Introducing Replays

The most important reason for properly ordering the books of the Bible is to discover the Bible's underlying framework of replays. Like a fractal, replays are variable size Bibles repeating or replaying the 66 books of the Bible.

Replays repeat the 66 books by reusing stories or other unique content from each book. A couple good examples of replaying can be seen in the book of Isaiah. Take a look at the similarities between these quotes from Isaiah 27 and the book of Job.

Both passages of scripture are about "Leviathan," a word that only occurs in Isaiah, Psalms and Job. The best known occurrences of this word are in Job and since Isaiah 26 reads like one of the Psalms we know that Isaiah 27's mention of Leviathan is meant to match the book of Job.

Another example from Isaiah is seen in chapter 8 and the book of First Samuel. Recall near the end of First Samuel King Saul consulted a diviner to call up the dead prophet Samuel. Here's a short quote from the story.

8 First Samuel 28:7 7Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. (KJV)

If you are well versed in the Bible you know the subject of communication with the deceased is not heavily covered. In fact, other than some injunctions in the law not to communicate with the dead and this story in First Samuel the Bible is essentially silent on the subject, except for Isaiah 8.

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? 20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (KJV)

(KJV/NC)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living should they seek unto the dead? 20To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. (ASV)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19And when they shall say to you, Inquire of men who have familiar spirits and of wise men who chirp and mutter, these men are not God's people, who inquire of the dead concerning the living. 20As for the law and the testimony, if they do not speak according to this word, it is because they do not receive a bribe for it. (LAM)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19And when they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter," should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20To the teaching and to the testimony! Surely for this word which they speak there is no dawn. (RSV)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn. (NIV)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19When they tell you, 'Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:' shouldn't a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20Turn to the law and to the testimony! If they don't speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. (WEB)

(WEB/HNV)

13 Isaiah 8:19-20 19And when they will say to you, Inquire of men who have familiar spirits and of wise men who chirp and mutter, these men are not God's people, who inquire of the dead concerning the living. 20As for the law and the testimony, if they do not speak according to this word, it is because they do not receive a bribe for it. (BRB)

Isaiah 8 replays the book of First Samuel by simply picking off a unique story from that book and editorializing the situation. Notice the stunning accuracy in this match. Saul asks his servants to go find a woman to call up a spirit. Isaiah begins the same, saying those who ask you to go inquire of a diviner are not God's people. Note verse 20 also. Isaiah actually tells us the primary place in the Bible to understand what was wrong with Saul's decision, the law.

Replay Lengths

Replays differ in length and pacing. Roughly speaking there are chapter, paragraph and verse level replays. Chapter based replays like Isaiah devote 66 chapters to the 66 books. Since the Bible has a total of 1189 chapters there are 18 chapter replays spanning the whole Bible (where one chapter is skipped).

Paragraph level replays jitter in pace depending on the size of paragraphs, but as a rule there are at least two paragraphs per chapter and paragraphs have more than one verse. Thus paragraphs are distinguishable from chapter and verse level replays.

The verse level replays are not well documented yet, but appear to average one verse per book.

The DOT Notation System

Replays are marked in the Bible through a notation system called DOT (which stands for dot organized text). Each dot (which really is a circled number between 1 and 66) marks a replay of that book. To use a previous example, Isaiah chapter 27 matches book 27, which is Job, and thus a circled 27 appears at the beginning of the chapter. When the reader encounters a dot 27 they know to compare Job to what they read until they reach the next dot.

DOT distinguishes between the different levels of replays with the following scheme:

Level Description Color
Dot1 Books in order and numbered. White
Dot2 Chapter replays. Red
Dot3 Paragraph replays. Purple
Dot4 Verse replays. Green
Dotx Experimental replays. Orange
