintel and the doorposts were strongly fastened. 32The two doors also were of olive wood; and he carved upon them figures of cherubim, and carved ornaments and palm trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubim and upon the palm trees. 33So also he made for the door of the temple, posts of olive wood, plain and square. 34And the two doors were of fir wood; the two leaves of the one door were ornamented, and the two leaves of the other door were ornamented. 35And he carved on them cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and covered them with gold overlaid upon the carved work. 36And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams. 37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month of May; 38And in the eleventh year, in the month Tishrin, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all its parts, and according to all the fashion of it. So he was seven years in building it. (LAM)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1In the four hundred and eightieth year after the people of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build the house of the LORD. 2The house which King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high. 3The vestibule in front of the nave of the house was twenty cubits long, equal to the width of the house, and ten cubits deep in front of the house. 4And he made for the house windows with recessed frames. 5He also built a structure against the wall of the house, running round the walls of the house, both the nave and the inner sanctuary; and he made side chambers all around. 6The lowest story was five cubits broad, the middle one was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for around the outside of the house he made offsets on the wall in order that the supporting beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

7When the house was built, it was with stone prepared at the quarry; so that neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron was heard in the temple, while it was being built.

8The entrance for the lowest story was on the south side of the house; and one went up by stairs to the middle story, and from the middle story to the third. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and he made the ceiling of the house of beams and planks of cedar. 10He built the structure against the whole house, each story five cubits high, and it was joined to the house with timbers of cedar.

11Now the word of the LORD came to Solomon, 12"Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my ordinances and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father. 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel."

14So Solomon built the house, and finished it. 15He lined the walls of the house on the inside with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the rafters of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of cypress. 16He built twenty cubits of the rear of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the rafters, and he built this within as an inner sanctuary, as the most holy place. 17The house, that is, the nave in front of the inner sanctuary, was forty cubits long. 18The cedar within the house was carved in the form of gourds and open flowers; all was cedar, no stone was seen. 19The inner sanctuary he prepared in the innermost part of the house, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty cubits high; and he overlaid it with pure gold. He also made an altar of cedar. 21And Solomon overlaid the inside of the house with pure gold, and he drew chains of gold across, in front of the inner sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold. 22And he overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. Also the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.

23In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olivewood, each ten cubits high. 24Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the length of the other wing of the cherub; it was ten cubits from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other. 25The other cherub also measured ten cubits; both cherubim had the same measure and the same form. 26The height of one cherub was ten cubits, and so was that of the other cherub. 27He put the cherubim in the innermost part of the house; and the wings of the cherubim were spread out so that a wing of one touched the one wall, and a wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; their other wings touched each other in the middle of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29He carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, in the inner and outer rooms. 30The floor of the house he overlaid with gold in the inner and outer rooms.

31For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors of olivewood; the lintel and the doorposts formed a pentagon. 32He covered the two doors of olivewood with carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; he overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubim and upon the palm trees.

33So also he made for the entrance to the nave doorposts of olivewood, in the form of a square, 34and two doors of cypress wood; the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. 35On them he carved cherubim and palm trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold evenly applied upon the carved work. 36He built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone and one course of cedar beams.

37In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv. 38And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished in all its parts, and according to all its specifications. He was seven years in building it.(RSV)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the LORD.

2The temple that King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits long, twenty wide and thirty high. 3The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple extended the width of the temple, that is twenty cubits, and projected ten cubits from the front of the temple. 4He made narrow clerestory windows in the temple. 5Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms. 6The lowest floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits and the third floor seven. He made offset ledges around the outside of the temple so that nothing would be inserted into the temple walls.

7In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.

8The entrance to the lowest floor was on the south side of the temple; a stairway led up to the middle level and from there to the third. 9So he built the temple and completed it, roofing it with beams and cedar planks. 10And he built the side rooms all along the temple. The height of each was five cubits, and they were attached to the temple by beams of cedar.

11The word of the LORD came to Solomon: 12"As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father. 13And I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon my people Israel."

14So Solomon built the temple and completed it. 15He lined its interior walls with cedar boards, paneling them from the floor of the temple to the ceiling, and covered the floor of the temple with planks of pine. 16He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place. 17The main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long. 18The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; no stone was to be seen.

19He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there. 20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar. 21Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold. 22So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.

23In the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high. 24One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits -- ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip. 25The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape. 26The height of each cherub was ten cubits. 27He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. 28He overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers. 30He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the temple with gold.

31For the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood with five-sided jambs. 32And on the two olive wood doors he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with beaten gold. 33In the same way he made four-sided jambs of olive wood for the entrance to the main hall. 34He also made two pine doors, each having two leaves that turned in sockets. 35He carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings.

36And he built the inner courtyard of three courses of dressed stone and one course of trimmed cedar beams.

37The foundation of the temple of the LORD was laid in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv. 38In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.(NIV)

10 First Kings 6:1-38 1It happened in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Yahweh. 2The house which king Solomon built for Yahweh, the length of it was sixty cubits, and the breadth of it twenty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 3The porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length of it, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth of it before the house. 4For the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work. 5Against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about. 6The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house. 7The house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. 8The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle story, and out of the middle into the third. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar. 10He built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar. 11The word of Yahweh came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir. 16He built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the walls of the ceiling: he built them for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place. 17The house, that is, the temple before the oracle, was forty cubits long. 18There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. 19He prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Yahweh. 20Within the oracle was a space of twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height of it; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the cherubim, and on the palm trees. 33So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, out of a fourth part of the wall; 34and two doors of fir-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. 35He carved thereon cherubim and palm trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work. 36He built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams. 37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Yahweh laid, in the month Ziv. 38In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts of it, and according to all the fashion of it. 10 First Kings 6:1-38 1AND it came to pass in the 480th year after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the 4th year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the 2nd month, that he began to build the house of Yahvah. 2And the house which Solomon built for Yahvah was in length 60 cubits and in breadth 20 cubits and in height 30 cubits. 3And the porch in front of the door of the temple was 20 cubits long, the same as the breadth of the house; and 10 cubits was the depth before the length of the house. 4And for the house he made windows of narrow lights. 5And against the wall of the house he built rooms encircling the wall of the house, both of the temple and of the Holy of Holies; and he made side rooms around it. 6The lowest chamber was 5 cubits broad, and the middle was 6 cubits broad, and the 3rd was 7 cubits broad; for outside in the wall of the house he made narrowed copings around in order that the walls should be fastened together. 7And the house, when it was being built, was made of stones hewn before they were brought in there; so that there was not hammer, nor axe, nor any tool of iron heard in the house while it was being built. 8The door of the middle chamber was on the south side of the house; and it went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the 3rd. 9So he built the house and finished it; and roofed the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10And then he built additional rooms against the whole house, 5 cubits high, and they were fastened to the house with timbers of cedar.

11And the word of Yahvah came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which you are building, if you walk in my statutes and execute my judgments and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will perform my word with you, which I spoke to David your father; 13And I will live among the children of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel. 14So Solomon built the house and finished it.

15And he covered the inside walls of the house with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the rafters of the ceiling; and he covered them on the inside with wood, and he covered the floor of the house with boards of cypress. 16And Solomon built 20 cubits in extent on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar; and he built inside it the Holy of Holies. 17And the house, that is, the inner sanctuary, was 40 cubits long. 18And the house was covered inside with cedar, which was carved with buds and open flowers; all was cedar; there was no stone seen in it. 19And the holy place he made in the inner part of the house, to set there the ark of the contract of Yahvah. 20And the length of the holy place was 20 cubits, and the breadth was 20 cubits, and the height was 20 cubits; and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he covered the altar with gold. 21And Solomon overlaid the house inside with pure gold; and he made a doorpost in front of the sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold. 22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished; the whole altar that was in the sanctuary he also overlaid with gold. 23And inside the sanctuary he made 2 cherubim of olive wood, each 10 cubits high. 24And 5 cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and 5 cubits the other wing of the cherub, 10 cubits from the tip of the one wing to the tip of the other. 25And the other cherub was 10 cubits; both cherubim were of the same measure and the same size. 26The height of the one cherub was 10 cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27And he set the cherubim inside the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth so that the wing of one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched each other in the middle of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubim with pure gold. 29And he carved all the walls around the house with ornaments; and he fashioned carved ornaments and cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, inside and outside. 30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, inside and outside. 31And for the entrance of the sanctuary he made doors of olive wood; the lintel and the doorposts were strongly fastened. 32The 2 doors were also of olive wood; and he carved on them figures of cherubim, and carved ornaments and palm trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold, and spread gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees. 33So he also made for the door of the temple, posts of olive wood, plain and square. 34And the 2 doors were of fir wood; the 2 leaves of the one door were ornamented, and the 2 leaves of the other door were ornamented. 35And he carved on them cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and covered them with gold overlaid on the carved work. 36And he built the inner court with 3 rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams. 37In the 4th year was the foundation of the house of Yahvah laid, in the month of Ziv; 38And in the 11th year, in the month Tishrin, which is the 8th month, was the house finished throughout all its parts, and according to all the fashion of it. So he was 7 years in building it. (BRB)
